Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was determine whether there was a significant influence using Socratic Circles Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Eleventh Grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021. The method of the research used quantitative research with quasi-experimental research. In this research design consists of experimental class without random selection. The students was tested by using pre-test and post-test. And the result of this research was statistical calculation by kolmogorov-smirnova test, based on testing of hypothesis, it was known that the sig (0.000) was similar than 0.05. There for it can be conclude that there is a positive effect of Socratic Circles Strategy on Students’ Reading Comprehension at Eleventh Grade of SMKI AL KHOIRAT KabupatenTangerang.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to find out the correlation between students’ reading speed and their reading comprehension of descriptive text among the tenth-grade students of SMAN 14 Kabupaten Tangerang in the academic year 2018/2019. The population of this research is the whole students in tenth grade at SMAN 14 Kabupaten Tangerang. The writers chose 73 students as the sample of this research by using simple random sampling. In this research, the writers applied principles of the quantitative method with correlation form. The data was collected by using Reading Speed as variable X and Reading Comprehension as variable Y. The data is analyzed by using Pearson correlate and the result of it is 0.398. It means the result of r-xy (0.398) is higher than the r-table (0.329). So it can be concluded that there is a positive correlation between students’ reading speed and their reading comprehension among tenth-grade students of SMAN 14 Kabupaten Tangerang in academic years 2018/2019.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the Independent Campus Learning Curriculum at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) from the perspective of students and field supervisors. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews. The research respondents consisted of six students and three field supervisors from the Syekh-Yusuf Islamic University. The results of the research show that the majority of students agree that the policies, information system and guidebook for Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) are in accordance with the guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Culture. However, several obstacles such as course conversion regulations and inadequate responses from field supervisors are still obstacles in implementing the program. However, all respondents were also greatly helped by the easy access to information from the Ministry of Education and Culture via the YouTube channel. The interview results also showed that all respondents were very happy to take part in MBKM activities, especially the campus teaching program. Recommendations for improvement include converting the maximum value of 20 credits given to study programs, increasing training for supervisors, as well as improving coordination between universities and the Ministry of Education and Culture. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) dari perspektif mahasiswa dan dosen pembimbing lapangan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner dan wawancara. Responden penelitian terdiri dari enam mahasiswa dan tiga dosen pembimbing lapangan dari Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa setuju bahwa kebijakan, sistem informasi, dan buku panduan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) sudah sesuai dengan pedoman dari Kemendikbud. Namun, beberapa kendala seperti regulasi konversi mata kuliah dan respon dari dosen pembimbing lapangan yang belum maksimal masih menjadi hambatan dalam pelaksanaan program. Meskipun demikian, semua responden juga sangat terbantu dengan kemudahan akses informasi dari Kemendikbud melalui kanal YouTube. Hasil wawancara juga menunjukkan bahwa semua responden sangat senang mengikuti kegiatan MBKM khusunya program kampus mengajar. Rekomendasi untuk perbaikan meliputi konversi nilai maksimal sebesar 20 SKS yang diberikan prodi, peningkatan pelatihan untuk dosen pembimbing, serta peningkatan koordinasi antara universitas dan Kemendikbud

Abstract

One of the problems that causes students to have difficulty in improving their English skills is the lack of vocabulary mastery. This research aims to determine whether the use of flash card teaching media can improve students' vocabulary mastery. This research uses a classroom action research design with a quantitative method conducted on students in the fourth grade at SDN Pondok Jagung Timur in Tangerang Selatan. The researcher presented the result and the analysis of data collected that consisted of pre-test, cycle 1, and post-test. Each cycle of the research consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection activities. In the research, there are some steps before cycle 1, there are observation and pre-test. The last step after cycle 1 is the post-test. The result of the research showed that Flash cards could improve the students’ mastery of vocabulary. It can be identified from the mean score of the test which increased from 69,8 in the pre-test to 91,0 in the post-test. The use of flashcards may attract the student’s attention to the lesson well. It also might improve the participation of students in learning. They were not shy anymore and were motivated to attend the instructional process

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mastery of English vocabulary through "card game" learning media. This research was conducted in grade 2 elementary school in Tangerang district by using classroom action research (PTK) approach in 2 cycles. The results showed that the use of card game learning media can improve students' vocabulary mastery. The number of students in this study was 11 students. It was found that there was a significant increase in students' vocabulary mastery from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Thus, it can be concluded that card games are effective in improving students' English vocabulary mastery in grade 2

Abstract

Students who study foreign languages have weaknesses in the vocabulary they learn. The aim of this research is to determine the process of increasing students' vocabulary mastery through the word square game in class II elementary school students in the city of Tangerang for the 2023/2024 school year. The subjects of this research were second grade elementary school students for the 2023/2024 academic year. This class consists of 11 students. This research uses quantitative methods. The results of the analysis in collecting data, researchers use tests. The tests were given in the form of pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. Researchers analyzed the average score of each test to determine the increase in students' vocabulary mastery after carrying out these actions. students' mastery of skills increases optimally. This can be seen from the pre-test score of 80, post-test 1 90, and post-test 2 92.27. After implementing the actions, researchers were able to solve problems in increasing mastery of understanding. Students are able to understand the meaning of words based on the context. By using the word square game in vocabulary learning, students can easily understand and memorize new vocabulary. In the vocabulary learning process, when the teacher uses the word square game, students look very enthusiastic and enjoy the learning process.

Abstract

Unfortunately, many people experience reading difficulties, affecting their educational attainment and overall quality of life. Addressing this challenge has been a focus of researchers, educators and policymakers for decades. This research aims to determine the impact of the orthographic method on the development of reading comprehension in grade 4 students. The research design used was a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test research design. Researchers used quantitative research methods with a pre-experimental planning strategy to determine the influence of the Orthographic Method on students' inspiration to learn English comprehension. A total of 40 sample students were selected as the sample for this research. The main components of data collection techniques are tests that are used to evaluate students' progress towards learning goals and their abilities can be seen as an evaluation tool in this context. The researchers used a research method called one-group pre-tested posttest design and compared the differences between the pretest and posttest. The results of this research there is a significant improvement in teaching using the orthographic method on students' reading comprehension in test subjects. This means that the Orthographic method activates students' existing knowledge about the topic, provides opportunities for the topic and gives students the opportunity to engage with the topic

Abstract

English essay writing is a skill that university students should develop. However, many students find it difficult to acquire that skill. Technology provides many advantages in teaching and learning process, not to mention to help students develop their writing skill. Andy English is one of application like instant messangers, but the users can do conversation or chatting with robot. The aim of this research was to know the effect of Andy English Application in improving students’ writing skill. This research was conducted for 2nd semester students of Economic Education at University of Islamic Syekh Yusuf. This study was quantitative research with a pre-experimental design one group pre-test and post-test. There were 12 students as a sample. The data collected by the pre test, treatment and post test. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The result shows that Asymp.sig (2 tailed) is less than α (0.000 < 0.05), it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. By calculating the data it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of applying Andy English apps in improving students’ writing skill. Andy English apps also can improve students’ vocabulary and develop self-confident in their writing skill. So it is recommended for the teacher to overcome any problems in learning English especially in writing.

Abstract

Writing became difficult for the 8th grade students at SMP Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang in achieving minimum criteria (KKM). It seemed that the teacher should overcome the problems. Semantic mapping strategy provides a good way to make students more active in practicing their skill in writing descriptive text. The aim of this study is to know the effect of semantic mapping strategy in improving students’ writing skill on descriptive text. Quantitative method with pre-experimental design was applied in this study. The total participants were 30 students from 8th grade. Based on the Wilcoxon Signed Rank calculation, the result showed that the sig value of pre-test and post-test was 0.000 which is less than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). So, there is a significant effect of the use of semantic mapping strategy in improving students’ writing skill on descriptive text for the 8th grade students at SMP Syekh-Yusuf Tangerang. Abstract

Listening is one of the four basic skills that students must master before learning a foreign language. According to Elmetaher (2021) listening can be a challenge because listening is a complex process. In addition, students have difficulties in listening English. The teacher should be found an appropriate learning strategy to improve students’ listening skills. Therefore, the research aims to determine the significant improvement of utilizing English songs to improve students' listening skills. Songs can create more interesting learning atmosphere. The populations of the research were tenth grade in one of the senior high schools in Tangerang and the samples were 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The research used quasi-experimental design. The writers used pre-test and post-test in each class to get the data. The writers used multiple choice test with three indicators contained. The indicators were word perception, word recognition, and comprehension. The collected data were analyzed by using independent sample t-test. The result of this research is there is a significant improvement. In conclusion, utilizing English songs can improve students' listening skills.
