Abstract

The deadliest infectious disease in Indonesia is tuberculosis (TB), and South Sulawesi is one of the provinces that contributed the most tuberculosis cases in Indonesia in 2018 with 84 cases per 100,000 population. This study aims to identify variables that could explain the proportion of TB cases in South Sulawesi. The data used has many explanatory variables, and there are outliers. Sparse Least Trimmed Squares (LTS) analysis can be used to handle data that has many explanatory variables and outliers. The resulting sparse LTS model successfully selects and shrinks the variables to 14 variables only. In addition, based on the value of R2 and RMSE for the model evaluation, the sparse LTS shows satisfying results rather than classical LASSO. The government can focus on these factors if they want to reduce the proportion of TB cases in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease which is still a public health problem in the world.Indonesia is a country with the third highest tuberculosis burden after India and China. South Sulawesi isone of the provinces that contributes to the high number of tuberculosis cases in Indonesia in 2020. Linearregression analysis can be applied to tuberculosis data to determine the variables that affect the numberof tuberculosis cases in South Sulawesi. Problems that often arise in regression analysis aremulticollinearity problems and outliers in the data. One method that can be used to solve multicollinearityand outlier problems is the LASSO LTS regression. The LASSO LTS regression is a modification of theLASSO regression method based on the LTS estimator of joint regression. The variables in the tuberculosisdata in South Sulawesi have multicollinearity problems and there are outliers, so in this study an approachwith the LASSO LTS method was used to overcome them. The results showed that the LASSO LTS methodcould overcome multicollinearity and outlier problems in estimating regression parameters as evidencedby the highest coefficient of determination of 89.41%.

Abstract

SMA Taruna Kasuari Nusantara Manokwari merupakan sekolah yang tergolong baru dan memiliki semangat tinggi dalam mendorong siswanya untuk melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang lebih tinggi, termasuk ke sekolah kedinasan. Namun, masih terdapat kendala dalam kesiapan siswa menghadapi ujian berbasis Computer Assisted Test (CAT) yang menjadi metode seleksi utama dalam penerimaan sekolah kedinasan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan siswa melalui pelatihan akademik berbasis CAT guna meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir, pemahaman, dan penalaran dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal seleksi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi penyusunan soal simulasi CAT, pelatihan penggunaan sistem CAT, serta evaluasi hasil tes. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap format dan strategi mengerjakan soal berbasis CAT, serta meningkatnya motivasi siswa untuk mengikuti seleksi sekolah kedinasan. Kegiatan ini disambut baik oleh pihak sekolah dan siswa, serta direkomendasikan untuk dijadikan program rutin sebagai bagian dari pembinaan prestasi akademik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pendekatan kreatif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi, membaca, dan menulis anak di Pondok Baca Senja Papua Cerdas, Manokwari. Sasaran kegiatan adalah anak-anak usia sekolah dasar dan prasekolah yang aktif mengikuti kegiatan belajar di pondok baca tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kreatif melalui aktivitas bermain sambil belajar, media visual interaktif, serta kegiatan membaca dan menulis bersama yang menyenangkan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, catatan kegiatan, dan dokumentasi aktivitas belajar. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan numerasi, membaca, dan menulis anak serta antusiasme yang lebih tinggi dalam mengikuti kegiatan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kreatif efektif mendukung perkembangan numerasi dan literasi anak secara simultan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan membandingkan kinerja tiga metode klasifikasi Regresi Logistik, Support Vector Machine (SVM), dan Naïve Bayes dalam memprediksi kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap proses pembelajaran pada semester gasal 2025/2026 di Universitas Papua. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui survei yang berisi delapan variabel prediktor kategorik yang berkaitan dengan aspek proses pembelajaran, sementara variabel respon terdiri atas dua kategori, yaitu puas dan tidak puas. Analisis dilakukan dengan membagi data menjadi training dan testing dengan proporsi 80:20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Regresi Logistik dan SVM memberikan akurasi tertinggi, masing-masing sebesar 95.24%, sedangkan metode Naïve Bayes menghasilkan akurasi sebesar 87.88% meskipun telah dilakukan penentuan parameter terbaik menggunakan validasi silang 5-fold dan penerapan Laplace smoothing. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Regresi Logistik dan SVM merupakan metode yang paling efektif untuk memprediksi kepuasan mahasiswa pada dataset ini, sementara Naïve Bayes tetap menjadi alternatif yang efisien untuk pemodelan yang sederhana dan cepat. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung pengambilan keputusan dalam evaluasi dan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) merupakan salah satu komponen penting dalam seleksi masuk sekolah kedinasan yang bertujuan mengukur kemampuan berpikir logis, numerik, dan verbal siswa secara menyeluruh. Namun, kenyataannya masih banyak siswa yang belum familiar dengan bentuk soal TPA, strategi penyelesaiannya, serta belum terbiasa menghadapi ujian berbasis digital atau Computer Assisted Test (CAT). Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu siswa SMA Taruna Kasuari Nusantara Manokwari dalam meningkatkan kesiapan akademik mereka menghadapi seleksi sekolah kedinasan melalui pelatihan dan evaluasi TPA berbasis CAT. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu penyusunan soal TPA berdasarkan kisi-kisi resmi, pemberian materi pengantar melalui pelatihan singkat, pelaksanaan post test menggunakan sistem CAT, dan analisis terhadap hasil yang diperoleh peserta. Data yang digunakan merupakan hasil post test sebagai representasi capaian akhir siswa setelah pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mengalami peningkatan pemahaman dan mampu menyelesaikan soal dalam waktu yang ditentukan, meskipun masih ditemukan kesulitan dalam menjawab soal-soal logika numerik dan analogi verbal. Selain itu, pelaksanaan CAT memberikan pengalaman teknis yang berguna serta meningkatkan efisiensi dan objektivitas proses evaluasi. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa simulasi dan evaluasi TPA berbasis CAT dapat menjadi strategi yang tepat dan efektif dalam membantu siswa mempersiapkan diri mengikuti seleksi masuk sekolah kedinasan secara lebih optimal dan terstruktur.

Indikator keberhasilan pembangunan manusia di suatu negara dapat diukur melalui Indeks Pembangunan Manusia, yang mencakup tiga dimensi dasar umur panjang dan hidup sehat, pengetahuan, serta standar hidup layak. Abstract

This study aims to examine the key factors influencing the implementation of GASING mathematics, particularly teachers’ perception, attitude, competence, and school support, in a rural educational context. The study addresses the limited integration of these variables within a single analytical framework, especially in remote areas such as Kaimana. A mixed-methods approach was employed involving 14 teachers who have experience in implementing the GASING method. Quantitative data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation, while qualitative data were obtained through open-ended responses and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that all variables are categorized as high to very high, reflecting positive responses toward the GASING method. Correlation analysis shows that teacher competence has the strongest relationship with implementation (r = 0.62), followed by school support (r = 0.52), perception (r = 0.43), and attitude (r = 0.35). These findings highlight the central role of teacher competence in ensuring effective implementation. Qualitative findings further reveal that despite positive perceptions and attitudes, teachers still encounter challenges related to limited practical skills and inconsistent institutional support. This study offers a novel contribution by integrating multiple teacher-related and institutional factors within a mixed-methods framework in a remote context. The findings imply that strengthening teacher competence through continuous professional development, supported by consistent school policies and resources, is essential for optimizing the implementation of innovative mathematics learning approaches such as GASING.

Abstract

The invasive plant Ludwigia grandiflora (Michx.) Greuter & Burdet poses a serious threat to tropical wetland ecosystems, particularly abandoned paddy fields. The invasive potential of this plant results from the interaction between its regenerative capacity, as reflected by population size, seed production, soil seed bank, and germination rate. This study aimed to analyze individual abundance, soil seed bank potential, and germination rates of L. grandiflora across two land-use types, namely intensively cultivated paddy fields and abandoned paddy fields that have been left uncultivated for five years, in Sidey District, Manokwari Regency, West Papua, Indonesia. Abundance was assessed using the quadrat method, while seed production and germination rates were evaluated through seed counts per capsule and the seedling emergence method at two soil depths. The results showed that the abundance of L. grandiflora in intensively cultivated fields ranged from 80 to 160 individuals m⁻², whereas in abandoned paddy fields it ranged from 50 to 90 individuals m⁻². Welch’s t-test revealed that the abundance of L. grandiflora differed significantly between the two land types studied (p < 0.05). Likewise, the number of seeds per capsule was significantly higher in intensively cultivated paddy fields (p < 0.05). In contrast, abandoned paddy fields exhibited a higher soil seed bank and higher germination rates (p < 0.05) than intensively cultivated fields. Soil samples from greater depths showed lower germination rates of L. grandiflora, as well as longer germination times, compared with surface soils. The abundance, seed production, soil seed bank, and germination rate can serve as early indicators of the invasive potential of L. grandiflora. These findings indicate that agricultural activities, particularly fertilization, play an important role in enhancing the invasive potential of L. grandiflora in lowland paddy field ecosystems

Abstract

This study analyzes Indonesia’s monthly inflation rates from January 2020 to December 2024 using descriptive statistical methods, namely frequency distribution tables and histograms with trend lines. The results show that inflation during this five-year period predominantly remained within the low to moderate range of 1.00%–3.00%. The distribution is positively skewed, indicating that lower inflation values occurred more frequently, while higher inflation rates were relatively rare. The most frequent class interval was 1.00%–1.67%, accounting for 26.67% of the total observations, and nearly 70% of the data fell below 3.01%, reflecting relative price stability. However, temporary inflation spikes were observed between 2022 and early 2023, likely influenced by global supply chain disruptions and commodity price volatility. Overall, the findings suggest that Indonesia’s inflation remained largely controlled throughout the study period, highlighting the role of policy measures during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of simple descriptive statistical tools in identifying key characteristics and trends in macroeconomic data.
