Abstract

This comprehensive case study investigates the multifaceted challenges faced by English for Specific Purposes (ESP) lecturers in the context of pedagogical instruction at STAIN Madina, Indonesia. ESP instruction is crucial for equipping students with specialized language skills tailored to their future careers. However, this research reveals various challenges ESP lecturers encounter, including curriculum design complexities, pedagogical strategy adaptations, resource limitations, diverse student backgrounds, and assessment intricacies. These challenges impact the quality of ESP instruction, with implications for student preparedness in religious studies and beyond. The significance of this study lies in its potential to enhance the overall quality of ESP education at STAIN Madina and similar institutions in Indonesia and globally. Practical recommendations are provided for addressing these challenges, such as curriculum updates, innovative teaching strategies, improved resources, tailored support for diverse student backgrounds, and alternative assessment methods. By understanding and mitigating these challenges, institutions can better prepare students for specialized careers, fostering effective communication in various professional domains

Abstract

This research delves into the dynamic and evolving landscape of early learning in Indonesia, focusing on the transformative impact of integrating interactive technology into the educational milieu. The primary exploration centers on English language education for young learners, delving into the multifaceted challenges, opportunities, and implications entwined with integrating interactive technology in this specific educational context. Within this study, the research meticulously navigates the intricate complexities associated with implementing technology, scrutinizing its effectiveness in captivating the attention of young and impressionable minds. Furthermore, it seeks to discern the far-reaching consequences of this integration on language acquisition, acknowledging technology's pivotal role in shaping linguistic development during the formative years. Through a nuanced and meticulous examination of current practices and the illumination offered by insightful case studies, this paper aspires to serve as a guiding beacon. It aims to provide valuable insights that not only shed light on the challenges and opportunities inherent in merging interactive technology with early English language education but also pave the way for a more enhanced and practical instructional approach for young learners in Indonesia. Abstract

This research employs a qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach to analyze the intercultural communication strategies of Minangkabau migrants in Panyabungan, North Sumatra. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to gain insights into migrants’ adaptation processes, identity formation, and integration into the local community. The study examines migration through three stages: emigration (push and pull factors), physical migration (adaptation challenges and cultural resilience), and immigration (integration and identity negotiation). Findings reveal that Minangkabau migrants utilize various strategies, including social engagement, cultural adaptation, and the use of social networks, allowing them to maintain their cultural identity while fostering harmonious relationships in their new environment. This research highlights the significance of intercultural communication in ensuring successful migration and social integration.
