Abstract

This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the demand and its elasticity for marine fish in the South Cilacap Sub-District, Cilacap Regency. For data collection, interviews and questionnaires were used with respondents consisting of 100 households, while the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) was used for analysis. According to the results, the demand for marine fish was influenced by several factors, namely price, fish expenditure, income, number of family members, and tastes. Also, the price of elasticity of the four fish commodities was inelastic. Income elasticity of tuna, skipjack, and squid were inferior goods, while shrimp were luxury goods. The cross-price elasticity of the four fish commodities is more complementary. This research suggests that the relevant government agencies must improve facilities and infrastructure to maintain the quality and availability of fresh marine fish commodities. The Government through related departments or managers of local Fish Auction Places (TPI) need to improve facilities and infrastructure as well as improve infrastructure, for example providing fish coolers so that quality is maintained and ensuring the availability of fresh marine fish commodities can be maintained. Furthermore, the gemarikan program (love eating fish program) can be maximized to increase the taste and awareness, and interest of the people of Cilacap Regency in consuming marine fish as a side dish.

Abstract

The ASEAN happiness index is low compared to the world happiness index because it was ranked 6th out of 10 other regions in 2021. From Frey's theory perspective, research on the happiness index in ASEAN is needed using economic and non-economic variables. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the effect of GDP per capita, inflation, population density, and dependency ratio on the happiness index in ASEAN-9 and examines the most influential variables. The secondary data was obtained from the World Happiness Report in the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. Data were analyzed using panel regression with the r1andom effect model method selected. Found that GDP per capita, inflation, population density, and dependency ratio simultaneously affect the happiness index in ASEAN-9. Partially, GDP has a positive and significant effect on the happiness index in ASEAN-9. Meanwhile, inflation, population density, and dependency ratio are not significant to the happiness index in ASEAN-9. GDP per capita is the most influential variable to the happiness index in ASEAN-9. The finding is that during 2015-2021, in ASEAN-9 countries, there has been GDP per capita growth of 23%, with the average happiness index increasing from 5,339 to 5,431. The implication is that each government of ASEAN countries needs to pay attention to efforts to increase per capita income so that ASEAN people can live more prosperously and happily.

Abstract

The development of public housing infrastructure can encourage the opening of isolated areas, reduce production costs, create new centers of economic activity, expand employment opportunities, increase consumer purchasing power, and trigger economic growth at regional and national levels. This study investigates the effect of public housing on economic growth in Indonesia. The control variables included telecommunications, electricity, and education. The research method used was multiple linear regression with a panel data approach in 34 provinces of Indonesia from 2011 to 2019. The results show that telecommunications and education have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Indonesia. Meanwhile, housing and electricity have no significant effect on economic growth in Indonesia. These results imply a need to evaluate the benefits of public housing development. Telecommunication infrastructure development must be evenly distributed so people can access the internet to support economic activities. In addition, the government must formulate effective policies so that the people of Indonesia can access education equally.JEL: H41, H44, H53, H54ABSTRAKInfrastruktur perumahan yang layak akan meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat, sehingga meningkatkan produktivitas serta akan mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi daerah dan nasional. Abstract

Labor productivity in Indonesia has experienced steady growth but disparities remain and the level is still relatively low compared to neighboring ASEAN countries. This study analyzes the influence of education, health, and economic infrastructure on labor productivity using panel data from 33 provinces over the period 2010 to 2023. The analysis applies the Fixed Effect Model. The findings reveal that simultaneously, all three variables significantly impact labor productivity. However, when assessed individually, only health and economic infrastructure show a significant positive relationship while education has no statistically significant effect. These outcomes highlight the urgency of enhancing health services and expanding access to ICT, particularly in less-developed regions. At the same time, it suggest the need to refine educational policies by improving curriculum relevance to labor market demands and expanding vocational training programs to more effectively support productivity growth.
