Abstract

Produce 101 season 2 merupakan ragam hiburan dari Korea Selatan yang menampilkan gambaran maskulinitas yang berbeda. Definisi dominan maskulin adalah maskulin macho yang merupakan tampilan sosok laki-laki kekar serta memiliki sifat keras. Berbeda dengan macho, dalam ragam hiburan ini menyajikan tipe maskulinitas yang lebih lembut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari tahu bagaimana khalayak memaknai soft masculinity dalam variety show. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori resepsi audiens oleh Stuart Hall. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam dan sampel lima perempuan usia 20, 21, dan 22 tahun. Hasil penelitian terkait soft masculinity, informan berada pada posisi yang menegosiasi. Informan menganggap laki-laki mempunyai sisi maskulin lembut selain konstruksi tipe maskulin tough atau macho. Informan menegosiasikan soft masculinity sebagai salah satu definisi maskulin. Soft masculinity dinilai tetap sebagai maskulin yang lebih menunjukkan sisi lembut. Soft masculinity dinegosiasikan sebagai konstruksi maskulin dan bukan suatu yang feminin. Informan berada pada posisi dominant reading terkait soft masculinity sebagai tren dan selera. Informan menerima soft masculinity sebagai suatu keunikan dan menjadi suatu selera maskulin. Informan sadar bahwa maskulinitas yang dibangun untuk publik menjadi salah satu dari produk budaya. Maskulin yang mereka minati adalah produk produsen budaya yang membentuk tren dan selera mereka.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to review the text of news related to the new variant of Covid-19. This was because in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic news emerged related to new variants of the virus. The discussion focused on written news text related to the new variant of Covid-19 on the news portal okezone.com. This research used the concept of constructive journalism to analyze written news texts. The study used Roland Barthes semiotics to analyze the data. Abstract

Film is a mass communication medium that functions to entertain, films can also display important values which sometimes have great potential to influence audiences. The aim of this research is to find out the family values contained in the film Gara - Gara Pahlawan. This research uses Stuart Hall's representation theory which aims to discover and see how family values are contained in the film. The second theory used is Roland Barthes' semiotic theory, this theory is used to carry out an analysis that uses the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth to find symbols, meanings and messages of family values contained in the film. The method used to conduct research is a qualitative analysis method. The results of this research found that there is a meaning of family values that is in accordance with the meaning of family values based on reality in society and it is hoped that this research will be able to show that the function of family values can be a function of love, a socio-cultural function, an economic function, and a protection function.

Abstract

YouTube adalah media atau platform yang menyediakan tempat bagi audiens untuk membagikan berbagai informasi berupa video. Sampai saat ini sudah banyak akun YouTube yang bisa di- subcribe dan banyak konten yang bisa ditonton oleh khalayak umum, salah satunya adalah Isti ve Musab. Akun YouTube yang dikelola oleh pasangan suami-istri berlatar belakang beda budaya, Indonesia-Turki, membagikan kegiatatan kesehariannya melalui sebuah vlog. Hal-hal romantis tidak terlepas dari mereka sebagai pasangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penonton wanita memaknai romantisme pada vlog di akun YouTube ‘Isti ve Musab’. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan menggunakan teknis analisis resepsi. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive random sampling dengan kategori penonton wanita usia 18-24 tahun dan sudah menonton beberapa video di akun YouTube tersebut. Sumber data utama didapat melalui wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview) dengan para informan. Langkah-langkah analisis resepsi 1) Pengumpulan data, 2) Membuat transkrip dari data yang diperoleh, 3) Menyajikan data hasil atau rangkuman data wawancara, dan 4) Menarik kesimpulan. Triangulasi data digunakan untuk melakukan pengujian validitas data. Hasil penelitian, konten video yang diunggah di akun YouTube Isti ve Musab menunjukkan kedua pasangan tersebut merupakan pasangan yang romantis. Analisis terhadap romantisme pada akun youtube Isti Ve Musab diketahui adanya 1) Makna romantisme sebagai komitmen hubungan, dimana hanya informan 4 dan 6 yang mengatakan tidak setuju jika perbedaan kewarganegaraan akan menjadikan suatu romantisme sebagai komitmen hubungan. Menurutnya, faktor personality atau kepribadian individu masing-masing pasanganlah yang akan mempengaruhi hubungan romantis suatu pasangan, dan 2) Makna romantisme merupakan bentuk perwujudan komitmen pernikahan, dari unggahan video yang diunggah di akun YouTube Isti ve Musab banyak menunjukkan romantisme yang merupakan bentuk perwujudan komitmen pernikahan. Ke-enam informan setuju dengan hal itu dikarenakan melihat perlakuan romantis Musab kepada Isti.

Abstract

In this study, researchers will discuss the issue of scenes that represent how mental health issues are presented in the film Not Okay. The method in this research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The population of this research is all the characters from the film Not Okay. Danni Sanders, the main character in the film Not Okay, is the subject or sample of the research. Data is collected through cutscene analysis which represents mental health issues through conversations and scenes which will be divided into several categories. Apart from verbal communication, researchers will also analyze non-verbal cues such as facial expressions because they can also be used to convey implied messages. The result of this research is the film "Not Okay" (2022), which succeeded in providing an in-depth and realistic depiction of the complexity of mental health issues. The main characters can encourage viewers to consider the need to recognize and understand mental health issues, as well as how external circumstances and support networks play an important role in the recovery process. As a result, the film is not only entertaining but also makes a significant contribution to increasing awareness and understanding of people facing mental health problems.

Abstract

Purpose: This research purpose is to examine how the Bangka cultural meanings are represented in the film Martabak Bangka (2019) produced by Bersahaja Entertainment. This research uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory to describe signs, objects, and interpretants. Methodology: The method used in this research is a qualitative method using a purposive sampling technique in order to determine the data sample. The data collection technique is used by using documentation and observation techniques. Results: This research found multicultural meanings in the Bangka culture and local wisdom of the Bangka people which are represented through the Campak Dance, Bangka Belitung Malay Zapin songs, Dambus art, Lempah Kuning, Martabak Bangka, Nganggung Sepintu Sedulang custom, and Songkok Resam. Applications/Originality/Value: This study compares with the previous research in examining Bangka's culture more deeply. The locations of the differences in this research are in the object of research, the analysis of the theory used, the measuring instruments, and the literatures in the research.

Abstract

Film is one of the media that is widely favored by the public, with visual art displayed by the public as if they can feel the continuity of the film with the reality of real life, as well as the action of body shaming in this film. Body shaming is an act of negatively commenting on body shape that can cause mental disorders and depression to the victim. One of the movies that discusses the action of body shaming is the movie "Tall Girl". This movie raises the issue of body shaming, in this case body shaming that occurs based on two factors, namely body shaming based on gender bias and body shaming based on physicality. The researcher examined the movie "Tall Girl" by using a descriptive qualitative method with semiotic theory from Roland Barthes in analyzing data about the impact and classification of body shaming actions. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of how the issue of body shaming is interpreted, as well as to explain the impact and classification of body shaming actions. The results obtained are the issue of body shaming in this study are interpreted that this often happens but the perpetrators do not feel that they are doing body shaming themselves, they think that it is just a joke, the form of resistance to the action of body shaming in this film is to accept ourselves and not feel insecure about ourselves because everyone has advantages and disadvantages and no one is perfect.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence has become a significant factor in every aspect of life, including health, education, and being a life partner for people. Researchers wanted to know how humans and artificial intelligence interacted, particularly in intimate relationships. This discovery raises the topic of how to best depict the closeness between humans and artificially intelligent machines. This study uses the qualitative method and the interpretive critical paradigm to investigate the behaviors and attitudes of a cultural group. This research uses Vetere’s intimacy theory as a concept Hall’s representation analysis and Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis that explore denotation and connotation. Data validity is ensured through triangulation analysis, which merges data from various sources for comparison. Self-disclosure involves personal information sharing, trust is built through non-verbal interactions, and commitment is shown through long-term actions such as gift-giving, gratitude, extending an invitation for a holiday, sexual activities, reassurances, providing assistance, and attention to detail. In conclusion, AI can develop further, one of which is developing emotions to establish closer relationships with humans. This can be proven by several results that have been mentioned. Future studies should investigate how feelings of love or emotion may be programmed into robots or artificial intelligence to create romantic relationships with humans.

Abstract

The film Mencuri Raden Saleh, one of Angga Dwimas Sasongko's works, is one of the first films in Indonesia to introduce the concept of the heist genre. This film tells the story of a group of students who initially did not intend to steal a historical painting, namely the Arrest of Prince Di Ponogoro. The formulation of the problem in this study is: How is the Representation of Father and Son Relationship in the Film Mencuri Raden Saleh? With the aim to be achieved in this study to find out the representation of the relationship between father and son in the film. This research uses a qualitative analysis approach using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Data collection in this study came from 2 sources, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data mapping serves to obtain the source of the film Mencuri Raden Shaleh obtained from a streaming application (Netflix), then for secondary data this research uses supporting reading sources such as journals, news, books or readings whose case studies are still related to the film. The validity of the data used is the source triangulation technique. The results of this study obtained a pattern of loving relationships between the closeness of a father to a child and also a child to a father, which shows a sense of care, care, and affection, even though some of them are facing problems.

Abstract

This research is a study about the meaning of female masculinity in fashion. The object of analysis is the Javanese figure, Dewi Srikandi in the Red Batik Solo Costume Carnival. This Javanese figure, Dewi Srikandi is interesting to study because she has strong myths about masculinity. Beside that, the researcher also interested in how this female warrior figure looks masculine which is observed from the costumes and accessories worn. The purpose of this study is to find out how does Dewi Srikandi gives the meaning by the costume into the visual of the Red Batik Solo carnival. The analysis uses semiotics Roland Barthes with a qualitative approach and the theory of Female Masculinity Halberstam. The analysis shows that Srikandi is a female character or role that has masculine characteristics that can be observed from analysis of the color, meaning  of denotation and connotation and also meaning of myth, such as red, black, white, brown and dark colors. Masculine also can be shown from Srikandi costumes which are related with syntagmatic and paradigmatic, such as red can be replaced with dark colors (black or brown). In addition, costume accessories such as ricikan (crown, sumping, necklace, bracelet, belt or belt, arrow, and shoes) also give masculine meaning which are indicated by the characteristics of masculine generally, for example strength, courage, aggressiveness, leadership, assertiveness, domination, and violence. Penelitian ini menganalisis mengenai makna Female Masculinity. Objek penelitian ini pada kostum wayang Srikandi yang dibuat oleh Red Batik Solo. Tokoh wayang Jawa Dewi Srikandi ini menarik untuk diteliti karena mempunyai mitos yang kuat tentang karakter wanita yang memiliki sisi maskulin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana makna yang disampaikan Dewi Srikandi kedalam bentuk visual fashion kostum karnaval Red Batik Solo. Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis semiotika oleh Roland Barthes dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan teori Female Masculinity Halberstam. Selain itu, peneliti juga tertarik tentang bagaimana tokoh prajurit wanita ini terlihat maskulin yang diamati dari kostum dan aksesoris yang dikenakan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Srikandi adalah tokoh puteri yang memiliki sifat maskulin yang dapat diamati dari analisis warna, makna denotasi dan konotasi serta makna mitos, seperti warna merah, hitam, putih, coklat dan warna gelap. Sifat maskulin juga dapat ditunjukkan dari kostum Srikandi yang dihubungkan dengan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik, seperti warna merah dapat diganti dengan warna gelap (hitam atau coklat). Selain itu, aksesoris kostum seperti ricikan (mahkota, sumping, kalung, gelang, ikat pinggang atau sabuk, panah, dan sepatu) juga memberi makna maskulin yang ditunjukkan dari karakteristik yang umumnya dianggap maskulin, misalnya menunjukkan kekuatan, keberanian, agresivitas, kepemimpinan, ketegasan, dominasi, dan kekerasan.
