Abstract

Purpose: This study assesses and compares the financial performance of state-owned and private banks in Indonesia from 2019 to 2021. This study focuses on evaluating key financial indicators to monitor the financial structure and efficiency of banking institutions continuously amid increasing competition in the banking sector.Methodology: This study utilizes several financial ratios and applies independent sample t-tests to analyze the financial performance of state-owned and private banks. The key ratios analyzed include (Equity to Total Assets Ratio), ECTAR (Equity to Customer Assets Ratio), IMAEAR (interest margin to average earnings assets ratio), LLCR (Loan Loss Coverage Ratio), DTCR (Debt to Capital Ratio), LDR (Loan to Deposit Ratio), and CAR (Capital Adequacy Ratio). Results: State-owned banks are financially weaker than private banks. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in the average financial performance of state-owned and private banks when measured using EATAR and ECTAR ratios. However, clear differences are observed between these two banking groups in terms of the IMAEAR, LLCR, DTCR, LDR, and CAR ratios. Conclusions: Financial performance in Private Banks is superior relative to State-Owned Banks. This is because Private Banks have better capital management, higher loss reduction, more equity owned by the company compared to debtholders, a large amount of credit disbursed, and based on CAR are more able to accommodate possible losses.Limitations: This study analyzes financial performance from 2019 to 2021, which may not reflect long-term trends or the effects of external factors like global crises or regulatory changes. It also focuses on a limited set of financial ratios.Contribution: This study compares the financial performance of state-owned and private Indonesian banks, offering insights for banks, regulators, and investors on performance differences and areas for improvement in state-owned banks.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences in stock prices before and after the Palestine-Israel ceasefire event in fast-food restaurant companies,  Pizza Hut and KFC. International-scale events may influence investor perceptions, as reflected in stock price movements in the capital market. This study employs a comparative quantitative approach using stock price data collected over 30 days before and 30 days after the ceasefire event. The analyzed data consist of secondary data processed through descriptive statistics, normality tests, and hypothesis testing. The findings indicate that the average stock price of PZZA increased after the event, whereas FAST experienced a decline in its average stock price. These results reveal differences in stock prices between the periods before and after the ceasefire event in both companies. The findings further suggest that geopolitical events are associated with changes in stock prices in the fast-food restaurant industry, although market responses differ across companies. Therefore, future studies are recommended to expand the scope of research objects and extend the observation period to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of market responses to international events.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of macroeconomic variables on banking stock returns in Indonesia, with a comparative focus on state-owned and private banks. The macroeconomic variables analyzed include inflation, the BI Rate, and the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar. This research applies a quantitative explanatory approach using monthly panel data from 2015 to 2025. The sample consists of six banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, namely three state-owned banks and three private banks, with a total of 792 observations. The data were analyzed using panel data regression through the Common Effect Model estimated by Ordinary Least Squares. The findings indicate that inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and bank ownership simultaneously have a significant effect on banking stock returns. Partially, the BI Rate and exchange rate have a negative and significant effect on stock returns, while inflation has no significant effect. The ownership dummy shows no significant difference between the stock returns of state-owned and private banks. These results suggest that macroeconomic conditions, particularly interest rates and exchange rate movements, play a more dominant role in influencing banking stock returns than bank ownership characteristics. The study contributes to investment decision-making by highlighting the importance of monitoring monetary policy and exchange rate stability in assessing banking sector stock performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of scholarships on the consumption patterns and financial well-being of students in Tanjungpinang City. The central problem motivating this research is the observed variation in consumption behavior and financial conditions among scholarship recipients, along with concerns that scholarship funds are not always utilized in an optimal and purposeful manner. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. Data were collected from two sources: primary data gathered through questionnaires distributed to 82 scholarship recipients, and secondary data comprising relevant previously published journal articles. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that scholarships exert a positive and statistically significant impact on both student consumption patterns and student financial well-being. These results indicate that scholarships play a meaningful role in helping students allocate their expenditures in a more structured and purposeful manner, while also enhancing their perception of financial well-being throughout their period of study. This research is expected to provide empirical contributions to the development of student financial scholarship program managers in formulating more effective and sustainable scholarship policies.

Abstract

Strengthening the capacity of the younger generation is an important strategy in creating superior and competitive human resources. This service activity was carried out at SMA Negeri 2 Toboali with the aim of improving political literacy, building mental-spiritual-based leadership, and fostering digital entrepreneurship skills. The activity method consisted of pre-implementation, interactive implementation, and evaluation through questionnaires and interviews with 65 students. The results of the questionnaire showed that more than 75% of students considered political education and digital entrepreneurship to be very important, 84.4% rated traditional-digital combination marketing as the most effective, and 96.9% emphasized that mental strength is important in building a business. In addition, 81.2% of students stated that they were interested in continuing higher education. The interviews show potential digital business opportunities, such as regional cuisine, online fashion, and digital courses. These findings confirm that the integration of political education, strengthening mental-spiritual character, and digital entrepreneurship is effective in forming a young generation that is characterful, competitive, and economically independent to support sustainable development in Bangka Belitung.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Dividend Payout Ratio (DPR) and Firm Size on Company Value (PBV) with Profitability (ROE) as a mediating variable in energy sector companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2018–2024 period. The method used is Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that DPR and Firm Size did not have a significant effect on ROE or PBV, and ROE also did not have a significant effect on PBV. Thus, ROE does not mediate the relationship between these variables. The insignificance of this influence reflects the characteristics of the energy sector which is volatile, capital-intensive, and facing a new and renewable energy transition. Investors pay more attention to asset efficiency, sustainable profitability, and capital structure than dividend policies or company scale.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine how attitudes and intentions influence the sharia-compliant financial behavior of MSME practitioners, employing the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a theoretical framework. TPB explains that actual behavior is influenced by intention, which is formed by attitudes and control of perceptual behavior. The research adopts a quantitative explanatory approach and applies the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method for data analysis. The sample consisted of 35 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) actors located in Toboali District, South Bangka, selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale, measuring four main constructs: attitude (ATT), perceived behavioral control (PBC), intention (INT), and actual behavior (BEH). The results of the study show that attitude has a significant effect on actual intentions and behaviors. Intention also plays a key role as a key predictor of actual behavior, strengthening the SDG framework. However, perceptual behavior control did not show a significant effect on intentions or behavior. These findings affirm the importance of forming a positive attitude and strengthening intentions in encouraging the adoption of Islamic finance practices among MSMEs. Strategic interventions need to be directed at increasing literacy, understanding sharia values, and strengthening the internal motivation of business actors so that Islamic financial transformation can run sustainably and equivocally.

Abstract

Profitability serves as a vital metric for assessing a firm's capability to utilize resources efficiently. This study analyzes the determinants of profitability, measured by Return on Assets (ROA), at PT Mayora Indah Tbk, specifically examining the roles of Current Ratio (CR), Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), and Asset Turnover (ATO). Employing a quantitative approach, this research utilizes quarterly financial data spanning from 2019 to 2024. The analytical framework applies the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method, preceded by stationarity testing using the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test. The Bounds Test results indicated no co-integration among variables. Thus, the analysis focused exclusively on short-run dynamics. The empirical findings reveal that the Current Ratio (CR) has no significant effect on ROA. Furthermore, while the current period values of DER and ATO were found to be insignificant, the first lag (t-1) of both variables demonstrated a significant negative effect on ROA. These results suggest that the impact of financial ratios on corporate profitability is dynamic and exhibits a lagged effect rather than an immediate one.
