Abstract

In the digital era, teachers are required to produce creative and relevant teaching materials quickly. However, many teachers in rural areas, such as in Candimulyo District, still rely on manual methods that are time-consuming due to a lack of familiarity with modern technology. This community service aums to optimize the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically ChatGPT and Canva AI, as “smart assistans” to help teachers streamline their workload. The methods employed was a workshop with a hands-on training approach, guiding teachers to use AI for drafting lesson plans and designing visual media. The activity was attended by 30 teachers from LP Ma’arif. The evolution results showed a significant increase in competence. The average cognitive score rose from 83.33 (pre-test) to 100.00 (post-test) with an N-Gain of 0.48 (Medium Category). Furthermore, participants responded positively (score 4.19/5.00) regarding their ability to use these tools technically. It can be concluded that ChatGPT and Canva AI are effective in serving as smart assistants that increase teachers productivity and creativity in developing teaching materials.

Abstract

Low-carbon steel such as SS400 is highly susceptible to corrosion, particularly when exposed to marine environments or artificial seawater. One of the most common methods to mitigate corrosion is by applying protective coatings. This study aims to analyze the effect of coating type and thickness on the corrosion rate of SS400 steel using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). The samples were prepared by applying two types of coatings, epoxy and flintkote, with variations of one or two layers. The EIS results revealed that uncoated SS400 exhibited the lowest impedance values, while coated samples showed a significant increase in impedance. For epoxy coating, the real impedance (Z’) was 8×104 Ω with a single layer and increased to 4×105 Ω with two layers. In comparison, flintkote coatings demonstrated much higher impedance values, reaching 1.5×107 Ω, particularly with two layers. The substantial increase in impedance indicates that flintkote provides superior barrier properties compared to epoxy, and that applying multiple layers further enhances corrosion resistance. Therefore, two-layer flintkote coating was found to be the most effective in improving the corrosion resistance of SS400 steel in artificial seawater.

Abstract

In Indonesia, education is no longer purely a public good because some of it has been privatized by the government, so that people can no longer get it for free. It can be seen from the large number of private schools not only from local origins, but many international schools have been established in Indonesia, and also occur in various countries. This type of research is qualitative research using documentation study data collection methods in the form of relevant books and journals. Data analysis techniques start from data collection, data reduction, presentation and discussion of data then conclusions are drawn. The result of this research is that education can be a public good and can be a private good. Education as a public good because its provision is free, universal and equal access is the basis for producing other public goods. Education as a private good because of a necessity there is competition in getting a decent education. The competition must be purely a competition of intelligence and intellect, not a competition for money or position.

Abstract

The increasing coverage of sexual violence cases in Indonesian online media reflects the power of the media in shaping public opinion. One of the cases in the spotlight was the reporting of Agus Buntung, a man with a disability who became a suspect in an alleged sexual assault. This study aims to analyse how the three largest online media in Indonesia, Tribunnews.com, Kompas.com, and Jawapos.com, framed the news of the Agus Buntung case, focusing on the application of the Pan & Kosicki framing model and its relevance to journalistic ethics. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Pan & Kosicki's framing analysis method, which includes four structures: syntax, script, thematic, and rhetorical. Data sources were three headlines from each media, selected based on popularity and dominant narrative content. Each news story was analysed based on the framing tools and evaluated against journalistic ethical principles, such as balance (cover both sides), accuracy, non-discrimination, and protection of vulnerable groups, in this case people with disabilities. The results showed that the three media framed the case with a point of view that tended to corner the perpetrator, with variations in framing intensity. Tribunnews.com uses a sensational and dramatic writing style that is disproportionate to the perpetrator's condition as a person with a disability, and often uses terms that suggest negative labelling. Kompas.com emphasised the statement of the legal apparatus, but still mentioned the disability label without the context of protection. Meanwhile, Jawapos.com tried to present two sides of the narrative, but still lacked space to provide clarification from the perpetrator or his legal counsel. These findings show a tendency to violate journalistic ethics in the three media, especially in the aspects of presumption of innocence, balance, and treatment of vulnerable groups. Media framing shapes social reality that influences public perception in an emotional and non-neutral manner, as explained in Berger and Luckmann's social construction theory
