Abstract

Abstract

Parental support is an important asset in raising toddlers. However, there are very few studies on "caring"-based parental support. The research aims to analyze the relationship between "caring"-based parental support and parenting patterns for toddlers—cross-sectional research design. The population is parents who have children under five in Jelbuk District, Jember Regency, East Java, Indonesia. The sample numbered 331 which were chosen randomly. The input variable is "caring" support which consists of trustworthy, respectful, empathetic, caring, and communicative. The outcome variable is parenting patterns for toddlers. Data were collected using a questionnaire technique, with the instrument being a structured questionnaire form. Data analysis uses logistic regression. The results of the study show that there is a relationship between parental support based on "caring" and parenting patterns for toddlers. Parents who care enough have a 3.46 times higher potential to provide good parenting compared to parents who care less (AOR 3.46; CI 95% 1.160-10.314). Parents who care a lot have 11,368 times higher potential to provide good parenting compared to parents who care less (AOR 11.368; CI 95% 3.411-37.883). Highly communicative parents have a 39.580 times higher potential for providing good parenting compared to less communicative parents (AOR 39.580; CI 95% 4.680-34.717). Caring and communicativeness are caring elements in parental support most related to child parenting. This study recommends a collaborative parenting program to improve parents' ability to build healthy communication and meaningful care for children under five.

Abstract

Background: Stunting cases in Surakarta ranked fourth lowest in Central Java. However, the stunting target in Surakarta is zero. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the influence of maternal and child demographic factors on the incidence of stunting at the Gilingan Surakarta Community Health Center. Methods: This research method used analytical observations with a case-control research design. The research subjects were obtained using a simple random sampling method consisting of 38 stunted toddlers and 38 non-stunted toddlers aged 24-59 months at Gilingan Surakarta Community Health Center. Data collection was done by distributing questionnaires to respondents. The statistical test used for bivariate analysis is the chi-square, and multivariate analysis uses multiple logistic regression. Results: Bivariate analysis showed that maternal occupation (p=0.047) and family income (p=0.002) influenced the incidence of stunting. Multivariate analysis then found that maternal occupation and family income were associated with the incidence of stunting (p=0.005). Conclusion: The conclusion in this study was that mothers' occupation and family income significantly influence the incidence of stunting. Therefore, there is a need for assistance in the form of additional food for toddlers from underprivileged families to meet their nutritional needs so that stunting can be prevented.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a significant issue both globally and nationally. In Karanganyar, an area with a high stunting risk, the performance of the stunting reduction acceleration team is crucial. The information, motivation, and behavioral skill (IMB) model can help explain improvements in individual performance. This study aims to examine the relationships between information, motivation, and behavioral skills and the work performance of the stunting reduction acceleration team in Karanganyar. Methods: This quantitative research uses a cross-sectional design and includes 213 team members selected through simple random sampling in 2023. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods. Results: The findings indicate that behavioral skills (p = 0.027) show significant positive correlations with work performance. However, there is no significant correlation between information (p = 0.646) and work performance, as does motivation (p = 0.757). The overall interaction model is not significant (p = 0.677).Conclusion: In summary, behavioral skills alone show a positive relationship with performance, whereas information and motivation do not. Collectively, information, motivation, and behavioral skills do not significantly impact the performance of the stunting reduction acceleration team. To enhance team performance, it is essential to prioritize training that develops behavioral skills, alongside providing structured information and implementing motivational strategies, such as rewards and recognition, to sustain team engagement.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that a public health issue both globally and nationally, with high incidence rates including Indonesia. Factors such as drug resistance, population mobility, and decreased vaccination coverage can worsen the situation. One of the influencing factors is population density, transmission through airborne droplets due to the closer proximity of individuals and poor air circulation. In the Selogiri Community Health Center area, the number of TB cases shows a concerning trend, making it important to investigate the relationship between population density and the incidence of TB.Methods: This cross-sectional ecological correlation study was conducted in the Selogiri Community Health Center area covering a total population of 46,964 people. Secondary data were obtained from TB case reports and demographic data. The analysis used the Pearson correlation test after confirming the assumptions of linearity and normality. Results: The study shows a positive and significant association between population density and the number of TB cases in the Selogiri Community Health Center area in 2023, with a correlation value of r = 0.825 and p = 0.002. Villages with higher population density, such as Kaliancar and Jendi, recorded a higher number of TB cases compared to villages with lower density. The findings indicate that higher population density is strongly associated with an increased number of TB cases, highlighting the need for special attention in disease prevention and control strategies in densely populated areas. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between population density and TB cases in the Selogiri Community Health Center area in 2023; the higher the density, the higher the TB cases.
