Abstract

ABSTRACTRice is a staple food that is spread in almost 16 densely populated countries or more than half of the world's population. Food safety is one of the issues that need attention, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. The lack of food quality and safety knowledge in food producers and distributors make them using unsuitable chemicals in food ingredients. In rice production, sometimes chlorine is used in the milling process for bleaching and surface glossing, even though it has the potential to damage the intestine, stomach, and other digestive organs as well as trigger liver and kidney cancer. The purpose of this study was to identify chlorine levels in rice circulating in Batam City. Twenty rice samples were taken from Batam City Market, namely Jodoh Market. These samples were taken by purposive sampling. Chlorine was tested by the color reaction method. Qualitative test results show 20 negative chlorine samples that did not change the color to blue. Based on the obtained results, the samples were not continued to the quantitative test. Therefore, it can be concluded that the rice circulating in Batam City is safe for consumption.Keywords: Chlorine, Rice, Color Reaction, Traditional MarketsABSTRAKBeras merupakan makanan pokok yang tersebar hampir di 16 negara padat penduduk atau lebih dari separuh penduduk dunia. Keamanan makanan merupakan salah satu masalah yang harus mendapatkan perhatian terutama di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia. Masih rendahnya pengetahuan, keterampilan serta tanggung jawab daripada produsen dan distributor pangan terhadap mutu serta keamanan makanan menyebabkan penyalah gunaan zat kimia untuk makanan. Penggunaan klorin dalam produksi beras melalui penggilingan memungkinkan dilakukan untuk tujuan pemutihan dan pengilapan permukaan. Penggunaan klorin pada bahan pangan seperti beras tidak boleh digunakan karena berpotensi mengganggu dan merusak usus, lambung dan organ pencernaan lainnya termasuk berpotensi memicu kanker hati dan ginjal. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengidentifikasi kadar klorin dalam beras yang beredar di Kota Batam. Sampel beras berjumlah dua puluh sampel yang diambil dari Pasar Kota Batam yaitu Pasar Jodoh, pengambilan sampel ini dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Klorin diuji dengan metode reaksi warna. Hasil uji kualitatif menunjukkan 20 sampel negatif klorin, karena sampel tidak menunjukkan perubahan warna yaitu biru, berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh maka sampel tidak dilanjutkan ke uji kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa beras yang beredar di Kota Batam aman di konsumsi.Kata kunci: Klorin, Beras, Reaksi Warna, Pasar Tradisional

Abstract

Kesalahan medikasi merupakan salah satu penyebab utama insiden keselamatan pasien di fasilitas kesehatan dan dapat berdampak serius, seperti komplikasi kesehatan hingga kematian. Penyuluhan mengenai medication safety dilakukan di RS Harapan Bunda, Kota Batam, untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tenaga medis terhadap penggunaan obat yang aman dan efektif. Kegiatan ini mencakup pemaparan materi, diskusi kelompok, demonstrasi praktik, serta kuis interaktif untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan tenaga medis mengenai penyebab, risiko, dan strategi pencegahan medication errors, seperti penerapan prosedur double-checking dan pemanfaatan teknologi dalam peresepan obat. Edukasi berbasis bukti yang interaktif terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran serta penerapan prinsip medication safety dalam praktik klinis.

Abstract

Jamu is a traditional form of medicine that should be free from the contamination of medicinal chemicals and only use organic materials from plants or animals. This study aims to detect the presence of Ketoprofen in Jamu for menstrual pain relief using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). In this study, TLC was used to identify the presence of medicinal chemicals through spots on the TLC plate. The mobile phase used was a mixture of chloroform and methanol (9:1), with the stationary phase being a silica gel GF 254 nm plate. Detection was performed at UV wavelengths of 254 nm and 365 nm. Six samples were tested, and the results showed that no Ketoprofen was detected in any of the samples, thus the study was not continued with UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The Rf value of the standard comparator was 0.53, while the Rf value of the samples was close to this standard, at 0.73. Based on these results, it can be concluded that all tested Jamu samples for menstrual pain relief do not contain Ketoprofen
