Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of the research is to test and to analyze the hypothesis about the effects of grammar competences and vocabulary mastery on writing skill of making English business letter. The research has been done by the methodology of survey. The population is the students of business administration program at private polytechnic LP3I Jakarta campus Cileungsi. The number of samples is 74. The samples are distributed in the first level until the last level of the program. The research used random sampling as sampling technique for determining which part of population will be a sample. The instrument has been used on this research is vocabulary mastery test. The test is divided into two. The first is general English vocabulary test and the second is business English vocabulary test. The general English vocabulary test consists of 30 numbers multiple choice questions and the business English vocabulary test consists of 20 numbers multiple choice questions and 5 matching questions.Keywords : grammar competence, vocabulary mastery, writing skill on making English business letter.

Abstract

Teaching Speaking effectively is one of problems in the field of language teaching.  Many teachers and schools are frustated in activating students’ speaking ability. We need a research to find an appropriate teaching method and teaching strategy to handle the problem. This qualitative research was applied by using system perspective. Theoretically, system perspective is a study of system by questioning: how and why a system entirely works as it should be. The researcher will come into the system, observing how the bilingual engineering is applied. The object of the research will be focused on observing the forms of bilingual engineering and all parties’ opinion related to applying bilingual program. The researcher also did literature study as a comparative study especially related to bilingual theory. The result of the research shows that the program is success. It is shown by the good satisfaction level. Satisfaction will be able to improve school’s academic achievement. Finally, the researcher believes that the application of the bilingual program has a significant implication to the school’s overall achievement.

Abstract

Mengajarkan speaking sebagai salah satu keterampilan dasar dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan bagian paling sulit dalam proses pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Hal inilah yang membuat peneliti menjadi sangat tertarik untuk dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi masyarakat dengan mencari solusi terkait permasalahan tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mencoba mendesign sebuah tabel khusus yang disebut TTS (tabel tenses sederhana). Tabel TTS ini di uji dengan menggunakannya dalam pengajaran speaking. Selanjutnya peneliti akan melakukan uji kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara kepada para objek dalam penelitian ini. Adapun alasan peneliti melakukan uji kualitatif dalam penelitian ini, dimaksudkan untuk memperoleh feed back. Baik dari responden maupun dari sejawat. Pardigma penelitian ini adalah pendekatan perspektif sistem. Perspektif sistem adalah suatu studi tentang sistem yang mempertanyakan: bagaimana sebuah sistem secara keseluruhan dapat berfungsi sebagaimana mestinya dan mengapa hal tersebut dapat berfungsi sebagaimana mestinya. Hasil dari penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa prinsipnya, ruh media pembelajaran TTS tidak terletak pada material fisik sebagai sebuah media pengajaran, namun justru terletak pada sistem dan prosedur. Media TTS bisa dalam bentuk apa saja: bisa poster dengan material khusus, soft-poster di media sosial dan layar komputer atau mungkin cukup dibuat seederhana diatas papan tulis dengan marker dan kapur. Terkait dengan respon responden, mayoritas peserta uji coba memberikan respon positif terkait dengan penggunaan media pembelajaran TTS dalam pengajaran speaking.

Abstract

Peningkatan kualitas literasi suatu bangsa merupakan hasil dan bukti dari keberhasilan sistem pendidikan bangsa tersebut. Masyarakat menjadi lebih berpengetahuan, informatif, kreatif dan berdaya guna. Pada akhirnya akan dapat meningkatkan national competitiveness bangsa ditengah persaingan global. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui relevansi literasi dalam era kekinian. Hal ini dilakukan dengan membandingkan makna literasi awal dengan makna literasi terkini berdasarkan perkembangan zaman. Peneliti memfokuskan kajian analisis deskriptif mengenai 6 (enam) literasi dasar yang memanfaatkan data kualitatif menjadi informasi deskriptif. Informasi dalam penelitian ini dijabarkan berbentuk deskripsi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan dengan menerapkan budaya literasi seperti membaca, berfikir dan menulis baik sebelum maupun sesudah proses pembelajaran di sekolah, rumah atau di masyarakat akan meningkatkan Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration dan Creativity.

Abstract

The development of the industrial revolution has brought human’s civilization in applying ICT (Information and Communication Technology) massively. The Indonesian government is trying to achieve “Indonesia Connected”. Unfortunately many Indonesian citizens don't have any access and enough knowledge about ICT itself. The research project presents a solution for the problem above. We hope the research project will be able to give a great description about how ICT-Volunteer helps people socializing digital literacy and helps people to access TIK in Indonesia. The research project uses the approach “perfective system”. The definition of perspective system is a study on a system by questioning: how and why the system can work properly. The researcher will enter the system doing an observation figuring out how ICT-volunteers of Indonesia work doing their volunteering job. Many activities have been done by Bapak Bambang Soeprijanto as the director of informatics empowerment since 2008. He has made some meetings, collaboration and coordination among stakeholders in building Indonesian informatics society. (relawantik.or.id, n.d.). The director of informatics empowerment, Ibu Mariam F. Barata, in 2011 continued the policy by supporting bigger meetings such as communication forum, coordination, collaboration and an event “Kerjasama Komunitas TIK“ (FK5T) national level. That event also established an organization, Relawan TIK on July 4th, 2011. It was witnessed by the General Director of Informatics Application. Kemkominfo, Ashwin Sasongko. It was decided as the anniversary of Relawan TIK Indonesia. (Indonesian ICT-volunteer). Being a member of Relawan TIK has many benefits such as an opportunity of sharing knowledge and skill of ICT, improving communication and leadership skill, building networking and positive social relationship.

Abstract

In the digitalization era, English writing skill has a very important role, especially in copywriting and digital marketing. The purpose of the research is to identify the urgency of English writing skill in creating effective content for global audiences. By using qualitative descriptive approach, Data was obtained through deep interviews, documentation studies, observation and questionnaire from digital marketing practitioner, copywriter professional and digital marketing academia. The result of the research shows that the ability of English writing contributing significantly to the success of a marketing strategy such as the increasing engagement and the content attractiveness. The research findings also reveal the main challenges faced by practitioners, including a lack of training, time constraints in content production, and cross-cultural communication barriers. However, opportunities to overcome these challenges are widely available through the implementation of industry-driven training programs, the use of digital tools, and cross-cultural collaboration in producing globally relevant content. These findings highlight the importance of synergy between technical skills and cultural context understanding in optimizing the potential of digital marketing. This research provides both practical and theoretical contributions by recommending strategies to improve English writing skills, whether through formal education or professional training. Furthermore, this study is expected to serve as a reference for educational institutions and industry players in aligning training programs with global market needs.
