Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis penggunaan tagar #IndonesiaGelap di platform X (sebelumnya Twitter) oleh komunitas pemuda digital sebagai bentuk kewarganegaraan partisipatif Generasi Z. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana interaksi digital dengan tagar tersebut membentuk wacana publik. Data diperoleh melalui observasi daring dan dokumentasi terhadap 25 unggahan yang relevan, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis konten dan tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Generasi Z menggunakan #IndonesiaGelap tidak hanya untuk mengkritik isu sosial-politik, tetapi juga untuk mengekspresikan identitas, menunjukkan solidaritas, dan berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan kewarganegaraan digital. Analisis sentimen mengungkap distribusi seimbang antara nada positif, negatif, dan netral. Analisis tematik menemukan lima tema utama: ekspresi identitas, kritik sosial, solidaritas kolektif, partisipasi digital, dan literasi politik. Temuan ini menunjukkan adanya pergeseran pemahaman kewarganegaraan, dari sekadar hak formal menuju keterlibatan aktif dalam diskursus publik. Platform digital dipandang sebagai ruang ekspresi politik, meskipun tetap memiliki tantangan seperti polarisasi dan misinformasi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya strategi literasi digital yang adaptif untuk memperkuat nilai-nilai demokrasi dan kohesi sosial di era digital.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions and experiences of Communication Science students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau in utilizing YouTube as a medium for democratic literacy. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six students and open-ended questionnaires. The findings reveal that students perceive YouTube as an effective educational platform for conveying democratic values in an engaging and up-to-date manner. Channels such as Narasi, Najwa Shihab, and BBC Indonesia enrich students' political understanding, foster critical thinking, and enhance democratic participation. However, students acknowledge the need for critical content evaluation due to the potential for bias and misinformation. These findings highlight YouTube’s significant role as an informal learning tool in strengthening democratic literacy among the youth. Keywords: Democratic literacy, Student, Youtube.

Abstract

In this ever-evolving digital era, the way we communicate has also changed, starting from utilizing media to exchange various information. This research discusses how religious tolerance is represented in the “Log In” program with Habib Ja'far on Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel with digital media as an intermediary, then how the audience responds through the comments column. The main objective of this research is to identify the representation of tolerance values in the video content and read the social dynamics reflected in the viewers' comments. The method used is a qualitative approach through content analysis and thematic coding of selected episodes and the comments that appear in the content. The results show that the program contains a strong message of tolerance through inclusive narratives, the use of non-confrontational language, and the selection of relevant and realistic topics in accordance with community conditions. On the other hand, audience comments showed supportive, reflective and controversial responses, indicating that the digital space can be a medium for active discussion of diversity issues. This suggests that social media such as YouTube play an important role in spreading tolerance values and encouraging direct public engagement. The findings enrich digital communication studies by highlighting the interplay between content and audience participation in shaping inclusive social discourse.
