Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of describing the level of learning achievement through the use of the Scattergories Game in Teaching the English vocabulary mastery of fifth-grade students at MI Nurul Huda Banyubang. The focus of the study was to improve the mastery of noun and verb vocabulary within the daily activities’ topic, particularly parts of the body, as well as to identify supporting factors in the implementation of Scattergories Game in Teaching.  The  study  was  carried  out  using  a  Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, with data collected through observation, interviews, and testing. The participants of this study consisted of 14 students. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Scattergories Game in Teaching students better understand, remember, and articulate vocabulary with greater ease. In addition, the use of Scattergories Game in Teaching encouraged active student participation in the learning process and built their confidence in using vocabulary in both oral and written contexts. Based on the findings from the initial test (Cycle I) and the final test (Cycle II), there was a noticeable improvement in the mastery of both noun and verb vocabulary after the application of the game-based learning method. From the data analysis, it can be concluded that Scattergories Game in Teaching is an effective, engaging, and enjoyable learning medium that supports the development of English vocabulary skills at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study discusses the utilization of digital media in learning at MI Al-Asyhar Palang Tuban in the digital era. The research aims to describe the implementation of digital media in the learning process, identify the obstacles faced by teachers and students, and formulate solutions to improve the effectiveness of digital-based learning. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted for one month. Data were collected through interviews and observations, while data validity was tested using source triangulation. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, including data collection, data reduction, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that digital media such as learning videos, YouTube, podcasts, and audio learning have been implemented in several subjects and contributed positively to the learning process. The use of digital media increased students’ motivation, participation, understanding, and digital literacy skills. In addition, digital media supported the development of 21st-century skills and strengthened character and religious values through teacher guidance. However, the implementation still faced several challenges, including limited facilities, unstable internet access, and unequal teacher competence in utilizing technology. Therefore, support for infrastructure, teacher training, and collaboration between schools and parents is needed to optimize digital learning in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.

Abstract

This study aims to review and synthesize existing literature on students' learning interest in thematic learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic Elementary School). Learning interest is a key internal factor that drives students' active participation, enthusiasm, and learning outcomes, particularly in thematic learning, which integrates several subjects around one meaningful theme as mandated by the 2013 Curriculum. This research used a literature review method by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing findings from national journal articles, conference proceedings, and institutional data published between 2016 and 2026. The review shows that students' learning interest in thematic learning at the elementary level is generally influenced by two categories of factors: internal factors, including intelligence, attention, talent, motivation, readiness, and fatigue; and external factors, including teaching methods, learning media, family support, school environment, and teacher-student interaction. Teaching methods and the teacher's approach were consistently identified as the most dominant factor across the reviewed studies, followed by the availability and variation of learning media. Studies conducted specifically in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah found that portfolio-based learning, interactive digital media, and contextual, religiously-integrated themes were effective in increasing engagement. This review concludes that optimizing learning interest in thematic learning requires collaborative efforts among teachers, schools, and families.

Abstract

Community empowerment has become a strategic approach to achieving sustainable local economic development by encouraging active community participation in the development process. However, many local communities still face challenges such as limited human resource capacity, inadequate access to capital, low innovation, and weak institutional support, resulting in low levels of economic independence. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Society Action Research (SAR) approach in improving local economic independence through community empowerment. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method by reviewing books, scientific journals, government reports, and other relevant literature concerning community empowerment, participatory action research, and local economic development. The collected data were analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the Society Action Research approach effectively strengthens community participation in identifying local problems, planning development programs, implementing community-based economic activities, and conducting participatory evaluation. Furthermore, this approach contributes to improving entrepreneurial skills, strengthening local economic institutions, expanding market access, and increasing community self-reliance through collaborative and sustainable development processes. Therefore, Society Action Research can serve as an effective model for promoting sustainable local economic empowerment by integrating research activities with practical community actions.
