Abstract

Abstract

The postpartum period is a crucial transition period for both mother and baby, where successful breastfeeding is a key factor in supporting the health of both. One common problem experienced by postpartum mothers is sore nipples, generally caused by improper breastfeeding techniques and a lack of maternal knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge of breastfeeding techniques and the incidence of sore nipples at the Telaga Dewa Community Health Center in Bengkulu City in 2025. This study was quantitative, using an analytical survey design. The population consisted of 57 postpartum mothers. The sampling method was accidental sampling, and data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results of the univariate analysis showed that almost half of the postpartum mothers (35.0%) had inadequate knowledge, and almost half (40.4%) had adequate knowledge. A small proportion (24.6%) had good knowledge, and the majority (56.1%) experienced sore nipples during breastfeeding. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant association between maternal knowledge of breastfeeding techniques and the incidence of sore nipples, with a p-value of 0.003 (p<0.05). Researchers recommend that postpartum mothers practice proper breastfeeding techniques to address sore nipples. Mothers can seek information about breastfeeding techniques from their local midwife or through social media.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a major health problem for women and the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The high occurrence of cervical cancer is due to low early detection coverage. The low participation of women of childbearing age in early cervical cancer detection is influenced by various factors, including knowledge and husband's support.  This study aims to determine the correlation between knowledge and husband's support and early cervical cancer detection in the Working Area of Penarik Health Center in Mukomuko, Bengkulu, 2025. This study used an observational analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The population was all 1,946 couples of childbearing age in the Working Area of Penarik Health Center in Mukomuko, Bengkulu, 2025. A sample of 106 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. Univariate analysis showed that of the 106 respondents, almost all (41 respondents) had insufficient knowledge about early cervical cancer detection, and most (63 respondents) had insufficient support from their husbands. Bivariate analysis showed a relationship between knowledge and early cervical cancer detection (p-value = 0.014), and a relationship between husband's support and early cervical cancer detection (p value = 0.010). Penarik Health Center in Mukomuko Bengkulu is expected to increase health promotion and education activities regarding early cervical cancer detection, and involve husbands in all outreach programs to increase awareness and participation of women of childbearing age in undergoing VIA screening.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is one of the most common reproductive health problems experienced by women of childbearing age (WUS). Lack of knowledge about vaginal discharge can lead women to perceive it as normal, thus avoiding preventive measures or health checkups. Health education using leaflets is one method that can increase WUS knowledge because it is simple, practical, and easy to understand. This study aims to determine the effect of leaflets on WUS knowledge about vaginal discharge at the Sawah Lebar Community Health Center in Bengkulu City. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population was all 6,558 women of childbearing age in the Sawah Lebar Community Health Center's work area. A sample of 30 respondents was drawn using a simple purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. Data analysis used a paired sample t-test. The results showed that before receiving the leaflets, most respondents had poor knowledge (19 respondents (63.3%), with an average knowledge score of 51.17). After being given the leaflets, respondents' knowledge increased, with an average score of 76.33, and the majority of respondents (18 respondents, 60.0%) had a sufficient level of knowledge. Statistical test results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that leaflets significantly increased women of childbearing age's knowledge about vaginal discharge. It was concluded that health education using leaflets significantly increased knowledge about vaginal discharge among women of childbearing age. Therefore, leaflets are expected to be utilized as a promotional and preventive measure by health workers to improve reproductive health knowledge among women of childbearing age.

Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that acute respiratory infections (ARI), especially pneumonia, remains the leading cause of death in children under five. In Indonesia, ARI remains the leading cause of infant visits to health care facilities. Prevention of ARI can be achieved through complete basic immunizations and the implementation of non-pharmacological interventions such as infant massage, which plays a role in boosting children's immune systems. This study aims to determine the relationship between complete immunizations and infant massage and the prevention of ARI among toddlers in the Sawah Lebar Community Health Center work area in 2025. This study used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design. The population was all toddlers aged 12–59 months in the Sawah Lebar Community Health Center work area, totaling 660 toddlers. A sample of 87 respondents was drawn using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between complete immunization and the prevention of ARI in toddlers (p = 0.004 (p < 0.05), and there was a significant relationship between infant massage and the prevention of ARI in toddlers (p = 0.007 (p < 0.05). It was concluded that complete immunization and infant massage are significantly associated with the prevention of ARI in toddlers. Therefore, it is hoped that health workers can increase public education regarding the importance of complete basic immunization and infant massage as promotive and preventive efforts to reduce the incidence of ARI in toddlers.
