Abstract

Longsor merupakan salah satu bencana yang sering terjadi pada wilayah perbukitan dengan karakteristik lereng curam, kondisi tanah yang mudah mengalami perubahan, dan curah hujan tinggi. Batu Koneng, Kota Ambon, termasuk kawasan yang memiliki tingkat kerawanan longsor tinggi akibat kombinasi faktor fisik wilayah dan meningkatnya aktivitas manusia dalam pemanfaatan lahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak aktivitas manusia terhadap kondisi wilayah rawan longsor di Batu Koneng serta mengidentifikasi upaya mitigasi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi risiko bencana. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara terhadap 15 informan yang terdiri atas aparat dusun, tokoh masyarakat, dan warga setempat, serta dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi fisik wilayah Batu Koneng ditandai oleh kemiringan lereng yang curam, tanah hasil pelapukan, berkurangnya vegetasi penahan lereng, dan sistem drainase yang belum berfungsi secara optimal. Aktivitas manusia berupa pembangunan permukiman pada area lereng, pembukaan lahan, pemotongan dan penimbunan tanah (cut and fill), serta pengelolaan drainase yang kurang baik berkontribusi terhadap perubahan kondisi fisik lereng, peningkatan erosi, dan bertambahnya kerentanan longsor. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan risiko longsor tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik fisik wilayah, tetapi juga oleh intensitas pemanfaatan lahan yang kurang memperhatikan daya dukung lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, penguatan vegetasi lereng, perbaikan sistem drainase, pengendalian pembangunan pada kawasan berisiko, serta peningkatan edukasi dan partisipasi masyarakat perlu diintegrasikan dalam strategi mitigasi guna mendukung pengelolaan lingkungan yang aman, adaptif, dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Ekosistem terumbu karang memiliki peran penting secara ekologis dan sosial ekonomi, namun mengalami penurunan kualitas akibat tekanan lingkungan dan aktivitas manusia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi terumbu karang, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab kerusakan, serta menentukan faktor yang paling dominan di perairan Desa Kufar, Kabupaten Seram Bagian Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap masyarakat pesisir dan nelayan yang dipilih secara purposive. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi terumbu karang mengalami degradasi yang ditandai oleh kerusakan fisik, pemutihan karang, serta penurunan populasi ikan karang. Faktor penyebab terdiri dari faktor alami seperti peningkatan suhu, sedimentasi, dan predator alami, serta faktor antropogenik seperti penangkapan ikan destruktif, penggunaan alat tangkap tidak ramah lingkungan, dan pencemaran laut. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas manusia menjadi faktor paling dominan karena bersifat terus-menerus dan berdampak lebih besar dibandingkan faktor alami. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya pendekatan berbasis persepsi masyarakat dalam mengungkap dinamika kerusakan terumbu karang di wilayah yang minim data kuantitatif, sekaligus memberikan kontribusi pada penguatan analisis sosial-ekologis dalam kajian pesisir. Implikasinya, diperlukan pengelolaan berkelanjutan melalui peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat, pengawasan aktivitas perikanan, serta kebijakan lingkungan yang lebih tegas, dengan rekomendasi penerapan praktik penangkapan ramah lingkungan dan program edukasi berbasis komunitas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi guru geografi dalam menerapkan pembelajaran interaktif berbasis digital di SMA Negeri 1 Maluku Tengah. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui observasi, pelatihan, pendampingan praktik, dan evaluasi implementasi media pembelajaran digital. Materi kegiatan meliputi penggunaan aplikasi pembelajaran interaktif, pengembangan media visual geografi, pemanfaatan video pembelajaran, dan penggunaan platform pembelajaran daring. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran digital dan menerapkan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran geografi. Guru mulai mampu membuat presentasi interaktif, menggunakan media visual spasial, serta memanfaatkan platform digital untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan peserta didik. Implementasi pembelajaran digital juga memberikan dampak positif terhadap motivasi belajar dan partisipasi siswa di kelas. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan berbasis praktik mampu mendukung transformasi pembelajaran digital dan meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran geografi di wilayah kepulauan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality and quantity of well water in Sifnana Village, South Tanimbar District, Tanimbar Islands Regency. Dug wells are the community's primary source of clean water, especially due to insufficient PDAM services. However, there is variation in the water quality produced by these wells. Some wells provide water that is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, while others are contaminated by dirt and coliform bacteria. Factors such as the distance between wells and pollution sources and environmental cleanliness significantly affect water quality. Regarding quantity, tidal fluctuations also play a major role, with well water levels decreasing drastically during low tides. Therefore, the community must improve well maintenance and environmental sanitation to ensure the water quality remains safe for consumption

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of population growth on coastal environmental cleanliness in Poka Rumah Tiga Village, Teluk Ambon District. Rapid population growth often results in increased waste production and pressure on coastal ecosystems. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with surveys conducted through questionnaires distributed to 200 respondents. The study findings indicate that rapid population growth has led to a significant increase in unmanaged household waste. The primary contributing factors include a lack of community awareness regarding waste management and insufficient waste management infrastructure. Further analysis shows that communities with higher education levels tend to have better environmental awareness. In conclusion, a collaborative effort among the government, community, and private sector is needed to develop more effective waste management strategies to maintain coastal environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

Waste issues in the coastal area of Ambon City present a serious challenge that affects both the environment and public health. This study aims to identify and analyze community-based waste management strategies implemented by Moluccas Coastal Care (MCC) to achieve a clean and healthy environment. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results show that MCC implements the 4R strategy (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace) through education, campaigns, and practical actions such as clean-up events and recycling workshops. This strategy has succeeded in increasing public awareness, although challenges remain regarding low participation, limited facilities, and insufficient policy support. In conclusion, community-based waste management effectively drives behavioral change and maintains the coastal environment, but broader collaboration is needed for long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Population density is a strategic issue in spatial planning, particularly in areas experiencing rapid settlement growth, such as Rumah Tiga Village, Teluk Ambon. This study aims to estimate population density using remote sensing (RS) technology and geographical information systems (GIS). The method employed is a dasymetric mapping approach based on Google Earth Pro satellite imagery, with manual digitization of built-up areas and spatial analysis. The results show that the estimated population density using RS reaches 660.69 people/km², significantly higher than the official figure from BPS (334.84 people/km²) due to the focus on actual inhabited areas. Spatial validation was conducted using NDVI and NDBI indices, and it was overlaid/RW administrative data. This study concludes that RS is effective for estimating and mapping population distribution, and supports spatial data-based decision-making for sustainable village spatial planning.

Abstract

Mapping of land units in the aquifer zone is a step in water resource management and environmental impact mitigation. Aquifers are geological formations that can store and transmit water, making them the main source of groundwater that is crucial for various needs, including agriculture, industry, and domestic consumption. A deep understanding of the characteristics of land in the aquifer zone allows managers to determine the potential and limitations of water resources in the Karang Panjang area of ​​Ambon City. In the mapping process, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology plays a key role by providing tools to collect, analyze, and visualize spatial data. The use of GIS by utilizing the Surfer application allows the identification and analysis of important parameters such as porosity, permeability, and aquifer distribution, as well as the interaction between the aquifer and the surrounding ecosystem. In addition, this mapping also helps in identifying zones that are vulnerable to contamination and over-extraction, which can endanger the sustainability of water resources. The results of land unit mapping in the aquifer zone can be used to support better decision-making in spatial planning, infrastructure development, and environmental management. This mapping is not only important for the conservation and sustainable use of water resources, but also to improve the quality of life of communities that depend on groundwater as the main source of clean water.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to map the land unit of aquifer zones in the fault area of Batumerah Village, Sirimau District, Ambon City, as a strategic step in groundwater resource management. Using geo-electromagnetic methods and Surfer 9.0 software, the activity successfully identified aquifer locations with an optimal depth of 50–80 meters. The collected data were analyzed and presented in the form of a Geographic Information System (GIS) to support integrated and sustainable water management planning. This activity involved village officials and the local community through education and data-based training to enhance their capacity to independently understand and manage water resources. The results showed that a technology-based approach combined with community participation is effective in providing solutions to groundwater availability challenges in fault areas. This activity is expected to serve as a foundation for better water resource management, with recommendations including continuous training, regular data updates, and community education on the importance of water conservation in the face of climate change.
