Abstract

Abstrak Alur cerita yang dikemas dalam sebuah tontonan film tentunya menjadi modal utama keberhasilan film tersebut dalam menarik perhatian penonton. Dari berbagai genre yang ada, tidak banyak film drama Indonesia yang menggunakan alur mundur dalam penyajian ceritanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tahapan dramatik tiga babak film Story of Kale dan alur yang digunakan dalam mengemas cerita film spin off garapan sutradara Angga Dwimas Sasongko. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskripsi kualitatif untuk melihat secara mendalam struktur naratif dan unsur dramatis yang digunakan mulai dari tahap awal, tahap tengah dan tahap akhir. Analisis data pada objek penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis struktur naratif tiga babak menurut Syd Field. Hasil analisis penelitian ini menemukan bahwa alur mundur yang disajikan dalam film Story of Kale tidak menggunakan kaidah struktur naratif tiga babak. Penggunaan struktur tiga babak terlihat dalam urutan kronologis cerita film Story of Kale tahap awal, munculnya persoalan dan konflik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan plot flashback dan teknik editing yang simultan dapat mengubah keseluruhan bentuk cerita naratif.AbstractThis study discusses the narrative structure of the three-act film Story Of Kale by looking at the dramatic elements in the story presented. The purpose of this study was to determine the dramatic stages of the three-act film Story of Kale and the plots used in packaging the story of the spin-off film directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko. The research method used is a qualitative description to see in depth the narrative structure and dramatic elements used starting from the early, middle and final stages. Analysis of the data on the object of this research uses the three-act narrative structure analysis technique according to Syd Field. The results of the analysis of this study found that the backward plot presented in the film Story of Kale does not use the rules of the three-act narrative structure. The use of a three-act structure is seen in the chronological order of the story of the early Story of Kale film, the emergence of problems and conflicts. This study concludes that the simultaneous use of flashback plots and editing techniques can change the overall form of the narrative story.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the convergence of digital media into the reality of peak phenomenon of modern society needs in the present. The popular culture of exploiting new media as a means of monetization obscures the movitation and the purpose of new media itself is created.In the discussion, it will show how the owner of YouTube account Bayu Skak, doing self presentation as a representation of Java community in audio visual works, as well as how monetization runs on the video blogs he created in the media platform YouTube.The researchers concluded that the YouTube Media as one of the popular new media forms clearly offers space for modern society to make money and contribute to capitalism by providing an opportunity for account owners to present himself and work through audio-visual media.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is entitled Simplification of Hit Ritual and Hofstede Cultural Dimensions in Sumo Version of Forte Ads. This study aims to understand the Harai Rituals in simplified Sumo rituals and Hofstede's cultural dimensions in FORTE cigarette product advertisements. The FORTE cigarette product is relatively new in the Indonesian market. This cigarette product originating from a Japanese company was launched by a local Indonesian company, PT Djarum. But in the advertisement, the product featured Sumo wrestlers who were squeezed by a frame which later revealed mighty tiny writing as the main FORTE cigarette slogan. In the discussion, it will be explained how Hofstede's dimensions of cultural cross are presented through the overall appearance of Forte's cigarette advertisements and products. The researcher concluded that the audio-visual work of Forte cigarette products in the form of advertisements was a simplification of the ritual of the Sumo sport for the purpose of product promotion and the duration of the ad itself. The Japanese cultural identity that appears in FORTE's cigarette advertisements through Sumo sports has the complexity of historical cultural dimensions which are full of meaning and philosophy.Keywords; Simplification, Harai, ritual, cultural, Hofstede, Forte.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berjudul Simplifikasi Ritual Harai dan Dimensi Kultural Hofstede dalam Iklan Forte Versi Sumo. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami Ritual Harai dalam ritual Sumo yang tersimplifikasi serta dimensi budaya Hofstede dalam iklan produk rokok FORTE. Adapun produk rokok FORTE ini tergolong baru di pasar Indonesia. Produk rokok yang berasal dari perusahaan Jepang ini diluncurkan oleh perusahaan lokal Indonesia, PT Djarum. Namun dalam penayangan iklannya, produk ini menampilkan pegulat Sumo yang terhimpit oleh frame yang kemudian memunculkan tulisan mighty tiny sebagai slogan utama rokok FORTE tersebut. Dalam pembahasan, akan dipaparkan bagaimana dimensi-dimensi lintas kultural Geert Hofstede dipaparkan melalui penampilan keseluruhan iklan dan produk rokok Forte. Peneliti mengambil kesimpulan bahwa karya audio visual produk rokok Forte yang berbentuk iklan merupakan simplifikasi ritual harai dalam olahraga Sumo demi tujuan promosi produk dan durasi iklan itu sendiri. Identitas budaya Jepang yang tampil dalam iklan rokok FORTE melalui olah raga Sumo memiliki kompleksitas dimensi kultural historis yang sarat makna dan filosofi.Kata kunci; Simplifikasi, ritual, Harai, kultural, Hofstede, Forte.

Abstract

Various film themes adorn cinema screens and digital platforms, but the theme of romance is still in demand by the people of Indonesia. The success of the film Later Kita Stories About Today, which presented a spin-off of the story in the film Story of Kale, made the production team experiment with packaging the story from a different point of view, with a similar plot in the film Story of Dinda. This study discusses narrative analysis in the film Story of Dinda with the aim of revealing the narrative picture of the film Story of Dinda so as to obtain a description of the discourse in terms of language, text and visuals. Using Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis method, this study aims to reveal the storyline from balance, disturbance to ending balance. The results of this study reveal that the film Story of Dinda tries to provide a discourse on toxic relationships in the form of emotional abuse by presenting the main plot of the story, a scene that takes place only in one location in a conversation between characters. The flashback scene can be concluded as a minor plot that is inserted with the aim of adding dramatization to the story, but its existence does not have a significant dramatic impact, only as a sweetener for the story.

Abstract

Online media in the era of digitalization has become an alternative choice for people in seeking information to replace conventional mass media. This study aims to see the relationship of online media in the development of tourist destinations in Gedung Juang45 in Bekasi Regency. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with the Pan and Kosicki framing analysis technique. The online media studied was Tribunnews to see news narratives in the 2019 to 2020 period using discourse analysis. News was analyzed by selecting topics related to the development of the Gedung Juang45 in Bekasi Regency on the Tribunnews Online Media Content. There were two news stories in March and August 2019, which mostly criticized the Bekasi Regency Government (Pemkab. Bekasi). On the other hand, when entering February to December 2020, researchers managed to find 13 supporting news for Pemkab. Bekasi regarding the construction of the Gedung Juang45. The results showed that of the 13 news, there is the same narrative to form the image construction of the Pemkab. Bekasi in increasing tourism, especially the Gedung Juang45 Tourism Destination.

Abstract

Capitalism permeates all cultural and ideological contexts of everyone, including those who consciously uphold the principles of socialism. A Chinese company called Fuyao, is a company engaged in the production of car glass on an international scale. In an effort to increase the company's production, Fuyao Glass America is immersed in the hegemony of capitalism in the midst of intercultural communication problems that actually become important issues and must be resolved internally in the factory. The context of capitalist hegemony along with ideological conflicts and intercultural communication is what the documentary American Factory depicts. Using Teun Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis, researcher wanted to look at the text, cognition and context as a whole that took place in the documentary. Researcher found in depth at the text manifested from dialogue, images, scenes and visualizations, the cognition manifested from the actors of filmmaking including the production house that houses its distribution, as well as the context of intercultural communication issues and ideological battles that exist in it. As a result of this study,  the documentary American Factory is a representation of the Chinese version of capitalism presented through policies and doctrines to the workers of Fuyao Glass America company in an effort to increase company productivity and capital investment in the United States.

Abstract

Desa Bungurasih adalah desa perbatasan Surabaya dan Sidoarjo yaitu berlokasi di Kecamatan Waru, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Letak desa ini sangat strategis karena berdekatan dengan Terminal terbesar di Indonesia, Terminal Purabaya (Terminal Bungurasih). Mata pencaharian dari warga Desa Bungurasih rata-rata adalah pegawai dan wirausaha. Karena aksesnya dekat dengan pabrik dan kantor, usaha yang dimiliki oleh warga kebanyakan bergerak di bidang kos-kosan, dan losmen atau hotel mini. Melihat jumlah ketimpangan yang terjadi pada persentase pekerja dan pengangguran, terdapat beberapa hal permasalahan yang mempengaruhi. Pertama, adanya berbagai macam jenis usaha yang dijalankan masyarakat Bungurasih tetapi selama ini masih didominasi oleh bisnis makanan. Ditinjau dari segi kreativitas, masyarakat cenderung menjual jenis makanan atau barang yang sama tanpa melakukan inovasi yang berbeda. Permasalahan ini memicu adanya hambatan kedua yaitu desa Bungurasih belum mampu untuk menemukan serta menonjolkan potensi yang dapat dikembangkan di dalam desa. Melalui Abdimas ini, harapannya dapat membantu UMKM di Bungurasih dalam hal digitalisasi berupa foto produk dan pelatihan penggunaan media sosial untuk mempromosikan produknya terutama produk fesyen yang diperuntukkan untuk hewan peliharaan atau “Anabul”. Luaran dari abdimas ini adalah kemampuan membuat unique selling point, perancangan branding, dan juga foto produk dan platform digital.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis konstruksi sosial tokoh lokal dalam Pilkada 2024, yang berperan penting dalam membentuk persepsi dan preferensi politik masyarakat. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi adalah bagaimana media, baik tradisional maupun digital, membangun citra tokoh politik yang sering kali tidak sesuai dengan kenyataan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali bagaimana media, simbol budaya, dan interaksi sosial mempengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap tokoh politik lokal. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi kasus, yang mencakup wawancara mendalam, analisis konten media, dan observasi lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media, terutama media sosial, memainkan peran sentral dalam membentuk citra politik tokoh lokal, baik melalui framing positif maupun negatif. Penggunaan simbol budaya dan narasi religius juga ditemukan efektif dalam membangun hubungan emosional dengan pemilih, namun harus otentik untuk menghindari persepsi manipulatif. Implikasi temuan ini penting bagi praktisi politik dalam merancang kampanye yang lebih transparan dan autentik, serta bagi masyarakat untuk lebih kritis terhadap narasi politik yang dibangun. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang pentingnya media digital dalam strategi kampanye politik dan membuka peluang untuk studi lanjutan mengenai teknologi baru dalam komunikasi politik.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the representation of bullying in the film Better Days (2019). Bullying is one of the social problems that is still concerning until now, especially in the realm of education. This phenomenon then became an inspiration for many filmmakers to raise this issue into a film, one of which was manifested in Better Days. This film is a Chinese film which tells a story of a high school girl who is bullied at her school when she is trying to cope with the pressures of competing for the college entrance exam. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with Michel Foucault’s power relations theory and Jager & Maier’s Critical Discourse Analysis. Those methods used with the aim to see how bullying is potrayed through discursive practices (dialogue), non-discursive practices(action) , as well as the materialization of objects shown in the Better Days film. Based on the result, the study found that this film succeeded in presenting a depiction of bullying behavior in school through dialogue, actions, and objects.And not only the depiction of bullying behavior, but this film also goes deeper by showing that the existing bullying cases do not only revolve around the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim, but through out the process there are many factors and parties who also involve in the complexity of solving the bullying cases. Such as the police, parents, and the people themselves who are often indifferent.Until now the cases of bullying is still a problem that is often encountered. Therefore, the public is expected to be more sensitive to the bullying that occur around them as an initial effort to reduce the increase in existing cases
