Abstract

Severe skin injuries caused by burns, chronic wounds, and trauma remain a major clinical challenge due to limited graft survival and delayed vascular integration following transplantation. Insufficient early vascularization frequently leads to ischemia and graft failure, restricting the effectiveness of conventional tissue-engineered skin substitutes. This study aims to develop a pre-vascularized skin graft using a co-axial electrospinning technique integrated with endothelial progenitor cells to enhance early vascular functionality and graft viability. An experimental biofabrication approach was employed, involving the fabrication of core–shell electrospun fibrous scaffolds, encapsulation of endothelial progenitor cells, and comprehensive structural and biological evaluation in vitro. Scaffold morphology, porosity, and integrity were characterized, followed by assessment of cell viability, proliferation, endothelial marker expression, and formation of vascular-like networks. The results demonstrated that co-axial electrospinning produced uniform, highly porous fibrous scaffolds capable of maintaining endothelial progenitor cell viability and supporting their angiogenic behavior. Encapsulated cells exhibited sustained proliferation and organized into capillary-like structures within the scaffold matrix, while scaffold architecture remained structurally stable. These findings indicate that the proposed biofabrication strategy enables intrinsic pre-vascularization of engineered skin grafts prior to implantation. In conclusion, co-axial electrospinning combined with endothelial progenitor cells represents a promising and scalable approach for generating pre-vascularized skin grafts, with significant potential to improve graft integration and clinical outcomes in regenerative skin therapy.

Abstract

In recent years, the demand for personalized education has increased, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, where students’ learning needs vary significantly. In Indonesia, traditional classroom-based teaching methods struggle to accommodate the diverse learning styles and paces of students. With the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), there is a growing opportunity to design adaptive learning platforms that provide personalized learning experiences. However, such platforms are still underutilized in Indonesian high schools, especially in STEM education. This study aims to develop and evaluate an AI-based adaptive learning platform tailored to personalized STEM education for high school students in Indonesia. The platform’s primary goal is to enhance student engagement and academic performance by adapting learning materials and strategies based on individual student progress and preferences. The research utilized a design-based methodology, developing the platform using AI algorithms to monitor and adjust content delivery according to the student’s learning pace, strengths, and weaknesses. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with pre- and post-assessments conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the platform in a sample of 200 high school students across four Indonesian schools. The platform significantly improved student engagement, with a 15% increase in STEM learning outcomes. Students demonstrated higher retention rates and improved problem-solving abilities, especially in mathematics and science. The AI-based adaptive learning platform proves to be a promising tool for personalized STEM education, enhancing both student learning experiences and academic performance in Indonesian high schools.

Abstract

Background. The effectiveness of inclusive learning technologies for neurodivergent learners is strongly influenced by how well these tools align with cognitive and behavioral needs. Cognitive Behavioral Theories (CBT) provide a structured framework for addressing learning barriers by focusing on thought patterns, emotional regulation, and adaptive behaviors. Purpose. This study aimed to investigate the development and evaluation of inclusive learning technologies grounded in CBT frameworks. Specifically, it examined how these technologies can empower neurodivergent learners—such as those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and dyslexia—by improving focus, self-regulation, and active participation in the learning process. Method. The research employed a mixed-methods approach involving 220 neurodivergent learners across higher education and special education settings. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-intervention surveys measuring cognitive engagement, emotional regulation, and perceived inclusivity. Results. The findings indicate that CBT-informed digital tools significantly enhanced self-monitoring, reduced task-related anxiety, and increased collaborative engagement across diverse learning contexts. Learners with ADHD showed marked improvements in task persistence, while those with dyslexia demonstrated better comprehension outcomes when adaptive text and cognitive scaffolding features were included. Conclusion. This study highlights the transformative role of CBT-based inclusive technologies in empowering neurodivergent learners. By embedding cognitive-behavioral strategies into digital learning platforms, educators can design interventions that promote equity, resilience, and sustainable learning outcomes. The results carry important implications for future policy, curriculum design, and educational technology innovation aimed at inclusive education.

Abstract

The growing global emphasis on sustainable development has prompted renewed interest in aligning the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with Islamic legal and ethical principles. This study explores the conceptual integration of the SDGs within the framework of Maqasid al-Shari‘a (the higher objectives of Islamic law), focusing on how Islamic economic law can operationalize sustainability through justice, equity, and human welfare. The research aims to construct a normative and practical framework that harmonizes the ethical imperatives of Maqasid al-Shari‘a with the multidimensional targets of the SDGs, particularly in areas of poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and social inclusion. A qualitative doctrinal approach is employed, combining textual analysis of classical Islamic legal sources with comparative evaluation of contemporary economic policies and global sustainability reports. The findings indicate that Maqasid al-Shari‘a naturally aligns with SDG principles through shared values such as preservation of life, intellect, wealth, lineage, and faith, forming a moral foundation for sustainable economic governance. The proposed framework demonstrates that integrating SDGs into Islamic legal thought can strengthen policy legitimacy, bridge ethical and developmental paradigms, and foster a holistic model for modern Islamic economic law.

Abstract

The rise of hybrid education in Indonesian higher education has necessitated the development of new assessment approaches to evaluate students’ collaborative skills in digitally mediated learning environments. Traditional group assessment methods often fail to capture the complexity of teamwork processes that occur across both face-to-face and online modalities. This study aims to design, implement, and validate a novel framework and rubric for assessing collaborative competence in hybrid project-based courses. The framework integrates dimensions of digital interaction, task coordination, communication ethics, and reflective collaboration to align with the 21st-century skill requirements in higher education. A design-based research (DBR) methodology was employed, involving three iterative cycles of development, implementation, and evaluation. Participants included 120 undergraduate students from education and engineering faculties at three Indonesian universities. Data were collected through observation, peer-assessment forms, and reflective journals, and analyzed using mixed methods—quantitative reliability testing of the rubric and qualitative thematic analysis of students’ reflections. The findings indicate that the new rubric achieved high inter-rater reliability (Cronbach’s ? = 0.89) and effectively differentiated between levels of collaborative performance. Students demonstrated increased awareness of equitable participation and digital communication norms when the rubric was integrated into formative feedback processes. The study concludes that the proposed framework and rubric offer a practical and context-sensitive tool for assessing collaboration in hybrid higher education settings. The model contributes to both pedagogical assessment design and the broader discourse on digital collaboration in Southeast Asian higher education.

Abstract

Background. The rapid evolution of digital technologies has significantly impacted corporate training methods. Traditional e-learning environments have been widely adopted, yet the emergence of ubiquitous learning (u-learning) presents a shift towards more flexible, context-aware learning experiences. Despite the growing interest, limited studies provide a comparative analysis between e-learning and u-learning in corporate settings. Purpose. This research aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of e-learning and u-learning environments in corporate training, focusing on learner engagement, content delivery, and overall performance. Method. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with corporate employees who participated in both e-learning and u-learning training programs. Data were collected across several multinational companies, and analyzed using statistical tools to identify performance trends and engagement metrics. Results. Findings reveal that u-learning environments enhance learner engagement and adaptability due to their flexibility in accessing content across diverse devices and contexts. Conversely, e-learning showed better outcomes in structured, course-driven scenarios but lacked the same level of interaction and contextual learning. Conclusion. The study concludes that u-learning environments provide a more personalized and engaging training experience, particularly for employees with diverse learning needs. Organizations should consider integrating u-learning strategies alongside traditional e-learning for more dynamic corporate training programs.
