Abstract

A quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was employed. The intervention consisted of a pretest, structured practice activities, and a posttest conducted within a single learning session. The participants were 25 students selected purposively based on initial learning difficulties. Data were collected from achievement tests and practice-session records and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test, Normalized Gain (N-Gain), and effect size (Cohen’s d). The results indicated a significant improvement, with a mean N-Gain of 0.578 (moderate category) and a large effect size (d = 2.164). Further analysis using PPLAM revealed that practice quality contributed substantially to posttest performance, as indicated by an R² value of 0.70. These findings confirm that PPLAM plays a critical role in monitoring learning processes and enhancing the effectiveness of short-term remedial instruction in integer operations. Abstract

Mathematics learning at the junior high school level requires instructional media that can create an active, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment to help students better understand mathematical concepts. This study aimed to describe the responses of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 27 Manokwari toward the use of Matching Games in mathematics learning on the topic of radical and exponent operations. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach involving 28 eighth-grade students as the research subjects. Data were collected through a student response questionnaire using a Likert scale consisting of aspects of learning motivation, student engagement, media appearance and visual design, and the usefulness of the game. The data were analyzed using percentage techniques to determine the level of student responses toward the instructional media used. The results showed that the Matching Games received positive responses from students, with percentages of 75.6% for learning motivation, 83.04% for student engagement, 71.13% for media appearance and visual design, and 78.87% for the usefulness aspect, all categorized as practical. These findings indicate that the Matching Games was able to create a more active, engaging, and enjoyable mathematics learning environment while helping students understand mathematical concepts through direct activities of matching questions and answers. Therefore, the Matching Games can be used as an alternative mathematics learning media at the junior high school level, particularly for the topic of radical and exponent operations in grade VIII.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease which is still a public health problem in the world.Indonesia is a country with the third highest tuberculosis burden after India and China. South Sulawesi isone of the provinces that contributes to the high number of tuberculosis cases in Indonesia in 2020. Linearregression analysis can be applied to tuberculosis data to determine the variables that affect the numberof tuberculosis cases in South Sulawesi. Problems that often arise in regression analysis aremulticollinearity problems and outliers in the data. One method that can be used to solve multicollinearityand outlier problems is the LASSO LTS regression. The LASSO LTS regression is a modification of theLASSO regression method based on the LTS estimator of joint regression. The variables in the tuberculosisdata in South Sulawesi have multicollinearity problems and there are outliers, so in this study an approachwith the LASSO LTS method was used to overcome them. The results showed that the LASSO LTS methodcould overcome multicollinearity and outlier problems in estimating regression parameters as evidencedby the highest coefficient of determination of 89.41%.
