Abstract

Article clarified the relationship between knowledge of syntax and reading skill in English for specific purposes. The research was conducted at the Industrial Engineering Faculty of Trisakti University in 2002 with sample of 100 students using simple random sampling by Lottery. Data was analyzed by using simple regression test and simple correlation test. The result of the research revealed that there was a positive relationship between knowledge of syntax and reading skill in English for specific purposes. It is concluded that reading skill in English for specific purposes can be improved by increasing knowledge of syntax.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dampak ekonomi gig terhadap kinerja dan produktivitas Generasi Z (Gen Z) menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods yang menggabungkan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Ekonomi gig, dengan fleksibilitas dan sifat proyek jangka pendeknya, semakin populer di kalangan Gen Z, namun pengaruhnya terhadap produktivitas belum diteliti secara menyeluruh.Metode kualitatif dilakukan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dengan 10 responden Gen Z yang bekerja sebagai freelancer, driver online, dan pekerja proyek sementara. Responden dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling untuk memastikan relevansi data. Wawancara ini menggali motivasi, tantangan, dan dampak ekonomi gig terhadap manajemen waktu, kinerja, dan produktivitas. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik tematik untuk menemukan pola utama.Pada metode kuantitatif, kuesioner skala Likert disebarkan kepada 100 responden yang dipilih dengan simple random sampling. Kuesioner mengukur dua variabel bebas, yaitu fleksibilitas dan durasi kerja, serta dua variabel terikat, yaitu kinerja dan produktivitas. Uji regresi linier sederhana digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara variabel-variabel tersebut.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekonomi gig memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja dan produktivitas Gen Z. Secara kualitatif, fleksibilitas kerja meningkatkan motivasi, sementara tantangan seperti manajemen waktu dan ketidakpastian pendapatan dapat menurunkan produktivitas. Secara kuantitatif, fleksibilitas memiliki hubungan positif dengan kinerja, sedangkan durasi kerja yang panjang cenderung berdampak negatif pada produktivitas.Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mendalam tentang ekonomi gig dan implikasinya bagi Gen Z. Hasilnya diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi pengambil kebijakan dan pelaku industri untuk menciptakan ekosistem kerja yang lebih mendukung produktivitas dan kesejahteraan pekerja gig

Abstract

The R programming language is generally known for its strength in Monte Carlo simulations, and numerical computing. This study will try to utilize R for discrete event simulations, namely in transportation systems, especially sugarcane transportation. The purpose of this paper is to study the performance of the sugarcane transportation system from the plantation to the factory, by utilizing the R programming language. The things that will be studied are to obtain changes in the system parameters so that more optimal performance is obtained. These parameters include the time required for the sugarcane to be in the transportation system, the length of the sugarcane pile in the plantation before being transported, the amount of resources needed for all transportation activities (loading, transporting and unloading), the number of transport equipment, loading equipment and unloading equipment needed, so that the harvest target is met and the waiting time for the sugarcane to be milled is as minimal as possible. As well as the level of utility of all resources provided in the system. The stages in this study include 1) literature review, 2) describing the sugarcane transportation system, 3) building assumptions and system constraints, 4) designing the transportation system conceptually, 5) developing programming code, 6) model testing/verification, 7) model validation, and 8) conducting experiments on the model. The results of the analysis of the model output indicate that the “open source R” programming language can be effectively applied to model the sugarcane transportation system.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji pengelolaan sampah berbasis teknologi dan nilai keagamaan di kawasan Pantai Ancol yang menghadapi tantangan besar akibat tingginya sampah yang tidak terkelola. Indonesia sebagai negara maritim memiliki sumber daya alam yang melimpah. Sayangnya, pencemaran lingkungan, khususnya sampah di pesisir, telah mengancam ekosistem laut, menurunkan daya tarik wisata, serta mempengaruhi kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pola perilaku masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah dan mengeksplorasi integrasi nilai keagamaan sebagai upaya peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan deskriptif, penelitian ini melibatkan observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan pengelola dan masyarakat setempat, serta dokumentasi kondisi Pantai Ancol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas sampah berasal dari aktivitas pengunjung dan aliran sungai. Dampak utama meliputi pencemaran ekosistem laut, penurunan kualitas destinasi wisata, dan gangguan kesehatan masyarakat. Meski upaya pengelolaan telah dilakukan, seperti penyediaan tempat sampah strategis dan peningkatan jumlah petugas kebersihan, partisipasi masyarakat masih rendah. Penelitian ini juga mengungkap bahwa nilai-nilai keagamaan seperti kebersihan sebagai bagian dari iman dapat digunakan untuk membangun kesadaran kolektif dalam menjaga lingkungan. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan perlunya pendekatan holistik yang mengintegrasikan teknologi dan nilai spiritual untuk menciptakan pengelolaan sampah yang efektif dan berkelanjutan. Solusi ini diharapkan dapat memperbaiki kondisi Pantai Ancol sekaligus menjadi model untuk kawasan pesisir lainnya di Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the Buddha's journeys, the concept of Buddhist adventure-based digital games, and students' perception of Buddhist adventure-based digital games to enhance English language skills. This research employs descriptive research with a quantitative method. Questionnaires were distributed to 98 non-English students majoring in Buddhism who have experienced English language learning using Buddhist adventure-based digital games at Nalanda Institute in Jakarta after the lecturer integrated the game as a teaching tool, with the research conducted from March to July 2024. The findings indicate that 1) 95.90% of students have a good knowledge of the concept of digital games for learning English; 2) 100% of students have a good understanding of the Buddha Adventure; 3) 99.00% of students enjoyed learning English using digital games; 4) 95.90% of students are interested in incorporating these games into their English studies; 5) 96.90% of students have a good comprehension of learning English through Buddhist adventure-based digital games as a learning medium; 6) 98.00% of students support the effectiveness of this game to enhance their language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Therefore, this study concludes that the perceptions of non-English students majoring in Buddhism towards Buddhist adventure-based digital games as a medium for learning English are highly significant. The results of this research imply that Nalanda Institute should integrate these findings into its learning policies.
