Abstract

Provision of seeds with the single bud chips method has the benefit of being more efficient in reducing the area of the nursery. In order to support the growth of single bud chips sugarcane seedlings in nurseries, bamboo root PGPR was given which made it easier for P to dissolve in the soil so that it was easily absorbed by plant roots. P element in the soil is needed by plants to meet plant nutrition so that if the P element needs are met, the plant will grow well. This study aims to determine the volume, frequency of application and interaction of bamboo root PGPR on the growth of single bud chips sugarcane seedlings. The study used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 15 treatments and 3 replications. The first factor is the volume of PGPR bamboo roots (K) which consists of five levels as follows: K0 = control/without PGPR, K1 = PGPR volume 5 mL/tan, K2 = PGPR volume 10 mL/tan, K3 = PGPR volume 15 mL /tan, K4 = Volume of PGPR 20 mL/tan. The second factor is the frequency of application (F) which consists of three levels as follows: F0 = 1 watering, F1 = 2 watering, F2 = 3 watering. The volume of PGPR bamboo roots as much as 15 mL/plant with a frequency of PGPR application of 2 times watering is the optimal provision for the growth of single bud chips sugarcane seedlings.

Abstract

Rubber plant (Hevea brasiliensis Muell Arg.) is one of the important plantation commodities for Indonesia because it is one of Indonesia's export commodities for foreign exchange. The problem in rubber nurseries today is the limitation of fertile soil as a planting medium in polybags. Efforts to overcome this problem are to utilize mineral soils that lack nutrients such as alluvial subsoil by giving roasted rice husks. Roasted rice husks contain 35.98% organic C and macronutrients such as N (0.73%), P (0.14%) and K (0.3%). This research was carried out from October 2021 to January 2022 at the Ketapang State Polytechnic Experimental Garden. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications, so there were 24 experimental units. Each replication consisted of 3 plant samples so that 72 samples were obtained. Observation parameters included plant height (cm), stem circumference (cm), number of umbrellas (strands), plant wet weight (g), and plant dry weight (g). The data obtained were analyzed by means of variance with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The best dose of roasted rice husk on the growth of rubber rootstock seedlings of clone PB 260 was 90 g/plant.

Abstract

The use of peat media for coffee cultivation needs to be considered because peat soil has problems such as low soil pH and low nutrient content. Using rice straw compost is an alternative for increasing nutrient levels in peat soil. Rice straw compost contains 0.5-0.8% nitrogen, 0.07-0.12% phosphorus, 1.2-1.7% potassium and 7% silicon. This research aims to determine the best dose of rice straw compost so that it can increase the growth of Liberica coffee seedlings in peat media. The research used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were K₀: without rice straw compost, K₁: 150 g/plant K₂: 175 g/plant, K₃: 200 g/plant, K₄: 225 g/plant. The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, root length and plant dry weight. The research data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Data that had a real effect were further tested using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The application of rice straw compost in peat media had a significant effect on the growth of seedling height, stem diameter, number of leaves, root length and dry weight of Liberica coffee seedlings. Rice straw compost at a dose of 225 g/plant applied in peat media is the best dose because it increases the vegetative growth of Liberica coffee seedlings.
