Abstract

This study examines how digital competence, platform trust, and transaction efficiency influence FinTech adoption capability and MSME innovation performance in Medan. Using a quantitative survey design, this study focuses on MSME owners and managers who use or have access to digital financial services. Digital competence reflects the ability to operate and integrate financial technology into business activities, while platform trust refers to confidence in the security, reliability, and credibility of FinTech services. Transaction efficiency captures perceived speed, convenience, and cost reduction in digital financial transactions. Data are analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling to test the direct effects of these factors on FinTech adoption capability and its subsequent effect on innovation performance. The expected findings indicate that MSMEs with stronger digital competence, higher platform trust, and greater transaction efficiency are more capable of adopting FinTech and improving innovation performance. This study contributes by positioning FinTech adoption capability as a strategic mechanism for strengthening MSME digital business innovation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and develop a User Experience (UX)-based website to increase customer satisfaction and sales at the Dimsum Maidanii MSME. The background of this study is based on the low level of customer satisfaction with the existing website, where 70% of respondents said they were dissatisfied and 96.7% suggested further development. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a waterfall model, which includes the stages of needs analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The research sample consisted of 30 customers, 1 business owner, and 2 media experts. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and sales documentation. The evaluation instrument used the System Usability Scale (SUS) to measure user experience and customer satisfaction. The test results showed a SUS score of 95.7 which is included in the "Excellent" category, indicating the website is easy to use and effective in increasing customer interaction. In addition, a comparison of sales data from June (before development) and July 2025 (after development) showed an increase of 3.22%. These findings demonstrate that implementing UX principles on websites impacts customer satisfaction and increases sales. This research confirms that a UX-based digitalization strategy is a strategic step for MSMEs to compete in the digital economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of content reviews through the TikTok application in increasing brand awareness among Generation Alpha with a case study of students of Hang Tuah 2 Middle School. Based on the author's findings, 100% of pre-survey respondents stated that TikTok is a very popular platform, and 86% of them often view skincare product review content. However, Generation Alpha has not been able to distinguish objective content from those that are merely marketing strategies. This study uses a quantitative method. This study aims to enable Generation Alpha to be wiser and more critical in assessing the authenticity and objectivity of review content on social media. The study population was 160 students of Hang Tuah 2 Middle School. The number of samples was determined as 115 respondents using a purposive sampling technique with the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 5%. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression using the SPSS 25 application. The results of the t-test showed that content reviews (X) had a positive and significant effect on brand awareness (Y). The coefficient of determination value of 0.612 indicates that 61.2% of the proportion of brand awareness is influenced by content reviews, while the remaining 38.8% is influenced by other variables. Thus, TikTok can be an effective and strategic medium for building brand awareness among young audiences.

Abstract

Consumer purchase decisions regarding imported packaged food products are an important aspect influenced by the interaction between global marketing appeal and adherence to religious values. This study aims to explore the influence of halal labeling, brand image, and halal awareness on the purchase decisions of imported packaged food products among university students in Medan. Utilizing a quantitative approach with a sample of 100 student respondents and applying multiple linear regression analysis, this study finds that halal labeling, brand image, and halal awareness partially and simultaneously have a significant impact on purchase decisions. The results indicate that brand image has the most dominant positive influence, highlighting the strong exposure of global trends and lifestyles among university students in the short term. However, the presence ofofficial halal labeling and high consumer halal awareness are also proven to have a significant influence, acting as crucial screening instruments in providing spiritual security and mitigating doubts regarding foreign products. This study also highlights the importance of credible halal certification and information transparency from manufacturers to minimize uncertainty in the imported product market and support the protection of Muslim consumers.

Abstract

Digital financial capability has become increasingly vital for the sustainability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). However, the contribution of this capability to resilience may depend on the governance and utilization of digital resources. This study investigates the impact of Digital Financial Readiness (DFR) on Sustainable Economic Resilience (SER), both directly and indirectly through Islamic Sustainable Business Practices (ISBP), among MSMEs in Medan City. A quantitative survey was conducted involving 320 MSME owners and managers selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with 5,000 bootstrap subsamples. The results indicate that DFR positively influences ISBP (β = 0.612, p < 0.001) and SER (β = 0.287, p < 0.001), while ISBP also has a positive effect on SER (β = 0.498, p < 0.001). Furthermore, ISBP significantly mediates the relationship between DFR and SER (indirect effect β = 0.305, p < 0.001), suggesting partial mediation. The model accounts for 59.6% of the variance in SER and demonstrates predictive relevance. These findings suggest that digital financial readiness enhances MSME resilience not only through improved financial and operational capabilities but also through Sharia-compliant, ethical, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable business practices. The study offers context-specific implications for local government, financial institutions, and MSME development agencies in Medan City to integrate digital financial capacity building with Islamic sustainability-oriented business support.

Abstract

Digital readiness determines the ability of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to convert access to digital financial services into sustained business value. This study analyzes the effects of digital literacy, digital infrastructure readiness, and security and privacy awareness on sustainable digital finance adoption (SDFA), as well as the subsequent impact of SDFA on business innovation orientation (BIO) among MSMEs in Mebidang, North Sumatra. Survey data from 320 MSME owners or managers in Medan, Binjai, and Deli Serdang were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling with 5,000 bootstrap subsamples. The results indicate that digital literacy (β = 0.312, p < 0.001), digital infrastructure readiness (β = 0.374, p < 0.001), and security and privacy awareness (β = 0.246, p < 0.001) positively influence SDFA. Digital infrastructure readiness is identified as the strongest antecedent. SDFA significantly impacts BIO (β = 0.681, p < 0.001). The model explains 64.2% of the variance in SDFA and 46.4% of the variance in BIO. This study distinguishes sustainable adoption from sporadic digital finance usage by emphasizing continuity, efficiency, transparency, trust, recordkeeping, and responsible financial behavior. The findings suggest that regional MSME programs should integrate infrastructure support, practical digital literacy, cybersecurity capabilities, and the integration of digital finance with bookkeeping and business decision-making.
