Abstract

An antibacterial test of meniran herb extract (Phyllanthus niruri L.) against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Klebsiella pneumoniae has been carried out. Meniran herb powder was screened for phytochemicals to assess the secondary metabolites contained in it, then meniran herbs were extracted using the soxhletation method in stages with various solvents (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 70% ethanol). The disc diffusion method was used to test the inhibition zone diameter of n-hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract, and ethanol extract against Staphylococcus epidermidis and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Meniran herb extract was diluted with a concentration series using dimethylsulfoxide. Meniran herb extracts from the three types showed the best inhibition zone diameter when tested for minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) by the solid dilution method. The results showed that meniran herb powder contained flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, and steroids/terpenoids. Antibacterial tests showed that ethyl acetate and 70% ethanol extracts had antibacterial activity only against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The antibacterial activity of the two meniran herb extracts had the largest inhibition zone diameter against Staphylococcus epidermidis at a concentration of 50%, which was 12,33 mm for the ethyl acetate extract and 16,00 mm for the ethanol extract. The MIC test of the ethanol extract of the meniran herb, which had the best antibacterial activity, found that at a concentration of 2,5% it was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of patient satisfaction with the quality of pharmaceutical services in the pharmaceutical installation at the Batam City Regional General Hospital. This study uses 5 dimensions of quality (servqual) namely the dimensions of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles. This research is included in the non-experimental type and cross-sectional approach using simple random sampling method. Data analysis was carried out descriptively by comparing the perceived value and expectation value and then connected with the range value to get the patient satisfaction level. The results of the study showed that the level of patient satisfaction had a significant effect on the quality of pharmaceutical services (p<0.05). The highest level of patient satisfaction was found on the tangible dimension of 0.94, and the lowest patient satisfaction was found on the responsiveness dimension of 0.83. This can be interpreted that the level of patient satisfaction is high with pharmaceutical services at the Pharmacy Installation of the Batam City Regional General Hospital.

Abstract

Packaged juice are usually made using only one type of fruit or can be made using two types of fruits or other additional ingredients. Antioxidants are chemical compounds that can be used to protect biological components such as lipids, proteins, vitamins, and DNA. This study aims to determine the level of antioxidant activity in packaged juice drink variants of guava fruit using the FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) method. The method used in this study is the FRAP method to test antioxidant activity. The results of testing the antioxidant activity with the FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) method on the packaged juice drink samples, the level of antioxidant activity in juice drink sample A was 88,359 mgAAE/g sample, sample B was 88,202 mgAAE/g sample, sample C was 83,098 mgAAE/g sample, and sample D was 77,317 mgAAE/g sample. This shows that sample A demonstrated the highest antioxidant activity, followed closely by sample B, while samples C and D exhibited lower levels of antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Bulan Ramadhan merupakan bulan suci yang penuh berkah dan menjadi kesempatan terbaik untuk beramal serta menuai pahala yang berlipat ganda. Bulan Ramadhan menjadi salah satu bulan yang ditunggu-tunggu kehadirannya, dimana pada bulan Ramadhan seluruh anggota keluarga lebih sering berkumpul untuk melakukan buka bersama maupun sahur bersama. Namun, tidak semua orang dapat merasakan hal tersebut seperti contohnya pada anak-anak yang berada di panti asuhan. Dimana beberapa dari mereka tidak dapat merasakan kehangatan itu. Oleh karena itu, dibulan yang mulia ini dilakukan kegiatan sosial berupa pengabdian masyarakat yang pelaksanaannya melibatkan dosen dan mahasiswa Program Studi Sarjana Farmasi, Institut Kesehatan Mitra Bunda. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini termasuk salah satu bagian dari Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan semangat generasi muda dalam memetik keutamaan bulan Ramadhan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diselenggarakan di Panti Asuhan Ar-Rohmah, Tj.Buntung, Kec.Bengkong, Kota Batam. Terdapat beberapa kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi pemberian materi terkait perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat, pembacaan asmaul husna dan sholawat, games, berbuka bersama, sholat berjamaah hingga pemberian santunan kepada Panti Asuhan Ar-Rohmah. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode pendekatan persuasif serta melakukan tanya jawab baik kepada pengurus panti maupun anak-anak yang ada di Panti Asuhan Ar-Rohmah. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat menjadi kesempatan bagi anak-anak yang ada di Panti Asuhan Ar-Rohmah untuk lebih mendapatkan rasa kehangatan atau kekeluargaan, dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan baik di bidang umum terkait pentingnya menjaga kebersihan dan kesehatan maupun di bidang keagamaan serta sekaligus dapat menerapkan maupun mengembangkan karakter yang baik bagi anak-anak yang berada di Panti Asuahan Ar-Rohmah tersebut.

Abstract

Good Distribution Method (CDOB) is a method of distributing or dispensing drugs and/or medicinal substances that aims to ensure quality by quality requirements and intended use in a distribution channel. Actions related to drug distribution are the acquisition, storage, and distribution of drugs from manufacturers to consumers. The use of CDOB is expected to maintain the quality of drugs received by patients and ensure conformity with the quality of drugs from the pharmaceutical industry. The research aims to find out the results of the implementation of Good Medicine Distribution Methods at PBF Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk and PBF Kimia Farma Trading Distribution. This research is a type of observational research (evaluative non-experimental) that is descriptive in nature to get a realistic and objective picture of a condition that is currently occurring in a community group which contains questions addressed to Pharmaceutical Personnel on duty at PBF Kimia Farma and PBF Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk Batam City. The results of research on PBF Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk, and PBF Kimia Farma Trading Distribution, namely the score obtained from the evaluation results of CDOB implementation at PBF Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk is in the very good category, namely with a percentage of (99%) and the score obtained from the evaluation results of CDOB implementation in PBF Kimia Farma Trading Distribution is in the very good category, namely with a percentage of (99%). Based on the research results, the description of CDOB implementation at PBF Enseval Putera Megatrading Tbk and Kimia Farma Trading Distribution is in the very good category (99%).

Abstract

One of the Minimum Service Standards for hospital pharmacy is waiting time. Waiting time for drug service is the time from the patient submitting the prescription to receiving the drug. This study aims to analyze the accuracy of waiting time for non-recipe prescription services for BPJS patients at RSHB Pharmacy Batam City in accordance with Kepmenkes Number 129 / Menkes / SK / II / 2008 and determine the factors that cause the length of a prescription service process. This study used purposive sampling method for BPJS patients at RSHB Batam City. This research concludes with a sample size of 187 non-recipe prescriptions. The conclusion of this study is that the average prescription service time is 49.11 minutes, which means that the Batam City RSHB Pharmacy has not met the Minimum Hospital Service Standards

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a frequently encountered degenerative disease. Indonesia, being one of the most populous countries, experiences a notable increase in the global prevalence of diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus constitutes the most prevalent form, with approximately 90-95% of diabetics falling into this category. Notably, patient compliance in Indonesia falls short of meeting the recommended glycemia target. The root cause of this non-compliance is linked to a lack of understanding among individuals with diabetes mellitus regarding the purpose of therapy, leading to a lack of awareness about potential complications. This research aims to explore the connection between patient characteristics and adherence to medication in Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Tiban Baru Health Center in Batam City. Employing a descriptive correlation approach with a prospective cross-sectional research design, the study utilized purposive sampling, including 92 patients meeting the inclusion criteria. Data collection involved the administration of a compliance questionnaire (MMAS). The study's conclusion reveals a significant association between job characteristics and medication adherence in Type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, evidenced by a p-value of 0.046. Conversely, factors such as gender, age, education, duration of suffering, and comorbidities were not found to be correlated with medication adherence (p-value > 0.05). It is anticipated that healthcare professionals at the Tiban Baru Health Center will impart accurate information to patients, enhancing their awareness of the potential complications associated with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Waste management remains a critical issue in schools due to low awareness of clean living and limited knowledge. This community service aimed to foster early waste awareness at Azalia Integrated Islamic Kindergarten using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. Activities included initial observation, game-based education, teacher-parent training, improved educational tools, and mentoring. Evaluations through pre- and post-tests showed significant improvement in both student and parent understanding of waste sorting. The program cultivated a collective awareness of waste management and is expected to continue as part of a clean and healthy life.

Abstract

Infections caused by Bacillus cereus and Shigella dysenteriae are serious health problems as they can lead to gastrointestinal disorders and contribute to the emergence of antibiotic resistance. One potential strategy to overcome this challenge is the discovery of new antibacterial agents derived from natural sources, such as agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis). This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of gaharu stem extract using a Natural Deep Eutectic Solvent (NADES) composed of choline chloride and citric acid through the Ultrasound Assisted Extraction (UAE) method. The antibacterial assay was performed using the disc diffusion method with various NADES ratios (1:1, 2:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, and 4:1 g/g), with chloramphenicol as the positive control and 10% DMSO as the negative control. The results indicated that the NADES extract with a 1:4 g/g ratio produced the largest inhibition zones against Bacillus cereus and Shigella dysenteriae. Moreover, the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) test showed that the 1:4 NADES extract effectively inhibited bacterial growth at a concentration of 30%. These findings suggest that gaharu stem extract prepared with NADES is a promising, eco-friendly, and potent antibacterial agent.

Abstract

Extraction of bioactive compounds from comfrey leaves (Symphytum officinale L.) was carried out by comparing organic solvents and ionic liquids between conventional and microwave-assisted extraction (IL-MAE) methods. The comfrey leaf powder was extracted under various conditions. The types of organic solvents used are 65% ethanol and ionic liquids. The extraction methods used are reflux and microwave-assisted extraction. The ionic liquid was extracted by microwave-assisted extraction with the following conditions: ionic liquid concentration of 1 mol/L, the solid-liquid ratio of 1:20 (g/mL), extraction time of 10 minutes, and power of 30% (270 Watt). The total phenolic content of the extract was analyzed with a microplate reader. Allantoin and retrorsine N-oxide levels were analyzed by thin-layer chromatography – densitometry. MAE extraction in a solvent containing 65% ethanol resulted in the highest total phenolic content of 1.038±0.012. The highest levels of allantoin were also obtained from MAE extraction with 65% ethanol solvent at 2.922 ± 0.123. The highest levels of retrorsine N-oxide were obtained by extraction of MAE with (BMIM)Br with a concentration of 0.049 ± 0.007. Extraction of comfrey leaves using the MAE method of 65% ethanol produced the highest total phenolic and allantoin content compared to other methods. (BMIM) Br extraction with MAE can attract the highest retrorsine N-oxide in comfrey leaves.  Abstrak: Ekstraksi senyawa bioaktif daun komfrey (Symphytum officinale L.) dilakukan dengan membandingkan pelarut organik dan cairan ionik, antara metode konvensional dengan metode microwave assisted extraction. Serbuk daun komfrey diekstraksi dengan berbagai kondisi. Jenis pelarut organik yang digunakan yaitu etanol 65% dan cairan ionik. Metode ekstraksi konvensional yang dilakukan, yaitu refluks dan microwave-assisted extraction. Cairan ionik diekstraksi denganmicrowave-assistedextraction dengan kondisi: konsentrasi Cairan ionik 1 mol/L, Rasio padatcair 1:20 (g/mL), waktu ekstraksi 10 menit dan power 30% (270 Watt). Kadar fenol total dalam ekstrak dianalisis dengan microplate reader. Sedangkan kadar allantoin dan retrorsine N-oxide dianalis dengan kromatografi lapis tipis–densitometri. Ekstraksi MAE dengan pelarut etanol 65% menghasilkan kadar fenol total tertinggi, yaitu 1,038 ± 0,012. Kadar Allantoin tertinggi didapatkan juga dari ekstraksi MAE dengan pelarut etanol 65% sebanyak 2,922 ± 0,123. Kadar retrorsin N-oksida tertinggi didapatkan dengan ekstraksi MAE dengan (BMIM) Br dengan konsentrasi 0,049 ± 0,007. Ekstraksi daun komfrey dengan metode MAE etanol 65% menghasilkan kadar fenol total dan allantoin paling tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode lain. Ekstraksi (BMIM) Br dengan MAE dapat menarik kadar retrorsin N-oksida paling tinggi dalam daun komfrey.
