Abstract

Madrasah Aliyah Mambaul Ulum terletak di Kecamatan Pondok Kubang, Bengkulu Tengah. Sebagian besar (66%) siswa didik di sekolah ini adalah perempuan. Penghasilan dari orang tua didik hampir seluruhnya tergolong miskin. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan pembinaan berupa softskill yang dapat diaplikasikan ketika mereka lulus sekolah dan tidak mampu melanjutkan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan mulai bulan Agustus sampai September 2023. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berbasis pembinaan dilakukan dengan 4 tahap pelaksanaan sebagai berikut : 1) Persiapan, 2) Sosialisasi dan edukasi, 3) Praktik, dan 4) Evaluasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi, memotivasi, dan meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang manfaat dan keunggulan dari olahan sorgum. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat berupa produk olahan biji dan tepung sorgum. Olahan biji sorgum berupa: nasi dan bubur manis; sedangkan olahan tepung sorgum berupa: puding sorgum, kue kering, dan cupcake kukus. Pemahaman peserta mengenai nilai gizi dan manfaat tepung sorgum meningkat 80% setelah mengikuti kegiatan dibandingkan dengan sebelum mengikuti kegiatan. Ketrampilan peserta mengolah biji dan tepung sorgum meningkat 85% setelah mengikuti kegiatan dibandingkan dengan sebelum mengikuti kegiatan.

Abstract

Jiringa hulls contained phenolic compound, alcaloide, steroide, and flavonoide. Phenolic compound could inhibit the growth of emergence of rice. This study was aimed evaluate effect of dosage jiringa hulls application in supressing weed growth and promoting rice growth and yield. The treatment were weed free, weedy, hand weeding at 21 and 42 dap, jeringa hulls application of 5, 10, and 15 ton ha-1. Result showed that jeringa hulls aplication of 10 and 15 ton ha-1 can subtituted hand weeding at 21 and 42 dap and can suppresed broad leafed and narrow leafed weed at 6 and 9 wap compared to weedy, respectively. Highest suppressed as 90% if jiringa hulls was aplication at 15 ton ha-1.

Abstract

Jengkol pod exocarp can be used as anorganic fertilizer for rice cultivation. A research aimed to determine an appropriate formulation and application time of jengkol pod exocarp on paddy rice seedling growth. Thisstudy consisted of 2 factors. The first factor was formulation, namely liquid, powder or granules. The second factor was time of application, namely at planting, 1 or 2 weeks after planting. These treatments were arrangedin a Completely Randomized Design with 3 replications. The results showed that the application of jengkol pod exocarp in the form of granule improved root growth, N, P, K uptake, photosynthesis rate, but not dry weight. Thetime application of jengkol pod exocarp two weeks after planting increased N and P uptake, transpiration rate, photosynthesis rate and root dry weight.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the response of mustard to various concentrations of jiringa-pericarp water extract applied before or at planting . The study was conducted in November 2015-January 2016 located in a greenhouse using Completely Randomized Design, 2 factors and 4 replications. The first factor, concentration of jiringa-pericarp water extract consisted of 6 treatments: 165 g / L, 330 g / L, 495 g / L, 660 g / L, 825 g / L and 990 g / L and as comparison were 4 control plants. The second factor consisted of application one week before planting and at the time of planting. Each experimental unit consisted of two plants. The results showed that the application jiringa extract at palnting time with the concentration of 825 g / L resulted in the lowest leaf area and root fresh weight. The percentage of mus tard growth inhibition respectively were 51.54% and 56.69% when compared to the control. Jiringa water extract applied at planting time inhibited mustard growth more significant when compared to that 1 week before planting. The lowest average values   for variables of leaf number, fresh weight and crown dry weight were obtained at 825 g / L concentration with a percentage of obstacles of 35.57%; 47.16% and 40.70% when compared with controls.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a type of vegetable crop and one of the short-lived species needed by the body because it contains good nutrition. In order to meet the needs of pakcoy, it must also be balanced with the production level. One of the efforts to increase the production of pakcoy is the nutrient application of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from jiringa hulls. LOF can be absorbed by plants quickly rather than solid organic fertilizers and it does not damage soil structures such as synthetic chemical fertilizers. This study aimed to determine the optimum concentration of LOF on growth and production of pakcoy. The research took place at the Green House Laboratory of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. This research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one treatment factor and repeated 5 times, each treatment unit included 3 potted plants. Treatment of LOF concentration, consisted of 5 levels: T0: LOF 0% (Control), T1: LOF 25%, T2: LOF 50%, T3: LOF 75%, T4: LOF 100%. The concentration of L0F 100% produce the best growth and production of pakcoy and has longest canopy (22,18 cm), highest number of leaf (15,86 strands), widest leaf width (34,26 cm2), highest fresh canopy weight (68,85 gram), highest total dry weight (6.92 grams), highest greenish leaves (48.48), and highest dried root weight (1.72 grams). Keywords: LOF, Jiringa Hulls, Pakcoy, Concentration

Abstract

This study aimed to estimate genetic and phenotypic variability, as well as heritability values, in 41 Cayenne pepper cultivars based on vegetative traits.  The research was conducted from May to October 2024 at the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu, situated in Beringin Raya village, Bengkulu City, at an elevation of 10 m above sea level.  A Randomised Complete Block Design (RCBD) was employed with a single factor consisting of 41 cultivars with three replications, each comprising 20 plants per replication.  The results revealed a wide range of genetic variability for traits such as plant height, first dichotomous height, number of leaves, leaf area, leaf greenness, number of dichotomous points, canopy area, stem diameter, shoot fresh weight, and shoot dry weight.  High phenotypic variability was observed across all evaluated traits.  High heritability was found in the trait of first dichotomous height.  Moderate heritability was observed for plant height, number of leaves, leaf greenness, number of dichotomous points, canopy area, shoot fresh weight, and shoot dry weight. Low heritability was detected in leaf area, stomatal density, and stem diameter.

Abstract

Kegiatan budidaya tanaman yang dilakukan oleh petani di Kecamatan Muara Bangkahulu menghasilkan limbah pertanian yang tidak sedikit. Tanpa adanya pengelolaan maka limbah pertanian tersebut dapat mencemari lingkungan. Pengolahan limbah pertanian menjadi kompos organik merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk mengubah barang yang kurang bernilai menjadi barang bermanfaat dengan nilai jual yang tinggi. Sasaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah anggota kelompok wanita tani (KWT) Perintis 2 Pematang Gubernur Kota Bengkulu. Metode yang diterapkan yaitu : (1) Sosialisasi dan penyuluhan tentang limbah pertanian dan cara pengelolaannya, (2) praktek pembuatan pupuk organik dari limbah budidaya tanaman. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan lima kali di Rumah Ketua Kelompok Wanita Tani. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan antuasisme warga yang sangat tinggi dalam meningkatkan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang pengelolaan limbah pertanian khususnya limbah budidaya tanaman. Sebagian besar anggota kelompok tani kurang mengetahui bahwa limbah sisa pertanian dapat dijadikan pupuk organik yang bermanfaat bagi tanaman dan mempunyai nilai jual. Diharapkan edukasi pembuatan kompos dari limbah hasil panen kacang tanah dapat diterapkan untuk mengatasi limbah pertanian yang menumpuk di lahan pertanian.
