Abstract

This study meticulously analyzes the multifaceted issue of Domestic Violence (KDRT) in Magelang Regency, focusing on its root causes, the efficacy of legal resolutions, and the pivotal role of Islamic values. Findings indicate that KDRT is primarily driven by gender role imbalance, economic pressures, and dysfunctional communication, further exacerbated by ingrained patriarchal perceptions. Legal recourse predominantly follows litigation pathways, which are frequently hampered by protracted processes and social stigma, while the restorative justice approach remains sub-optimally and unsystematically implemented. Despite the theoretical relevance of Law No. 23 of 2004 and the principles of Islamic family law, the practical internalization of values such as justice, mutual consultation (musyawarah), and harmonious cohabitation (mu’asyarah bil ma’ruf) within Muslim families in Magelang is notably underdeveloped. This research highlights a significant disparity between the existing legal framework and its practical application. Consequently, the study advocates for multi-structural interventions, including the reinforcement of pre-marital education grounded in Islamic principles, professional family mediation services, and the active engagement of religious leaders. The ultimate objective is to foster a just, peaceful, and transformative approach to KDRT resolution, underpinned by the objectives of Islamic law (maqāshid al-syarī‘ah), thereby cultivating harmonious and violence-free families.

Abstract

Religious-based socio-political polarization is one of the main challenges in strengthening social cohesion and religious life in post-reform Indonesia. The increasing politicization of religious identity in the lead-up to the 2024 elections demonstrates that religion serves not only as a source of moral values but also as an instrument of political mobilization that has the potential to threaten moderation and tolerance among religious communities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between socio-political polarization and the internalization of religious moderation in Indonesia, values in the context of a politically and ideologically fragmented society. Data were gathered from 25 participants—religious leaders, academics, civil society activists, and young voters from five provinces—through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. With the aid of NVivo 14 software, thematic approaches were used to analyze the data. The findings show that while religious moderation is still symbolic and has not yet fully ingrained itself in society's social consciousness, religious polarization is strengthened by the use of social media as a platform for political identity fights. The participation of interfaith leaders, religious digital literacy, and intercultural education are important elements that promote moderation; algorithmic media bias and political fragmentation are important obstacles.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the inconsistency of religious practice among converts (muallaf) and explore tolerance education strategies as efforts to achieve family harmony. Religious conversion often brings significant psychological, social, and familial adjustments, particularly in pluralistic societies. In many cases, converts experience fluctuating religious commitment due to identity reconstruction, social pressure, and limited support systems. These inconsistencies may trigger tension within families, especially in interfaith or culturally diverse contexts. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design involving converts and their families in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that religious inconsistency is influenced by emotional instability, limited religious literacy, social stigma, and inadequate family communication. The study further identifies that tolerance based education strategies such as dialogical communication, inclusive religious understanding, and family-based value reinforcement significantly contribute to strengthening emotional bonds and maintaining family harmony. This research recommends integrating structured tolerance education programs within family and community religious guidance frameworks.
