Abstract

The music of Gambus is a musical that has Middle East style and identic with Islamic nuances, from song lyrics, dances to musical instruments that are used rhythmically, as well as melodic songs with unique characteristics possessed by stringed instrument, namely Gambus. This study aimed to analyze the form and structure of Gambus music in the Al-Mubarok studio at Palembang city. The method used a qualitative research case study design. The research data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques and also using triangulation techniques in testing the credibility of the data. In the process of analyzing data, the data validation technique was carried out through several stages, namely reduction, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study were to provide knowledge and become a reference for Gambus music consisting of two elements of time and melody. Meanwhile, the structure of Gambus music had repeated sentences and periods. The researcher hopes this research can be useful for the public and readers who want to know the oldest Gambus music studio in Palembang city that still maintains the authenticity of their ancestor’s art in Sriwijaya.

Abstract

Retno Tanjung dance is a girl dance coming from the coastal areas of Central Java. It tells about the coastal area women's excitement and gratitude for the abundance of God's gift in the form of seafood. It is also a reflection of Tegal people's thoughts on how the sense of togetherness and the grateful feeling for God's gifts are important. Retno Tanjung dance as the identity dance of Tegal contains a message, meaning and value, one of which is the character education values that are hoped to be able to be conveyed to the society, understood, comprehended, and applied in the people's daily life. In order to analyze this character education values included in Retno Tanjung dance and to analyze the process of the dance to become the identity of the city of Tegal, this research was conducted. In accomplishing the research, the method applied was the qualitative interpretive method which uses interdisciplinary approach. Then, the techniques used to collect the data for the research used were observation, interview, and document study. To validate the data, the triangulation technique of data sources was also applied. Meanwhile, the process of making the dance as the identity dance of Tegal was studied by applying Alo Liliweri's cultural identity theory. The concept of dance basic elements by Jazuli and the concepts of character education values formulated by National Education Ministry were used to analyze the character education values in Retno Tanjung dance. The research result shows that there are some values of character education in the dance. Religious values can be seen in sembahan and Balangan Mega movements, the lyrics of the dance accompaniment, and the use of hijab as the dance costume. Another value is the care for enviroment value which can be seen in the tracat miring, miyak toya, nyerok mina, and piletan mina movements. Retno Tanjung dance as the identity dance of Tegal city can be seen from the behavioral patterns and language used. Kata kunci : Tari Identitas, Nilai Karakter, Retno Tanjung

Abstract

The transformation of identity in the midst of high cultural pluralism is a problem for former colonized nations, such as Indonesia. The identity crisis that hit caused by the political identity factors which used to investigate the backgrounds and the debates on an identity formation. As a former colonized nation, Indonesia comes to a new kind of colonialization era that is no longer physical but mental colonialization. Postcolonial theory used to criticize the power of dominant cultures which help to analyze and build awareness of this crisis situation, namely through the concept of hybridity and mimicry which is used as a form of identity. The Congrock 17 Semarang group brings keroncong rock music as their form of identity which later gives them space to describe the position of Congrock 17 Semarang group.This study focused on the problem of the identity of Congrock 17 Semarang group and postcolonial studies. The problems are later outlined into 2 sub focuses, (1) What factors influence the selection of keroncong rock genre as their identity in terms of political identity phenomenon? (2) What are the results of the Congrock 17 Semarang identity in postcolonial studies? Research objectives (1) To understand the supporting factors of the Congrock 17 Semarang identity’s forming process in the political identity phenomenon (2) To analyze Congrock 17 Semarang identity in postcolonial studies. The writer used qualitative research methods. The writer also used several techniques to collect data such as, observation, interview and document studies. Data validation used triangulation technique. Data analysis carried out started from data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.The result of the research show that (1) Keroncong rock as the identity of congrock music 17 group was formed due to factors of media hegemony in carrying out the strategy of globalization. The media modernization continuous exposure in spreading rock at that time and in a long period of time become one of the strong factors in forming its identity. The social interaction occurs between congrock 17 group with communities in their environment also plays a major role in forming keroncong rock to reach its popularity at the moment. (2) Keroncong rock identity is formed through the unity of mimicry and hybridity to bring up the ambivalent behavior, which is imitating as well as resisting. Congrock 17 music work and performance was performed on stage shows the cultural identity unison between keroncong rock which if formed in third space. The implication given by the research on congrock 17 Semarang group is showing that keroncong rock hybrid identity can be the icon of music art to the communities, fellow musicians and the government in Semarang.

Abstract

Magic Genjring is an art handed down from generation to generation in Randusanga Kulon Village, Brebes District, Brebes Regency. However, in 1968 this art experienced changes that could be considered very significant. So that researchers are very interested in analyzing the shape, structure of this musical art and find out the function of each instrument used. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive, with an interdisciplinary approach to sociology and music science. While the data collection technique used observation, interviews, and document studies, the validity technique itself used triangulation, the data analysis technique is collecting the data from observations, interviews, and documentation, then it is reduced to sorting the data that supports the research until finally concluded. The results of the analysis of the shape of the musical structure are described as follows: the magic Genjring song consists of 4 motifs, 2 phrases (both question and answer sentences), the song starts from the 6th chord with Do = C, ie (am), with progress to the chord ii (dm). The beat or beat value uses ¾, then changes in the middle of the song to 4/4 in the 9th to 10th bar with percussion accent markers and changes 2/4 until returning to the initial sukat ¾. One of the factors that caused the change in shape, the structure of the music was due to the provision of extensive improvisation so that no patent standard. The results of this study are expected to become a serious concern, especially for senior artists, so that in the future it can be easier to reduce the next generation related to music because they already have a grip. Appreciation from related agencies and residents as art owners.

Abstract

Muhammad Misrad atau Bang Mice adalah kartunis Harian Rakyat Merdeka yang memiliki kemampuan unik dalam mengekspresikan gagasannya dalam bentuk kartun. Proses kreatifnya menciptakan karya Mice Cartoon sangat menarik untuk dikaji. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis proses kreatif Bang Mice dalam penciptaan Mice Cartoon yang dimuat Harian Rakyat Merdeka periode pemilihan presiden 2019. Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen. Teknik pemeriksaan keabsahan data meliputi triangulasi data dan sumber. Teknik analisis data kualitatif meliputi (1) reduksi data, (2) penyajian data, dan (3) verifikasi (Miles & Huberman, 1992:17), sedang teknik analisis data penelitian menggunakan teori Graham Wallas. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses berpikir kreatif Bang Mice dalam berkarya Mice cartoon yang diterbitkan Harian Rakyat Merdeka periode pemilihan presiden 2019 diawali dengan tahap persiapan yang dipengaruhi aspek internal dan eksternal kartunis, tahap inkubasi yang menjadi tahap pengeraman ide, tahap iluminasi yang ditandai dengan munculnya insight, dan tahap verifikasi meliputi pengujian yang berasal dari internal dan eksternal. Temuan penting penelitian adalah dengan pola hasil karya yang hampir sama, Bang Mice mampu mengambil sudut pandang yang kreatif sehingga menghasilkan karya menarik bagi pembaca. Penelitian diharapkan bermanfaat bagi masyarakat khususnya yang bergerak di bidang seni rupa/kartun agar mampu menghasilkan produk berkualitas melalui proses berpikir kreatif yang dilakukan Bang Mice.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the process of socializing the stone craft in Muntilan in empowering the cultural potential of the community. This research was conducted at the center of the Muntilan stone craft, namely Tamanagung Village, Muntilan District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province. The sociology approach and case study design were used in this research. Data was collected by observation, interview, and documentation techniques. To obtain validity of the data collected triangulation of data is done through steps a) comparing the results of interviews, observations, and documents obtained; b) comparing an informant's personal confession with his statements in public or when a group discussion takes place; c) comparing opinions at the time of research with situations that have occurred throughout history; d) comparing opinions between ordinary people, educated, and bureaucrats. Data analysis includes the stage of selecting a problem, summarizing the problem, collecting data, analyzing the data, and writing the results (including drawing conclusions at the end of the analysis). The results of the study showed that empowerment was carried out in the Batu Kriya community agents through the socialization process. The stone craft socialization process includes the preparation stage, namely the introduction of knowledge about materials, equipment, and techniques; the stage of imitating through the practice of making stone crafts under the direction of experts (expert craftsmen); the stage of acting through working together with skilled craftsmen (nyantrik); and the stage of acceptance of collective norms that occur when the crafters make stone carving activities as a profession. The suggestion that the authors propose through this research is that coaching in advancing traditional arts must be based on joint commitment through crafters and the public as well as participants or communities so as to create independence and prosperity for them.

Abstract

Silakupang is a traditional dance which forms is adjusted to the needs of national dance festival. Besides, the value of the dance is preserved and appreciated by the society. This research aims to analyze the changes of movement and values from Silakupang performance.The research employs qualitative methods with enthnochoreology approach. The data collection of this research used observation, interview, and documentation. The data were validated using triangulation of sources. The analysis of the data uses verification, reduction, and presentation followed by conclusion and interpretation to concept of changing movement and moral value. The finding of the research shows that the most obvious changes are to the choreography, costumes, and background music. The moral value of Silakupangcan be seen from the interpretation of the dance which shows the culture as an identity with moral value and openness to diversity, aesthetics, bravery, and creativity. The most important finding of the research is the changing of choreography which is more expressive and variative with the emphasis on the aesthetics and tolerance to change. The research has a significance in being a guidance for the society in using the traditional dance as the media of education and creativity. The value of Silakupan can be used as the living guidance of the society.

Abstract

Nanyin is a piece of Chinese traditional music. The music is preserved as anaesthetics ethnic expression of the Chinese community in Semarang. This research aims to analyze the aesthetic expression of nanyin by the Lam Kwan Boen Hiang Tong in Semarang. The research employs the method of descriptive qualitative with aesthetics approach. The data were collected from observation, interview, and documentation. The research was validated from triangulation. The analysis was through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The used theory is the theory of aesthetics. The research founds that (1) nanyin has the unique tone of music in the instrument and vocal tone; (2) the music uses simple melody with pentatonic bar; (3) the pitch is higher in each filler of dizi instrument part; (4) nanyin is performed in a dynamic tone; (5) most instrument plays some lyrical song; and (6) the performer wears cheongsam or dang zhuang during the performance.

Abstract

Learning art at the high school level is an important part of the formal school learning process. Art education and creativity through the art of illustration in the process of learning in SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus is an aesthetic educational institution for learners. An introduction to the values ​​of working with illustrative art, the sensitivity of elements and principles of evaluation of illustrative artwork and the importance of creativity education to students through the techniques of montage in illustrative artwork. This research used qualitative descriptive methods. With the study setting in the SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus in Class VIII-H. Data collection techniques are interviews, observations and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative research stages and validity of data using Triangulation data. The results of the research are revealing; (1) the process of implementing illustrative art learning with the application of montage techniques to the grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kudus, (2) the analysis of art elements and design principles in the aesthetic assessment of 12 illustrated works of art, and (3) the analysis of creative creativity art works of 12 illustrated works using montage techniques. The conclusion from the analysis of the 12 paintings, shows that the art of illustration with the montage technique is a form of aesthetic expression and artistic creativity from the expression of the ideas and ideas of each student in the art of assessment of elements and principles of art.

Abstract

Language development is one of the important aspects of early childhood, language development, in essence, is a child can accept (receptive) and express (expressive). This study aims to describe the expressive language of children in Siwi Unggul Kindergarten with the media of the images he made and to analyze and describe the results of children's drawings in terms of their nature and type. This type of research is qualitative research. This research was conducted in Siwi Unggul Kindergarten, Plantungan District, Kendal Regency. The subjects of the research were Siwi Unggul Kindergarten students. The informants consisted of children, teachers, and school principals. Data collection is done by observation, interviews, and documents. The data validity technique uses triangulation. While the data analysis is done using Marshall and Rossman's interactive model, which consists of organizing data, grouping by categories, themes, and answer patterns, testing assumptions or problems that exist with the data, finding alternative explanations for the data, writing research results. The results showed that the media images created by children based on their ideas and thoughts can provoke vocabulary and expression of children's symbols (pictures and writing) in kindergarten children. Parents and teachers are expected to accompany drawing activities to stimulate children's knowledge and expressive language.
