Abstract

Boboso is part of an oral tradition that is still frequently used and trusted for its truth among rural and urban communities in North Maluku province. Boboso, which usually begins with the words "don't" or "shouldn't" is a meaningful sentence and is strictly avoided in its implementation by speakers and listeners in North Maluku. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with critical pragmatic analysis methods and library research studies, namely by reviewing scientific literature. Library research in this study aims to provide scientific comparison material to interpret the implied meanings of the prohibition and boboso sentences. This research also involved in-depth interviews with community informants spread across North Maluku Province and analyzed from a critical pragmatic perspective. The results of this research explain that every prohibition sentence contains an element of advice in perspective; health, adjustment to economic conditions for survival, as well as historical elements. Prohibition and boboso sentences are not just oral traditions passed down from generation to generation, but can be studied from an academic and empirical perspective so that their implementation can be understood in terms of their implied meanings. Furthermore, the advice content in these sentences called boboso can be recommended as teaching material in formal schools and universities as part of character education based on local content.

The subjects of this research were teachers and students of class 8 at SMP Negeri 11 Tidore Islands City. The research object is the implementation of project based learning and material for writing observation reports. The research results show that the implementation of the project based learning model in learning can be achieved through activities; (1) Determining Fundamental Questions (Star With The Essential Question), (2) Designing a product plan, (3) Preparing a Project Implementation Schedule (Create a Schedule), (4) Monitoring project activity and development, (5) Testing project results, and (6) Evaluation of learning experiences. At the end of the activity, students produce a project in the form of a text report on the results of observations through the objects observed, so this research as a whole can be concluded that the application of project based learning in learning with the material of writing reports on observations can be said to be successful.

Abstract

Learning to write news texts often leaves problems in the form of quality. Writing still seems like a mechanistic activity, not an activity that involves high critical and reflective thinking. This study aims to reveal students' metacognitive strategies in writing news texts. The problems studied are metacognitive strategies and the ability to apply metacognitive strategies. The study was conducted on students of class VIII of SMP IT Insan Kamil Halmahera Selatan qualitatively descriptively and exploratively with data collection techniques, namely questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that the metacognitive strategies, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluation obtained an average score of 4.15, classified as "High" based on student responses. This finding indicates that in general students have used metacognitive strategies in writing news texts quite well. Meanwhile, the ability of metacognitive strategies in writing news texts in the aspect of structure has an average score of 3.2 (good), news elements 2.8 (sufficient), language 3.0 (good), and the aspect of creativity has an average score of 2.8 (sufficient). In conclusion, students' metacognitive strategies in writing news texts are in the good category. It is suspected that the suboptimal metacognitive strategy is closely related to critical and reflective thinking as part of the metacognitive strategy.

Abstract

Waste management literacy remains a challenge in schools. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the APiK method (Take, Sort, Reduce) in enhancing waste management literacy among elementary and junior high school students. A quantitative pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest) was used, with data collected through multiple-choice tests. The results showed an increase in the average score from 70.20 to 76.53. A paired t-test indicated a significant difference (p < 0.05), with junior high students showing greater improvement. These findings suggest that the APiK method is effective in improving students' understanding of waste management through contextual and practical learning.
