Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM), a chronic metabolic condition marked by elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), is brought on by an imbalance between the supply and demand for insulin. Decreased or missing insulin causes glucose to be retained in the circulation, increasing blood sugar levels while depleting the glucose that is required for cell survival and function. In type 2 DM patients, complaints of neuropathy are common. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of diabetic foot exercise on patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center. Methods: Pre-experimental research is the type of study being conducted. During December 2022 to January 2023, the study was conducted at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center. A total of 34 people were included in the sampling method with purposive sampling. The Wilcoxon Sign Rank test was used for analysis.Result: This study included 34 samples, and convenience or accidental sampling was used to choose the samples. The Wilcoxon test's asymp sign (2 tailed), which is 0.02 or 0.05, reveals the significance value. The results of the research show that before intervention the most sensitivity is moderate with 18 (61,2%) after treatment, data show that the most sensitivity is good with 16 (47%); p value 0,02<0,05. The sensitivity of the feet of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center is influenced by diabetic foot exercise. Conclusion: Patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus at the Selemadeg Timur II Health Center have sensitive feet, which is influenced by diabetic foot activity). It is important for families and communities to give motivation to the diabetes mellitus patients to do diabetic foot as one of alternative therapies to prevent foot complications such and increase foot sensitivity. Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, Foot Sensitivity, and Diabetic Foot Exercise

Abstract

Introduction: Disaster-prone regions like Karangasem Regency, located in the Ring of Fire, are susceptible to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. It becomes imperative to ensure that students possess adequate disaster preparedness knowledge and skills. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of role-playing and audio-visual educational interventions based on local wisdom in improving disaster preparedness behavior among elementary school students. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design using a pre- and post-test approach, including a control group. The study participants consisted of elementary school students in grades 4, 5, and 6 who were willing to participate and physically fit. A total of 56 students were included in the study, selected through simple random sampling, with 28 students assigned to each of the intervention and control groups. The research was conducted at SD 6 Ban, situated in Kubu, Karangasem, Bali. Results: The utilization of audiovisual educational videos and locally rooted role-playing activities significantly enhanced disaster preparedness behavior among elementary school students at SD 6 Ban. This effectiveness was demonstrated by the p-values, which were 0.001, 0.002, and 0.001 for knowledge, attitude, and behavior, respectively, indicating a substantial positive impact of the intervention on all three aspects. Conclusion: The audiovisual educational videos and locally rooted role-playing activities have proven to be effective in enhancing the elements of knowledge, attitude, and behavior among elementary school students. It is our hope that this method can be consistently applied as an ongoing intervention to further improve disaster preparedness among students. Abstract

Introduction: In Indonesia, pulmonary tuberculosis causes more than 95% of mortality. WHO has established a target for treating tuberculosis that is aligned with Asta Cita 4, which specifies that Indonesia would be TB-free by 2030. Palliative care does not only mean end-of-life care. Methods: mixed methods sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data was first collected using a one-group pre- and post-test design, and the qualitative analysis using in depth interview. Merdekka Intervention using RESPECT instrument and 80 sample in pre post test. also 15 participant to explore the experience after doing MERDEKKA intervention. Result: The majority of respondents (35.8%) were aged 62 to 72, largely male (96.1%), and had completed junior high school (43.5%). The majority of respondents were farmers (48.7%), had tuberculosis in their family (96.1%), and had been on treatment for at least 6 months. The MERDEKKA intervention had a substantial impact on TB patients' knowledge and attitudes, with a p-value of 0.001 for knowledge and 0.003 for attitudes. The effect size value was larger than 1.0, indicating a very powerful influence. Patients' experiences after the MERDEKKA intervention are described in three themes: Developing good trust between the patient and the nurse, providing proper and necessary care, and being enthusiastic about healing within six months Conclusion: The palliative care model, including the MERDEKKA intervention, is critical in the care of TB patients. Even though it is not in the terminal phase, its presence in the initial phase of therapy can improve the patient's health in all aspects of need.
