Abstract

This study is motivated by the need for education to cultivate students who are not only academically competent but also possess noble character. A pesantren-based school is considered strategically advantageous because it integrates formal instruction, religious habituation, teacher exemplarity, and a religious school culture in the students' daily lives. This article aims to describe Islamic Education (PAI) learning strategies in instilling noble moral values, explain the role of PAI teachers in modeling and habituating moral conduct, and identify pesantren-based supporting activities that strengthen the internalization of moral values at SMP IT Nurul Yaqin. The study is designed using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data are planned to be collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers, the principal, pesantren caregivers, and students. Conceptually, the intemalization of moral values proceeds through the stages of value transformation, value transaction, and transintemalization. These processes are reinforced through exemplary conduct, habituation, advice, a religious environment, and continuous supervision and evaluation. This manuscript underscores that pesantren-based PAI learning has the potential to become an effective model of character education because it integrates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

Abstract

Arabic is the primary language in Islamic teachings, serving as a means to understand the Qur’an, hadith, and various Islamic scholarly sources. However, teaching Arabic in remote areas still faces numerous challenges, particularly the lack of appropriate teaching methods for children and the limited introduction of Arabic vocabulary from an early age. This situation also occurs in Kampung Dabatan, South Misool District, where children generally learn to recite the Qur’an at home without being taught Arabic vocabulary. Consequently, the children had no basic knowledge of Arabic vocabulary before the learning program was implemented. This study aims to describe the innovation of teaching Arabic vocabulary through the singing method conducted at Nurul Rohmah Mosque. This research employs a qualitative method with a fenomenologis. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed narratively. The results indicate that the singing method, supported by audio and visual media, can improve Arabic vocabulary mastery, enhance pronunciation, and foster motivation and enthusiasm for learning among children. Therefore, the singing method can be an effective and relevant alternative for teaching Arabic vocabulary in communities that have never received systematic Arabic instruction.
