Abstract

The village of Ciwulan faces environmental challenges due to the abundance of rice husk waste. This study investigates the Taguchi method for converting rice husk waste into briquettes to improve production quality and efficiency. By evaluating the impact of rice husk charcoal, adhesive, and drying time, the study identifies the optimal combination to enhance combustion efficiency. The experimental results indicate that drying time significantly influences briquette quality, with the optimal combination being 100 grams of rice husk charcoal, 100 grams of adhesive, and 48 hours of drying. This combination resulted in the lowest average burning time of 9.5 minutes compared to other combinations. Using the Taguchi method effectively reduced burning time provided a practical solution for managing rice husk waste, and improved the quality of eco-friendly renewable energy products. This study offers a novel approach to agricultural waste processing with potential economic benefits for rural communities.

Abstract

Abstract

ML UBP is a laboratory that supports students' needs in the Manufacturing Process practicum course. The aim of this research is to determine the level of satisfaction and dimensions that are priorities for improvement in UBP ML services and to determine whether there is a relationship between student perceptions and student expectations for the services provided. The methods used are ServQual and correlation regression. The method for determining the number of samples in this study used the Slovin technique with a sample of 61 respondents. In this study the data was analyzed using the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 23 software. Based on the results of the analysis using the ServQual method to determine the results of service quality (Q) value for the Reliability dimension (0.856) , Responsiveness dimension (0.867), Assurance dimension (0.869), Empathy dimension (0.883) and Tangible dimension (0.891). The average value of all attributes is (0.873) which is still below 1, which means consumer satisfaction has not been met. then the dimension that is a priority for improvement is the Reliability dimension. And based on the Linear Regression Test, service quality does not affect student satisfaction with service.

Abstract

Machine operator experienced has a significant number of production defects and frequent failures to meet production targets. These issues are largely attributed to the high level of operator involvement in the production process, increasing the likelihood of human error. To address this, a Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) was conducted to identify factors contributing to human error and the associated risks of production defects. The analysis employed the Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) method to break down each task. Subsequently, Human Error Probability (HEP) and the Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique (HEART) were used to evaluate the likelihood of human error and overall human reliability. In the HEART method, the Assessed Proportion of Effect (APOE) value was determined through expert judgment. To mitigate the subjectivity in APOE determination, a modification using Fuzzy Linguistic Expression was applied

Abstract

Charcoal is generally a porous solid material made from carbon with a high degree of aromatization, the result of thermal decomposition of plant waste biomass in conditions without oxygen or with limited oxygen. This traditional method of making charcoal produces charcoal quality that is not optimal and requires constant supervision during the production process. Traditional furnaces or kitchens use soil as an insulator to retain heat during the carbonization process and prevent air from entering the furnace. Optimal combustion can be achieved if several factors in the operation of the furnace are taken into account, including temperature, duration of burning or carbonization, the process of reducing or closing the door, the process of closing the chimney, and the top window. This research aims to design a prototype temperature monitoring system for charcoal burning stoves based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller. This tool will help the operator to know the combustion temperature and completion time of the combustion process, so that the charcoal burning stove is more modern and efficient and can increase the productivity of charcoal making. This system is able to monitor temperatures in real-time and provide important information in handling production time problems. succeeded in increasing production time efficiency. Before using this monitoring tool, operators assumed the charcoal production process time was 12 days. However, after using this monitoring tool, it was discovered that the charcoal production process only took 10 to 11 days. In this way, there is a time saving of 1 to 2 days. Keywords: Charcoal, Burning Furnace, Production Time, Efficiency
