Abstract

The rapid development of information technology throughout the last few decades brings about a new color in the spread of information pattern. The availability of internet supported by the latest information technology, enables the media to spread information without limitation of space and time. Some issues addressed in this paper: how is the role of global capitalism in the spread of radical idelogy through social media? Furthermore, how is the inter-countries relation with regard to the spread of radical ideology? And what form of economy is created by the capitalisation of radical idelogy? Last but not least, what kind of actions being done by global network in order to advance security and to prevent the spread of radical ideology? The spread of radical ideology through social media has become study in contemporary global issues. This is because the relation of economy and political globalization is hardly separated. The economic gain of the global spread of radical ideology through social media will be qualitatively described in this paper. The act of spreading radical ideology using information technology brings benefit to the capitalist. Moreover, revolution of communication technology which also promotes globalization has raised awareness among nations: there is a problem that cannot be solved independently. Lastly, globalization also makes problem solving possible with the support of other countries.Keywords: Globalization, Radical Ideology, Social Media, Capitalism Global

Abstract

Abstract - The development of Information Technology which has impacts on the ease of producing and accessing information has caused the rapid circulation of information in the community. However, the circulation of this information does not completely contain the truth. Hoax information is intentionally produced and spread to the public through various application platforms aimed to distorting the facts so that the information is believed to be the real truth. This condition can be seen from the ease people share the information they receive through their smart devices to a number of people closest to them or to groups or community wherr they participate in.            This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data in this study was carried out by analyzing hoax news mapping data collected by the covid-19 handling task force through the covid19.go.id website obtained through the Indonesian Anti-Defamation Society (Mafindo). The news data and hoax information in the form of verbal and visual were analyzed with a qualitative content analysis approach to analyze how the hoax phenomenon during this pandemic was deliberately created and spread by the public.Furthermore, the results of the analysis are examined with the perspective of Jean Baudillard's simulacra and hyperreality.            The result shows that information as the main product of the information society is no longer dominated by information producers such as television and newspapers, but now anyone who has a device and is connected to the internet can produce information. The impact of this is that humans are trapped in false reality and dwell on duplication and superficiality. Keyword: information technology, hoax covid-19, simulacrum jean baudillard

Abstract

The issue of gender is still a debate in society today. Women cannot enjoy a free life, and are often constrained to follow the rules that exist in society. Film as one of the mass media that can convey messages widely, has become a medium used by feminist fighters to raise the issue. One of them is Greta Gerwig's Little Women. The film tells the story of the author's life journey with 3 sisters, each of whom has a dream when they grow up, but has to deal with the rules that limit them, which of course becomes an inner struggle for the March brothers, between achieving their dreams or living in a marriage. The researcher uses a qualitative approach, with Liberal Feminism Theory and Sara Mills Critical Discourse Analysis to analyze the film based on the position of the subject, object, and audience. Intended to find discrimination, as well as stereotypes contained in the film, as the cause of the inner turmoil of women in the film Little Women. The conclusion of this film represents the position of women as marginalized and not getting equal opportunities with men. Various aspects of life limit women's space for movement and place women in a women's social construction, causing inner turmoil in living life between following their wishes, or the rules in society.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk melihat seberapa besar dampak foto jurnalistik dalam memengaruhi pemilih, terutama pada masa pemilihan umum kepala daerah DKI Jakarta putaran kedua. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Kerangka teoretis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan konstruksi sosial dan agenda setting untuk mengetahui bagaimana media melakukan konstruksi pada saat melakukan pemberitaan pada masa kampanye pemilihan kepala daerah DKI Jakarta. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa surat kabar Kompas dan Republika dalam memublikasikan pemberitaan pemilihan kepala daerah DKI Jakarta memiliki agenda yang berbeda. Kompas, dalam pemberitaannya tampak memihak kepada salah seorang kandidat calon kepala daerah, namun masih memberikan porsi seimbang untuk publikasi dari pasangan kandidat calon kepala daerah yang lain. Sementara itu, Republika memberikan  perhatian lebih terhadap salah satu pasangan kandidat calon kepala daerah DKI Jakarta. Pemberitaan yang ditampilkan dalam bentuk visual foto jurnalistik banyak didominasi oleh pasangan salah satu calon kepala daerah DKI Jakarta. Foto jurnalistik akan memiliki dampak atau pengaruh untuk membentuk opini publik atau pemilih, apabila foto mengenai sebuah isu diberitakan secara terus-menerus oleh media.Kata kunci: foto jurnalistik, pilkada DKI, konstruksi sosial, agenda setting AbstractThe Impacts of Photojournalism in Local Newspaper During The Jakarta Regional Head Election Campaign in Influencing The Voters.  This research aims to analyze the impact of photojournalism in influencing the voters especially during the regional head election on the second round.  This research was conducted using qualitative method. The theoretical framework used in this research was social construction and agenda setting to analyze how the media have constructed the news and published it during the regional election. Based on the result and the discussion of this research, it could be concluded that Kompas and Republika newspaper had different agenda in publishing news on Jakarta regional election. Kompas, although seems to tend on one of the candidates, still published proportional information for both candidates, whereas Republika gave more portion towards one specific candidate. The publication presented on the newspaper especially photos of one specific candidate dominated the news release. Photojournalism will give impacts and influences for the voters' public opinion when it is published continuously by the media.Keywords: photojournalism, Jakarta regional election, social construction, agenda setting

Abstract

Politik Indonesia saat ini mengarah kepada  politik identitas.  Pertarungan wacana politik identitas sangat kental terjadi pada Pemilu 2019. Hal tersebut menjadi indikasi bahwa politik identitas di Indonesia saat ini  dimanfaatkan sebagai strategi untuk mencapai atau memenangkan kontestasi pemilu. Berbagai upaya tersebut dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan berbagai media, salah satu media yang digunakan adalah medium visual fotografi. Fotografi digunakan sebagai saluran kampanye, hal tersebut karena medium visual ini dinilai memiliki kekuatan untuk membentuk opini ditengah masyarakat. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka penelitian ini ingin mengetahui makna pesan pada foto deklarasi kemenangan Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan  menganalisa foto deklarasi kemenangan pasangan calon Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, Joko Widodo dan KH. Ma’ruf Amin. Foto deklarasi tersebut dianalisa dengan enam perspektif analisa pesan visual Paul Martin Lester. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna foto deklarasi kemenangan calon Presiden dan Wakil Presiden, Joko  Widodo dan KH Ma’ruf Amin adalah foto tersebut tampaknya pasangan ingin mengusung pesan identitas nasionalis relijius atau Islam nusantara yang dekat dengan rakyat. Abstract

Film as a communication medium is audio-visual which is used to deliver messages to audiences. This article aims to explain the linguistic space for discourse on social phenomena in post-war I and II through the audio-visual medium The Peaky Blinders film in relation to the emergence of discriminatory discourse on social status among the lower class people, namely ex-soldiers workers. The critical paradigm is used as a perspective in this article. The results that have been analyzed by the author are that social inequality has an impact, namely the existence of social hegemony and power takes place when the grassroots including the proletariat have accepted and imitated the way of life, way of thinking, and views of the elite group that dominates and exploits them and causes some discrimination, namely such as discrimination of a profession or position, discrimination of clothing, and discrimination of behavior or manners.

Abstract

Photography can be used as a means to convey a narrative or a message behind the presented visuals. In the context of political communication, narrative has the power to influence and win opinions. In regard to this, one particular political narrative at which it is interesting to take a closer look among the political moments in Indonesia is the victory declaration in the 2019 Presidential Election contest. Victory declaration is a political phenomenon that occurred in the 2014 and 2019 Presidential Elections. In both occasions this event led to riots. Based on the description above, the research questions are: (1) How is visual photography produced as a medium to convey narratives within political message? and (2) How does the public as viewers or recipients of political messages perceive political messages in the visual form? This study aimed to identify the meaning of political narratives and the interrelationships of photography in the political context in Indonesia. The method employed in this study was Paul Ricœur’s Hermeneutics, with reference to semantic understanding, reflective understanding and existential understanding. An interpretive paradigm with data sources in the form of declaration photos, interviews with photographers and viewers. Our results showed that political success depends on individual aspects in carrying out their roles. In this context these roles of the individuals refer to political figures, agents and supporters. Interrelationships between roles in such group of individuals mainly revolve around cooperation in realizing common prosperity in political goals. This study concludes that cooperation between politicians, agents and supporters must be guided by political ethics as the main guideline for behaving and acting for the sake of achieving common prosperity. In addition, the use of technology in politics must be guided by ethics as an effort to realize a political system that is just, responsible, trustworthy, and meets the moral standards expected by society. Together, individuals, including politicians, agents and society, broadly play the role of moral agents to achieve politics with integrity, honesty and trustworthiness.

Abstract

Abstract Communication is the main part used as a means of delivering messages in order to achieve the goals. Political communication is carried out in various ways, namely meeting face to face, giving political messages during political activities, or speaking directly through the media. In fact, it is possible that political communication messages being conveyed using figurative language, analogies and forms of cultural works such as oral literature or what is popularly called pantun. This research seeks to know how the narration of political communication messages conveyed by Cak Imin in the form of parikan. The purpose of this study is to explain how parikan words or sentences used in political communication possess their own narrative from the literal meaning that appears in figurative meanings. In addition, this research also wants to explain the relationship between oral literature and messages in the context of political communication. The method used in this study is qualitative, with a descriptive approach that focuses on political communication messages conveyed by Cak Imin in the form of parikan ludruk in various political activities of the PKB in 2022. Data analysis in this study uses Fantasy Theme Analysis (FTA) which refers to 4 main concepts: Fantasy Theme, Fantasy Chain, Fantasy Type and Rhetorical Vision. Based on the results, it seems that the narrative use of parikan ludruk at the level of political communication is a political communication strategy that illustrates the dynamic efforts of politicians to find more effective forms of delivering political messages. This unique message delivery is ultimately able to attract publicattention, and indirectly the political message is received by the community so that the communication process can run effectively. Political Communications; Symbolic Convergence; Parikan Ludruk; PKB; Political Pantun Abstrak Komunikasi menjadi bagian yang utama dan penting untuk digunakan sebagai sarana menyampaikan pesan demi tercapainya tujuan yang ingin diraih. Komunikasi politik tersebut dilakukan dengan berbagai cara yaitu bertemu tatap muka secara langsung, memberikan pesan politik pada saat kegiatan politik atau berbicara langsung melalui media. Bahkan, tidak menutup kemungkinan pesan komunikasi politik tersebut disampaikan dengan menggunakan bahasa-bahasa kiasan, analogi atau bentuk-bentuk karya budaya seperti karya sastra lisan atau yang popular disebut dengan pantun. Berdasarkan pada hal tersebut maka penelitian ini mengetahui bagaimana narasi dari pesan komunikasi politik yang disampaikan oleh Cak Imin dalam bentuk parikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini sendiri adalah untuk menjelaskan bagaimana kata-kata atau kalimat parikan yang digunakan dalam komunikasi politik memiliki narasi tersendiri dari makna harafiah yang tampak dalam makna-makna kiasan. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga ingin menjelaskan hubungan antara karya sastra lisan dengan pesan dalam konteks komunikasi politik. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif yang berfokus pada pesan-pesan komunikasi politik yang disampaikan oleh Cak Imin dalam bentuk parikan ludruk diberbagai kegiatan politik dari Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa pada tahun 2022. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Analisis Tema Fantasy (ATF). Analisis Tema Fantasy (ATF) yang mengacu pada 4 konsep utama: Tema Fantasi (Fantasy Theme), Rantai Fantasi (Fantasy Chaining), Tipe Fantasi (Fantasy Type), dan Visi Retoris (Rethorical Vision) merupakan analisis metode yang akan dipergunakan untuk mengkaji narasi pesan komunikasi politik dalam bentuk parikan ludruk. Berdasarkan pada hasil maka tampaknya narasi penggunaan parikan ludruk pada level komunikasi politik merupakan strategi komunikasi politik yang menggambarkan upaya politisi yang dinamis untuk mencari bentuk penyampaian pesan politik secara lebih efektif. Penyampaian pesan yang unik inilah yang pada akhirnya mampu menarik perhatian masyarakat dan secara tidak langsung pesan politk tersebut diterima oleh masyarakat sehingga proses komunikasi dapat berjalan efektif. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital yang sedemikian pesat pada saat ini memiliki dampak perubahan di berbagai lini masyarakat. Perubahan perilaku dan kebiasaan baru salah satunya tampak dari bagaimana masyarakat berinteraksi dengan berbagai platform teknologi digital yang digunakan sebagai saluran komunikasi dan bersosialiasasi. Melalui berbagai platform digital tersebut, masyarakat tidak saja dapat dengan mudah mendapatkan informasi, tetapi juga dapat mengolah dan memproduksi informasi. Perubahan peran dari konsumen ke produsen tersebut merupakan salah satu pengaruh teknologi yang mendorong masyarakat saat ini berada pada era masyarakat informasi. Namun demikian, konten yang diproduksi oleh pengguna pada dasarnya mendatangkan keuntungan besar untuk operator media sosial melalui konten yang diproduksi oleh pengguna dan tentunya juga berasal dari iklan. Monetisasi ini dianggap pengguna sebagai peluang untuk mendapatkan penghasilan melalui media sosial. Sehingga, para pengguna berlomba-lomba dengan berbagai cara memproduksi konten agar bisa mencapai monetisasi yang sesuai dengan syarat dan ketentuan dari operator media sosial. Di satu sisi tampaknya para pengguna media sosial ini tidak sadar bahwa keberadaan mereka dalam bermedia sosial pada dasarnya merupakan instrumen dari sistem yang terdapat pada media sosial itu sendiri Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus pada penggunaan media sosial Bigo Live. Data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisa sejumlah akun broadcaster atau penyiar di akun Bigo Live dan melakukan wawancara terhadap para broadcaster. Akun broadcaster dan hasil wawncara dianalisa dengan pendekatan studi kasus untuk melihat bagaimana fenomena kapitalisasi digital melalui Bigo Live dilakukan oleh operator media sosial. Selanjutnya, hasil dari analisis tersebut dikaji dengan perspektif manusia satu dimensi Herbert Marcuse.
