Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model and the direct learning model of student learning outcomes in DKB subjects in class X DPIB of Vocational High School 2 Surakarta; to analyze the differences in learning outcomes between students who have high critical thinking skills and students who have low critical thinking skills in DKB subjects in class X DPIB Vocational High School 2 Surakarta; and to analyze whether there is an interaction between the learning model and students' critical thinking skills towards student learning outcomes in the class X DKB DPIB Vocational High School 2 Surakarta. This study is a quantitative experimental study with a 2x2 factorial design. The sample of this study was the tenth grade students of DPIB Vocational High School 2 Surakarta in the 2018/2019 academic year, totaling 64 students. Data obtained from the results of observations, interviews, and tests. The data analysis technique uses 2-way Anava technique. The results is study's learning using Jigsaw cooperative learning model obtain the results of cognitive learning higher significant than learning outcomes cognitive students learn by using direct learning model on the subjects of DKB in Vocational High School 2 Surakarta; cognitive learning outcomes for students who have critical thinking skills height significantly higher than the results of cognitive learning students who have the skills to think critically low on the subjects of DKB in Vocational High School 2 Surakarta; and there is a very significant interaction between the learning model and the skill level which is critical to the cognitive learning outcomes of students in the DKB subjects at Vocational High School 2 Surakarta.

Abstract

Indonesia's rapidly growing construction industry is a key economic driver, presenting both challenges and opportunities for graduates of the Building Engineering Education Program. Higher education plays a crucial role in developing competent human resources with the relevant knowledge, skills, and expertise to meet industry needs. This study maps the qualifications of technicians and analysts based on the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the construction sector and analyzes the alignment of competency units with Building Engineering Education State University of Jakarta course outcomes. The analysis of SKKNI data from 2024 found that out of 71 job levels in the building subclassification, 14 are for technicians or analysts at KKNI levels 4 to 6, but only 10 have detailed SKKNI documents. In the construction management classification, there are 39 job levels, with 16 for technicians/analysts, all with detailed SKKNI documents. The analysis indicates that 11 job levels are relevant to Building Engineering Education course outcomes, while two are not. Specifically, several job levels in both subclassifications are rated from Relevant to Very Relevant. To address curriculum gaps, recommendations include strengthening the existing curriculum and adding new courses. This study aims to provide a foundation for curriculum revitalization, ensuring Building Engineering Education graduates are competitive in the labor market and meet the evolving needs of the construction industry.

Abstract

The integration of technology in education, particularly in Vocational High Schools (SMK), is increasingly necessary to support interactive and digital-based learning. This study aims to develop a mobile-based learning media application for the subject of road and bridge construction for students in the building engineering department of SMK. Based on preliminary observations and data, 86% of the 96 respondents stated that conventional teaching methods remain ineffective, and 96% expressed the need for more interactive media. This research uses the Research and Development (RD) method with the Alessi Trollip model, consisting of three stages: (1) Planning (needs analysis of students and teachers), (2) Design (development of user interface, curriculum content, and simulation features), and (3) Development (program implementation to produce a product ready for testing). Alpha testing involving media experts, subject matter experts, and practitioners yielded a rating of "Excellent" (score 85–100%). Meanwhile, beta testing with 96 students resulted in a score of 86.10%, indicating that the application is effective in enhancing understanding of the material through 3D simulation features, demonstration videos, and interactive quizzes. In conclusion, the application is suitable for implementation as an interactive learning solution in SMK, especially for technical subjects such as road and bridge construction. The implication is that the development of similar media can serve as a reference for educators in leveraging mobile technology to improve the quality of vocational education.

Abstract

Workshop pembuatan maket jembatan kayu balsa bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa SMA terhadap konsep dasar konstruksi, mengembangkan keterampilan teknis, dan memperkuat kemampuan kerja tim melalui integrasi pembelajaran berbasis STEM. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Sekolah Victory Plus Bekasi dengan melibatkan 28 siswa kelas X. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah kurangnya pemahaman konsep konsep fisika konstruksi secara abstrak, minimnya keterampilan teknis dalam menggunakan alat, serta pengalaman kerja tim yang terbatas. Metodologi yang digunakan meliputi pemberian materi dasar konstruksi, pembentukan kelompok, pemberian arahan teknis, pelaksanaan workshop, dan evaluasi melalui tes pemahaman serta hasil maket jembatan. Bahan utama yang digunakan adalah kayu balsa, yang dikenal karena sifatnya yang ringan dan ramah lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa, dengan rata-rata skor post-test meningkat sebesar 20% dibandingkan pre-test. Selain itu, dua dari tujuh kelompok berhasil menyelesaikan maket sesuai dengan desain yang ditentukan, menunjukkan kemampuan teknis dan kolaborasi yang baik. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa integrasi STEM melalui pembuatan maket jembatan kayu balsa efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran siswa. Kegiatan ini juga berpotensi untuk diperluas ke sekolah lain dan dikembangkan dengan tingkat kompleksitas yang lebih tinggi. Sebagai rekomendasi, pelatihan tambahan dalam penggunaan alat dan manajemen waktu dapat meningkatkan hasil kegiatan di masa mendatang. Dengan pendekatan ini, diharapkan pendidikan berbasis STEM di Indonesia dapat semakin berkembang, memberikan manfaat jangka panjang bagi siswa dan dunia pendidikan.
