WhatsApp has been extensively used by many English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in Indonesia as a near synchronous online learning platform. This program enables users to make announcements, exchange ideas and learning materials, and participate in online debates. Some recent publications inform its utilization in learning language, yet little discusses how students engage in the learning activities. Therefore, to fill this void, the present study aims to investigate the students' behavioral engagement during online learning using WhatsApp. To collect the data, this study employed observation and semi-structured interviews. An observation was completed in one class at a state university in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia to perceive how the students responded to the teacher's instructions during the learning process. Meanwhile, the interviews were conducted with nine students in a similar class. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that students engaged behaviourally by (1) posing questions or comments politely, (2) using emoticons and emojis as politeness reinforcements, and (3) confirming the unclear information behind the scene. Implications for teaching and further studies are discussed.

Kegiatan ini mengkaji implementasi program literasi digital di kalangan siswa SMPN 4 Kota Tangerang, dengan fokus pada peningkatan pemahaman tentang penggunaan media sosial yang bertanggung jawab. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, program ini menganalisis data sekunder dari dokumentasi kegiatan penyuluhan literasi digital. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman siswa tentang risiko media sosial, dari 45% menjadi 78% pasca-program. Implementasi program menggunakan metode multi-dimensi, mengintegrasikan ceramah informatif dan diskusi interaktif, dengan tingkat partisipasi mencapai 85%. Program berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran privasi digital, dengan 82% siswa menunjukkan pemahaman komprehensif tentang keamanan online dan etika bermedia sosial. Evaluasi program mengungkapkan efektivitas pendekatan interaktif dalam meningkatkan literasi digital remaja, dengan rekomendasi untuk pengembangan program berkelanjutan yang melibatkan ekosistem pendidikan secara lebih luas.

Pandemi COVID-19 yang melanda dunia berdampak pada segala aspek kehidupan tak terkecuali dunia pendidikan. Pola pembelajaran tatap muka di sekolah telah bergeser dari pembelajaran tradisoonal tatap muka menjadi pembelajaran jarak jauh yang dilakukan secara online. Penerapan pembelajaran online di masa pandemi memaksa terjadinya transformasi digital dalam dunia pendidikan sehingga menimbulkan beberapa permasalahan, dua di antaranya adalah teknologi dan sumber daya manusia. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh FKIP Universitas Islam Syekh Yusuf berupa pendampingan belajar siswa sekolah dasar di wilayah Kebon Nanas Kota Tangerang. Lokasi tersebut dipilih berdasarkan laporan dari hasil studi pendahuluan. Metode yang digunakan beruoa ekspositori. Abstract This study had quasi-experimental design which was intended to get empirical evidence of the effectiveness of using video recorded speaking on students' speaking skill. The population was the tenth grade students of SMAN 7 Kota Tangerang. The sample was 68 students chosen through classified into two classes, experimental and controlled class. The instrument was test where students must practice dialogue. The results of testing normality from video recording (experimental) in Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Shapiro-Wilk test is not normally but in the learning outcomes from using traditional method (control) with Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is normally distributed and the Shapiro-Wilk test is not normally distributed. The next analysis homogeneity test the result that the significance value > 0.05 (0.147 > 0.05), thus it can be concluded that the variants of both data groups, control and experimental classes are homogenous. The last based on the results of the Non parametric tests the data presented in table 4.5 indicate that p > 0.01, meaning that there is a difference between experiment class and control class in terms of learning outcomes of Speaking Skill students. It can be said that the level of students' speaking skill between experiment class and control class is basically different. Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means there is a significant effect of video recording on students'speaking skill. Keyword: correlative conjunction, speaking, video recorded speaking.

This research was conducted to investigate the use of the Duolingo application in improving students’ vocabulary mastery to the eleventh-grade students of SMK Gemilang Modernland in the academic year 2022/2023 and to find out students’ perception on the use of Duolingo application in improving their vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher takes mixed-method research: (a) quantitative: pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test, and (b) qualitative: questionnaire. The researcher takes students in XI AP of SMK Gemilang Modernland as her subject of the research with four meetings. Based on the tests result, the students’ score is increased. The mean score of pre-test is 67.84, and the mean score of post-test is 77.52. It shows that the post- test’s mean is higher than the pre-test’s mean. Based on the questionnaire, the result of the research showed that the use of Duolingo in teaching English has many positive effects to the students, such as; the Duolingo feature was helpful to improving their motivation to study English, the characteristics of Duolingo can improve their effort in learning and Duolingo also make the students enjoy the exercises in learning English. Furthermore, nearly all students feel that they will continue to use Duolingo to study English.
