Abstract

The reclamation of Serangan Island in 1995-1998, resulted the physical change of the land that is to change the area of Serangan Island from 111 hectares to 481 hectares or to fourfold from the previous area, and to unite the area of the Serangan Island which on pre-reclamation in the form of island clusters. The first reclamation in Bali is of course due to a reasons, including the incompatibility of the initial planning objectives and the reality of post-reclamation, where most of the land becomes empty land, whereas the original idea was to build megawisata facilities such as golf, resorts, lagoon, yatch club , beach club house, superlot development in the form of villas, other tourism support facilities, and marina / ferry. The reclamation has resulted in changes in the physical condition of the land on a macro (global) and micro (detailed) basis. Based on this phenomenon, will be sought to know the things behind the changing physical condition of land pascareklamasi. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with observation technique, survey and document. Sampling is done by purposive sampling. The results of this study are the factors behind the physical change of land post-reclamation such as : physical conditon of land factors, economic, institutional and other factors such as social factors, culture, and belief or faith. Keywords: Influencing factors in physical changes of land, pre-reclamation, post-reclamation.

Abstract

People will always try to condition his environment to achieve thermal comfort for his body. To conditioning the external environment is strongly influenced by climatic conditions. In other words, the comfort that humans feel in the outer space is depend on the thermal conditions of the environment. The object of outer space in this research is the built environment with the shape of Taman Kota I Gusti Ngurah Agung in Denpasar City. City Park as the object of research so far only judged from its function as a convenient recreational facility for the city community, both from the visual comfort and the thermal comfort. To answer the needs of thermal comfort in the city park, the focus of this research is the conditioning of the outer space elements with the concept of Balinese Traditional Architecture to improve the thermal comfort of the esksisting conditions. The purpose of this research is to produce thermal comfort optimization of city park through recommendation of arrangement model with the concept of Water Garden of Traditional Architecture of Bali. It takes thermal condition visualization using Envi-MET 3.1 software to see thermal enhancement improvement in the research object recommendation model. The result of this research is mapping of the increase of thermal comfort quantity distribution at the condition of urban park recommendation model. From the mapping of the thermal conditions, it is known that the thermal comfort level of the urban park recommendation model is higher. This result can then be followed up as a recommendation model of Taman Kota I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung with the concept of Water Garden of Traditional Architecture of Bali and the future can be applied in other cities with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Bamboo has been recognized as a sustainable building material with high tensile strength, rapid growth, and a low carbon footprint. In Bali, traditional architecture reflects cultural values and local wisdom that prioritizes spatial harmony, natural ventilation, and symbolic ornaments. This research explores how passive design strategies can optimize energy efficiency in bamboo-based architecture while maintaining traditional Balinese elements' aesthetic integrity. By integrating the principles of Tri Hita Karana and Asta Kosala Kosali, this study uses Building Information Modeling (BIM) simulation methods, community perception surveys, and energy efficiency analysis to evaluate the sustainability and resilience of a bamboo-based architectural culture. The study results show that applying Balinese spatial configuration in bamboo construction improves natural ventilation, reduces energy consumption, and maintains cultural identity. The study provides a framework for integrating traditional Balinese architectural principles with sustainable modern design, thus maintaining cultural continuity in the face of contemporary architectural demands.
