Abstract

Bawang dayak or dayak onion (Eleutherine americana Merr) is an endemic plant from West Kalimantan. The bulb extract from dayak onion is known to be consumed as traditional medicine by dayak ethnic group. Dayak onion contained alkaloid, flavonoid, glycoside, saponin, and tannin that are very beneficial for health. This research aims to examine the effect of ethanol extract of dayak onion towards the cholesterol level and the triglyceride level in animal testing male mice (Mus musculus). This research uses completely randomized design with experimental laboratory methods by doing 5 treatments and 5 times replications. Mice are given mixed food consists of CP 511 concentrate and cow fat using 7:3 comparison for 10 days. Mice are also given treatment with the ethanol extract of dayak onion for 7 days with classifications of: negative control treatment, positive treatment, 50 mg/Kg BB, 100 mg/Kg BB, and 200 mg/Kg BB. The research result shows that the treatment of ethanol extract dayak onion has significant effect towards the decrease of triglyceride level in mice’s blood, but based on LSD test, the differentiation between each treatment is not significant. Based on the research result, ethanol extract of dayak onion according to the average result can indeed decrease the level of cholesterol, but the statistics test has not yet shown significant results

Abstract

Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the horticultural crops that has the potential to be developed because of its high demand and role for consumption on a national scale and for export. Increasing the success of cultivation can be done by adding arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (CMA). One of the CMA is Gigaspora sp. can be developed as a biological fertilizer agent because this fungus is a symbiotic mutualism. This study aims to determine the effect of the dose of CMA Gigaspora sp. against cayenne pepper plant nurseries. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments included G0 (Gigaspora spores only), G1 (Gigaspora spores + 15 grams of propagule), G2 (Gigaspora spores + 30 grams of propagule), G3 (Gigaspora spores + 45 grams of propagule) and control (K). The observed variables were growth including plant height, number of leaves, total dry weight, and percentage of colonization of Gigaspora sp. on the root. The results showed that there was an interaction between CMA Gigaspora sp. in single form or with a mixture of propagules can increase the growth of cayenne pepper plants. The administration of a mixture of propagules was more effective than the administration of Gigaspora sp. as a single spore after 75 days. Optimal treatment for 4 parameters, namely G3 (Gigaspora spores + 45 grams of propagule) which showed a plant height of 89.24 cm, number of leaves 60.14 strands, total dry weight 10.27 grams, and the percentage of colonization of Gigasporasp on roots of 84, 62%.

Abstract

Daun kersen (Muntingia calabura L) dan daun paku nephrolepis merupakan tanaman liar yang tidak mengenal musim. Fusarium Sp merupakan patogen penyebab layu pada tanaman. Komponen senyawa kimia flavonoid, tannin, saponin dan alkaloid yang terdapat pada daun kersen dan paku nephrolepis diduga sebagai antifungi. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk membuktikan apakah kombinasi ekstrak daun kersen dan ekstrakdaun paku Nephrolepis dapat menghambat pertumbuhan diameter koloni fungi Fusarium Sp. Konsentrasi ekstrak daun kersen yang di gunakan adalah 0 mg/ml, 1250 mg/10ml, 1500 mg/10ml, 1750 mg/10ml sedangkan konsentrasi ekstrak daun paku nephrolepis adalah 0 mg/10ml , 0.625 mg/10ml, 0.650 mg/10ml, 0.675 mg/10ml dan Ciprofloxacyn sebagai kontrol positifnya. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian dilakukan dengan mengukur diameter koloni Fusarium Sp dianalisis menggunakan analisis varian (ANOVA) dengan derajat kepercayaan 95% (P?0,05). Analisis ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap uji ANOVA satu arah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pemberian kombinasi ekstrak daun kersen dan ekstrak daun paku nephrolepis berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter koloni fungi Fusarium Sp. (P?0.05).

Abstract

Kultur jaringan merupakan salah satu teknik budidaya tanaman secara vegetatif yang dapat digunakan untuk perbanyakan tanaman dengan waktu yang relatif singkat dengan menggunakan media tanam yang mengandung unsur hara mikro, makro dan zat pengatur tumbuh. Pengenalan dan pelatihan teknik kultur jaringan yang ditujuhkan kepada guru MGMP Biologi se-Jawa Timur dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tambahan pengetahuan dalam memperkenalkan kultur jaringan saat mengajar di kelas. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini menggunakan virtual web conference. Berdasarkan hasil kuesioner didapatkan peserta mengalami kenaikan hasil sebesar 59,26% tentang pengenalan dan pelatihan teknik kultur jaringan (teknis kultur jaringan, tahap persiapan, tahap inisiasi, tahap multiplikasi, tahap aklimatisasi).

Abstract

In order to realize food self-sufficiency, it is necessary to develop food alternatives other than rice, black potato plants are suitable as an alternative to be developed. Black potatoes have a high carbohydrate content, besides that they contain calcium, iron, and phosphorus. This study aims to determine the fermentation treatment of cow, goat, and chicken manure on black potato yields. This study used a factorial RAK (Randomized Block Design) with 3 factors and 3 replications. Factors for giving cow manure (S), goat manure (K), and chicken manure (A), each with 3 levels, namely 5 kg/plot, 10 kg/plot, and 15 kg/plot (S1, S2 , S3, K1, K2, K3, A1, A2, A3), negative control and NPK. The variable observed was yield, including: number of tubers, tuber weight, and black potato tuber diameter. The results showed that there was an effect of fermenting manure on black potato yields for 90 HST. Application of chicken manure with a concentration of 15 kg/plot gave better results in fermenting cow and goat manure. The number of tubers was 62 tubers, the tuber weight was 260 grams, and the tuber diameter was 2.12 mm.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the ability of liquid organic fertilizer with the basic ingredients of waste melon and eggshells on the growth and production of mustard plants, and determine the effective concentration of the growth and production of mustard plants. Liquid organic fertilizer is made with the composition of 3kg melon skin waste, 1kg eggshell, 7liter water, 1kg sugar and 1liter EM4. Four treatments were given with the concentration of 0% treatment as control, 10%, 15%, 20% for 30 days after mustard plants were treated. This study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 4 treatments with 6 replications. ANOVA test results showed that the four concentrations did not significantly influence height, number of leaves, and significant effect on productivity (wet weight) of mustard greens. LSD / BNT test showed that there was only a significant difference in treatment 3 for treatment 1, 2, and treatment 4 for wet weight. And no significant effect (p> 0.05) with the application of liquid organic fertilizer from melon and eggshell skin waste on the number of leaves and plant height. The conclusion of this research is that the application of liquid organic fertilizer from melon and eggshell skin waste with a concentration of 15% is an effective concentration and significantly influences the fresh weight of mustard plants.

Abstract

Moon orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis) is one of the most fascinating orchid genus. The variety of colors, shapes and textures, as well as the aroma make moon orchids one of the most beautiful flowers. Ferns contain elements of Nitrogen (N), Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H), and silica. Coconut shells contain carbohydrates (K), phosphorus (P), sodium (Na) and magnesium (Mn). Shallots (Allium cepa) contain the elements Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mg), Magnesium (Mn), and Zinc (Zn). Meanwhile, non-nutritive chemical compounds include auxin and gibberellin hormones. This study used the complete randomized design (CRD) method, which consisted of 18 treatments and 3 replications. The growth parameters observed were number of leaves, leaf area, root length, plant weight, and survival rate. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that the provision of planting media and shallot skin POC treatment affects the growth of moon orchids. The results of Duncan's test showed the M3P4 treatment combination (chopped fern + coconut shell) and shallot skin POC (30%) produced the best growth in the parameter of root length of 5.16 cm and plant weight of 2.82 grams. However, it has no effect on the number of leaves and leaf area. Keywords: Moon orchid; Growing media; POC; Chopped fern, coconut shell; Shallot skins.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan sebagai analisis kebutuhan yang diperlukan untuk membekali para siswa dalam hal peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan di bidang biologi, khususnya menguasai bagaimana cara aklimatisasi yang baik untuk tanaman anggrek. Tanaman anggrek dipilih dalam pelatihan ini karena merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman hias yang mempunyai nilai estetika yang tinggi dan banyak diminati oleh berbagai kalangan masyarakat. Pelatihan aklimatisasi tanaman anggrek akan dilaksanakan secara luring dengan sasaran peserta yaitu dari Siswa-siswi SMA Surabaya dan Sidoarjo. Lokasi pelaksanaan pelatihan dilakukan di Laboratorium Biologi Dasar dan Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan Prodi Biologi Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya pada bulan Desember 2023. Abstract

Pengetahuan masyarakat khususnya tentang diversifikasi atau aneka ragam pangan bersumber ikan dan hasil perikanan lainnya masih sangat terbatas. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan Ibu-Ibu PKK RT 03/04 Ketintang melalui pelatihan dalam pembuatan stik berbahan dasar lele dan menciptakan peluang usaha secara nyata di masa mendatang, mampu meningkatkan nilai jual produk hasil olahan, dan dapat dipasarkan lebih luas karena memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi. Selain itu, tujuan dari pengolahan ikan lele menjadi stik ini adalah untuk meningkatkan minat mengkonsumsi ikan lele dan kandungan gizi yang terdapat pada ikan lele dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Metode dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah tahap perencanaan yang dimulai dengan melakukan diskusi dengan ketua PKK, tahap penyuluhan dan pelatihan dimana dalam tahap ini dilakukan metode presentasi dan penjelasan materi oleh narasumber tentang pentingnya diversifikasi olahan ikan. Narasumber juga mempraktekkan pembuatan produk stik ikan lele dan peserta berperan aktif dalam pelaksanaannya. Tahap yang terakhir yaitu penilaian ketercapaian tolok ukur yang dilakukan melalui metode pre-test dan post-test. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat secara umum berlangsung dengan baik dan berdasarkan hasil evaluasi, adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat sebanyak 57,3% tentang diversifikasi produk perikanan berbahan dasar ikan lele

Abstract

Introduction. Food independence in Indonesia continues to be developed with other food crops to substitute the rice, one of it is by black potato. The productivity of lowland potato plants can be supported by the provision of nutrients. This research aims to determine the provision of fermented cow, goat and chicken manure on the growth, yield and anatomy of Black Potato Tubers (Plectranthus rotundifolius). Method. The method used was experimental with 12 treatments and repeated 3 times for each treatment, including control, 0 kg/plot, 5 kg/plot, 10 kg/plot, 15 kg/plot, and NPK. The parameters observed in this research were growth (plant height, number of leaves, number of branches) and anatomy (diameter of stems and stomatal density). Results and Analysis. The data were analyzed using Anova test with a significance of α = 0.05, and the difference test is conducted using Duncan when there is a difference in the test result. Discussion. The results showed that chicken manure had a better effect on the growth and anatomy of black potato plants compared to goat manure and cow manure.
