Abstract

Seeking knowledge is a fundamental obligation in Islam that encompasses intellectual, moral, and spiritual dimensions, positioning learning as both an educational process and an act of worship. This study aims to analyze the concept and practice of students’ pursuit of knowledge in Islam and to construct an Islamic educational framework for character formation. Using a qualitative approach with the living Quran and Hadith method, data were drawn from the Quran, Hadith, scholarly interpretations, expert opinions, and previous studies published in reputable international journals. Thematic analysis was conducted through Miles and Huberman’s interactive technique to identify recurring patterns and values. The findings reveal six essential concepts and practices for students in seeking knowledge: sincere intention for Allah, ethics toward teachers, diligence and perseverance, reliance on Allah, avoidance of sinful acts, and supplication. These elements highlight the integration of spirituality, ethics, and discipline in Islamic pedagogy. The study concludes that these six principles provide a practical framework for Islamic character education, offering guidance for educators and institutions to cultivate students with noble character and integrity in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Arabic language learning holds an important role in education in Indonesia. However, challenges such as differences in linguistic structure and complex vocabulary often hinder the learning process. This study aims to investigate how the implementation of contextual teaching and learning can enhance the quality of Arabic language instruction by making it more meaningful and relevant. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the application of contextual teaching and learning includes the integration of everyday contexts, project-based learning, collaborative activities, and cultural exploration. Positive impacts observed include improved Arabic language proficiency, increased learning motivation, greater awareness of the importance of Arabic, the development of social and emotional skills, and students’ contextual understanding of Arab culture. The novelty of this study lies in applying contextual teaching and learning specifically to Arabic language learning in Indonesia, a field that has been rarely explored in depth. Unlike previous research that primarily focused on structural or grammatical challenges, this study emphasizes how contextual teaching and learning can integrate daily contexts, project-based learning, collaboration, and cultural exploration to make Arabic learning more meaningful and relevant. The findings provide new insights into enhancing language proficiency, learning motivation, and cultural awareness, while also demonstrating the potential of contextual teaching and learning to strengthen Islamic education through contextualized learning practices.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the talaqqi method in improving students' ability to memorize the Quran. The talaqqi method which is one of the traditional methods in memorizing the Quran involves direct interaction between the teacher (murshid) and the student in the process of repeating and correcting the reading. This case study was conducted at one of the Islamic educational institutions that focus on teaching Alquran memorization in Indonesia. This research uses qualitative methods with data sources taken through field observations, interviews with students and teachers, and analysis of student memorization achievements. The results showed that the talaqqi method effectively strengthens students' memorization and improves tajweed and makhrarijul huruf. It also improves learning discipline and emotional engagement between teachers and students, which has a positive impact on the memorization process. Although this method requires high time intensity and close supervision, the long-term benefits in forming strong and consistent memorization are felt by students. This study concludes that the talaqqi method can be an effective approach in learning to memorize the Quran provided there are competent teachers and a conducive learning environment.
