Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of the Posyandu in Teluk village became uncertain. Teluk village has the lowest maternal arrival rate to Posyandu, at 78,1 % according to data gathered in 2021. Implementation observations in many Posyandu in the Teluk village revealed that there were incomplete KMS (Kartu Menuju Sehat) or Card Towards Health, especially in the Naik/Tidak column (N/T), so that the progress of toddler's weight was not disclosed to their mothers. Toddler's nutritional status may be impacted by this. Cadres must regain their knowledge and ability to monitor and document toddler growth. The method was training with brainstorming and simulation of filling out the KMS. Change in pre and post-tests used to measure knowledge improvement while the abilty of cadres was evaluated in terms of processes and documents. The Wilcoxon test result (p>0,05) revealed no statistically significant difference between the pre and post-test scores. However, there was an increase in the average score before and after the training with a positive value of 3.4%. Observations of processes and documents showed that Posyandu cadres in the Teluk Kelurahan can fill out the Card Towards Health according to the proper KMS filling principle.

Abstract

Adolescents are one of the groups that are vulnerable to health problems. One of the health problems they experience is overnutrition. One of the factors causing overnutrition in adolescents is low knowledge of balanced nutrition and excessive consumption of junk food. Efforts to improve adolescent nutritional knowledge can be done by providing nutritional education using Gemar Bingo Card which is a combination of game cards and bingo games. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutritional education with Gemar Bingo Card on knowledge and consumption patterns of junk food in overweight adolescents. The study used a quasi-experimental one group pre-test post-test method on 34 overweight adolescents at SMP Negeri 2 Purwokerto. The study was conducted 5 meetings. The variables were measured using a knowledge questionnaire and FFQ junk food consumption patterns. The variable analysis data was not normally distributed, so it was continued using the Wilcoxon Test. There was an increase in knowledge score from 16 to 20 after being given nutrition education with Gemar Bingo Card with a p value = 0.000. On the other hand, there was a decrease in the median score of junk food consumption patterns from 94.00 to 77.50 after being given nutrition education with Gemar Bingo Card with a p value = 0.004. There was an influence of balanced nutrition education by using Gemar Bingo Cards on knowledge of balanced nutrition and junk food consumption patterns.

Abstract

Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a group of physical, behavioral, and emotional problems that occur before menstruation. Although the exact cause of this illness is unknown, various studies have suggested that it may be brought on by dietary, behavioral, or hormonal changes. Objectives: This study examined how eating behavior, phytoestrogen intake, and chronotype related to PMS in female college students at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Indonesia.Materials and Methods: Data were collected using a cross-sectional design with a cluster sampling method. This study was conducted with 104 participants, with the criteria: aged 18-22 years, class of 2020-2022, physically healthy, and willing to participate in the entire series of studies. The exclusion criteria in this study were taking sleeping pills, using hormonal therapy, and being diagnosed with a gynecological disorder. Statistical data analysis using the Spearman Correlation test. The Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) was used to assess eating behavior, Semiquantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SFFQ) to assess phytoestrogen intake, Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire Self Assessment Version (MEQ-SA) to assess chronotype, and Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF) to assess PMS.Results: Of the 104 participants, 99% reported having experienced symptoms of PMS. 90.4% of participants reported consuming phytoestrogens at a lower level than the sufficiency level. Emotional eating dominated the eating behavior characteristics with a 69.2% prevalence, while half of the respondents (59.6%) had a morning chronotype. Eating behavior, especially restrained eating and external eating was significantly correlated with PMS severity (p<0.023; r=0.222); (p=0.002; r=0.304). Phytoestrogen intake was significantly associated with PMS (p=0.007; r=-0.264). However, emotional eating and chronotype did not correlate with PMS.Conclusion: Eating behaviors: restrained, external eating, and phytoestrogen intake were associated with PMS while emotional eating and chronotype showed no correlation with PMS severity.
