Abstract

The productivity of cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) in Indonesia has decreased every year. Organic and sustainable fertilization starting from the nursery can be done as an effort to improve the productivity of cocoa. Organic fertilizers consist of 2, namely solid and liquid organic fertilizers. The use of POC can accelerate the absorption of nutrients by plant roots. POC banana peel kepok contains a number of nutrients needed by plants such as C, N, P, K, Fe, Cu, and Zn. This study aims to determine the effect and dose of differences in the volume of watering POC of good kepok banana peels on the growth of cocoa seedlings. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatment levels and 4 replications. Each treatment consisted of 3 plant samples so that 72 samples of seeds were obtained. Parameters observed included plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), stem diameter (mm), root length (cm), plant dry weight (g). Cocoa seedling growth data were analyzed using Analysis of Variances (ANOVA). Abstract

Rubber plant (Hevea brasiliensis Muell Arg.) is one of the important plantation commodities for Indonesia because it is one of Indonesia's export commodities for foreign exchange. The problem in rubber nurseries today is the limitation of fertile soil as a planting medium in polybags. Efforts to overcome this problem are to utilize mineral soils that lack nutrients such as alluvial subsoil by giving roasted rice husks. Roasted rice husks contain 35.98% organic C and macronutrients such as N (0.73%), P (0.14%) and K (0.3%). This research was carried out from October 2021 to January 2022 at the Ketapang State Polytechnic Experimental Garden. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications, so there were 24 experimental units. Each replication consisted of 3 plant samples so that 72 samples were obtained. Observation parameters included plant height (cm), stem circumference (cm), number of umbrellas (strands), plant wet weight (g), and plant dry weight (g). The data obtained were analyzed by means of variance with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The best dose of roasted rice husk on the growth of rubber rootstock seedlings of clone PB 260 was 90 g/plant.

Abstract

The use of peat media for coffee cultivation needs to be considered because peat soil has problems such as low soil pH and low nutrient content. Using rice straw compost is an alternative for increasing nutrient levels in peat soil. Rice straw compost contains 0.5-0.8% nitrogen, 0.07-0.12% phosphorus, 1.2-1.7% potassium and 7% silicon. This research aims to determine the best dose of rice straw compost so that it can increase the growth of Liberica coffee seedlings in peat media. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were K₀: without rice straw compost, K₁: 150 g/plant K₂: 175 g/plant, K₃: 200 g/plant, K₄: 225 g/plant. The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, root length and plant dry weight. The research data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Data that had a real effect were further tested using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The application of rice straw compost in peat media had a significant effect on the growth of seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, root length and dry weight of Liberica coffee seedlings. Rice straw compost at a dose of 225 g/plant applied in peat media is the best dose because it increases the vegetative growth of Liberica coffee seedlings.

Abstract

Most of the people in Delta Pawan District are farmers and breeders. The number of agricultural business households in Delta Pawan District is 354 cultivating food crops, 640 cultivating horticultural crops and 786 breeders. This shows that the availability of raw materials for making organic fertilizers is very abundant. The problem that has occurred until now is that the waste from agricultural and livestock products has not been utilized optimally by the community due to limited tools and knowledge in processing it into organic fertilizer. The purpose of this activity is to provide motivation and knowledge to the residents of Kalinilam village to utilize agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer which is abundantly available. The method used to overcome these problems is to provide training to Kalinilam villagers on how to process agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer using a compost chopper. This service activity will be carried out in July 2024 with 2 stages, namely socialization and counseling as well as training and assistance in making compost. The result of the service of this training program is an increase in the knowledge of villagers about processing agricultural and livestock waste into organic fertilizer so that it can increase the utilization of waste into more useful products
