Abstract

This study focuses on finding the relationship between morphological awareness and English vocabulary knowledge of Sixth semester students in IKIP Mataram. Many researchers have conducted a number of studies to find out the most effective strategies in learning vocabulary.  One of them  which is discussed in this study is applying morphological awareness. The first research problem is talking about the English vocabulary size of the students. The second problem is talking about the level of the students? morphological awareness. and the third problem is talking about the relationship between morphological awareness and the English vocabulary size of sixth semester students in IKIP Mataram.   In turn, in conducting this research, the researcher uses a mixed methods. Not only quantitative analysis, descriptive statistics and other statistical tests, but also qualitative analysis are used. The data presents the students? vocabulary size in the form of level which is adapted from  the theory by Nation and  Beglar (2007) and also their morphological awareness in form of level which is adapted from the theory by McBride-Chang et al (2005). This data also presents the relationship between morphological awareness and English vocabulary knowledge in form of  correlation based on Pearson product-moment formula. This analysis shows that the sixth semester students in IKIP Mataram are in level 6,000 means that their results is good enough based on  Beglar and nation (2007). And the results of the morphological awareness are variant. Thence, this study also found that there is relationship between the students? vocabulary size and their morphological awareness.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve English communication skills for souvenir sellers of pottery crafts in the Sasak handicraft Center, Penujak Village, Central Lombok Regency. The program utilizes a role-play-based training method, consisting of three main sessions: Theoretical Learning, where participants learn vocabulary, phrases, and basic communication techniques for interacting with tourists; Practical Role-Playing, where participants practice roles as buyers or sellers using prepared scenarios and receive feedback from instructors; and Realistic Simulation, where participants engage in real-life interactions with foreign tourists. The program also includes initial observations, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The program's partners are 30 souvenir sellers from Sasak Pottery. Evaluation is carried out through direct observation of the participants' use of English vocabulary and phrases. The results show that: 1) Participants have gained theoretical knowledge of basic communication concepts, and 2) participants are able to apply vocabulary and phrases in their communication skills with foreign tourists, especially in selling products. This training is expected to have a positive impact on the well-being of the community, particularly the craftsmen and souvenir sellers in Penujak Village.

Abstract

This study investigated EFL students’ speaking skills viewed from self-efficacy at seniors high schools. This to measure students' self-efficacy beliefs and assessments to evaluate their speaking performance to find factors influencing their speaking skills.. The findings of this study had the potential to provide valuable insights into the factors influencing students' speaking skills development and contribute to the enhancement of language learning and teaching practices, also to find whether there is a relationships between students' self-efficacy levels and their performance in speaking tasks. A quantitatave approach was employed by using SPSS IBM 26  and qualitative approach was employed by using observation and questionnaires, utilizing surveys, to measure students' self-efficacy beliefs and assessments to evaluate their speaking performance. The research included 30 second-grade Social Studies students from SMAN 7 Mataram, selected through purposive sampling. A questionnaire with two types of items, totaling 10 questions, was employed as the research tool. The major factors influencing students’ self efficacy at IPS class at SMAN 7 Mataram are social persuasion (50%) and Emotional & Physiological States (50%). The results indicated a strong relationships, with a Pearson correlation coefficient (R) of 0.895, which is considered very high, falling within the 0.80 to 1.000 range. The statistical analysis at a significance level of ? = 0.05 showed a p-value lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, confirming a significant correlation between students’ self-efficacy and their speaking skills. It means that students need encouragement and support from parents, teachers, and their community to boost their self-efficacy to improve English speaking skills.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to train the Wood Carving UKM group to create Web Content and Brochures in Sesela Village. The partner in this activity is the Chair of the Sesela Village Wood Carving UKM Group. The implementation method used in an effort to achieve the goals in this Community Service activity program was through 3 stages, namely: observation, preparation and evaluation. The results of this activity are 1) the zakir art shop UKM group in Selsela village can understand the benefits of web content and brochures on consumer attention 2) The zakira art shop wood carving UKM group can create their own web content and brochures even though they are still in a simple form and still need assistance. This training can be said to be a success where the craftsmen really expect a follow-up program. The follow-up programs that will be carried out include: marketing handicraft products through an English-language website that has been prepared to make it more attractive to consumers both domestically and abroad.
