Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of Islamophobia and its implications for the implementation of Islamic Religious Education in Indonesia. The research employs a literature review method by examining various relevant sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and research reports. The findings indicate that Islamophobia influences the implementation of Islamic religious education in several ways, such as the emergence of negative stigma toward Islamic religious education teachers, restrictions on certain learning materials, and psychological pressure experienced by Muslim students. In addition, this condition may weaken public support for religious education and potentially lead to misunderstandings among religious communities. Therefore, strengthening the role of education through the integration of multicultural values, the improvement of Islamic literacy, and the promotion of tolerant attitudes is essential for fostering harmonious social relations.

Abstract

Abstract

Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di Indonesia masih didominasi pendekatan yang berpusat pada guru, sehingga partisipasi ruang dan keterlibatan kritis siswa menjadi terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan menerapkan penerapan student-centered learning (SCL) dalam membentuk kelas PAI yang demokratis, khususnya dalam memperkuat budaya diskusi dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui studi pustaka (library Research), penelitian ini mengkaji secara sistematis 22 artikel jurnal terindeks Sinta serta 8 buku dan dokumen kebijakan relevan yang diterbitkan dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa SCL mampu mendorong partisipasi aktif, interaksi dialogis, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi, sekaligus mewujudkan pendidikan agama yang benar-benar demokratis. Aktivitas berbasis diskusi terbukti menjadi inti dalam membangun pemahaman keagamaan yang reflektif. Meski demikian, tantangan implementasi masih ada, terutama terkait kesiapan guru, kepercayaan diri siswa, dan konteks pembelajaran yang beragam. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi berupa kerangka teoritis yang lebih terpadu antara SCL, budaya diskusi, dan pemikiran kritis dalam pembelajaran PAI.
