Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out: (1) what types of errors were made by students in solving questions on the fundamental method of counting, (2) what factors caused students to make mistakes in solving questions on the fundamental method of counting. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research is the first semester of Informatics Engineering students. Data collection using test and interview methods. Data analysis techniques include the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification and drawing conclusions. In this study, student errors were analyzed based on Newman's five error indicators, (a) errors in reading questions, (b) errors in understanding questions, (c) errors in process transformation, (d) errors in process skills, and (e) errors in write down the final answer. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the types of errors made by Informatics Engineering students in solving the questions of the fundamental method of counting were three, namely (1) errors in receiving information including errors in determining what was asked the cause was not being careful in reading the questions, (2) errors related concepts include: (a) errors in using permutation and combination formulas. The reason is that students cannot understand the meaning of the problem, when to use permutations and when to use combinations. And (3) errors in counting, the cause is because students are not careful.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kepraktisan dan keefektifan LKS materi lingkaran yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tahun 2020 dengan melibatkan siswa SMPN 1 Sukodadi kelas VIII. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase, yakni fase penelitian awal, fase pembuatan prototipe, dan fase penilaian. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket respon siswa dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Dari hasil angket respon siswa diperoleh bahwa semua aspek terkategori baik (aspek manfaat 74,58%, aspek kemudahan penggunaan 75%, dan aspek kemenarikan sajian 73,96%) sehingga LKS materi lingkaran yang dikembangkan memenuhi aspek kepraktisan. Selanjutnya dari hasil tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis diperoleh bahwa 80% siswa telah mencapai ketuntasan belajar klasikal, yakni mendapatkan skor  sehingga LKS materi yang dikembangkan memenuhi aspek keefektifan. Hasil tersebut menunjukan bahwa LKS yang dikembangkan layak digunakan untuk melatihkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' geometric thinking skills on circle material based on Van Hiele's theory (Visualization, Analysis, Informal Deduction, Deduction, Rigor). The subjects of this study were 3 students of class IX-A SMP Hang Tuah 4 Surabaya based on their initial mathematical abilities (high, medium, and low). The initial mathematical ability data was obtained from data on report cards for the even semester of the 2021-2022 academic year and based on the considerations of the mathematics teacher for class IX-A. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Collecting data in this study used tests and interviews. The test instrument used in this study was a circular geometry test in the form of mathematical questions with circle material arranged based on the Van Hiele indicator without stage 4 (Rigor) with the consideration that the research was conducted in class IX SMP so students have not been able to understand the material at stage 4 (rigor). Student with high initial mathematical abilities, geometric thinking abilities is already at stage 2 (informal deduction). Student with medium mathematical abilities, geometric thinking skills is at stage 2 (informal deduction). Student with low mathematical abilities, geometric thinking skills is at stage 0 (visualization).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the difficulty of teachers in implementing learning that focuses on improving students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The study was a descriptive study. Data were collected via an online form that included open-ended questions. Data were collected from 93 mathematics teachers. Data were analyzed by coding qualitative data using spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel. The categories were derived from the participants’ own words or phrases. The results showed that 81.2 percent of respondents stated that the difficulty teachers experience to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities is the lack of motivation and disengagement of students and other difficulties. This research also presents alternative solutions that can be practiced by teachers in their respective classes.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the creative thinking ability of students in arranging and solving contextual problems on arithmetic sequence. This research is a descriptive quantitative study through a Lesson Study framework with a subject of 18 students of the Mathematics Education study program at the Islamic University of Lamongan. The instruments in this study include attitude assessment sheets used to measure student activity in participating in learning and Student Worksheets used to measure students' creative thinking ability in arranging and solving contextual problems on arithmetic sequences. The results of the analysis show that the average score of student activities during learning is 85.13% while the average score of students' creative thinking ability is 71.875% in the Enough category.

Abstract

Creative thinking is one of the most important aspects of learning, with creative thinking students can develop their abilities in every material being taught. This study aims to describe students' creative thinking skills in learning using an ethnomathematical-based inquiry learning model on two-dimensional figure. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were 9th grade students of junior high school, which amounted to 15 people. Data collection techniques used in the form of test-based interviews and questionnaires. The data obtained were then analyzed using data analysis techniques with the stages of condensing data, data display, and conclusions drawing. The results showed that each group had different levels of creative thinking ability. The results of this study indicate that each group has a different level of creative thinking ability. There are two groups that have the ability to think creatively at level 3 (creative) which is indicated by the fulfillment of two components of creative thinking ability, namely fluency and flexibility. Meanwhile, one other group has a level of creative thinking ability in the quite creative category (level 2) which only fulfills one component of creative thinking ability, namely flexibility.

Abstract

Minat baca adalah salah satu aspek vital dalam proses pendidikan. Minat baca memberikan dampak positif dalam pembelajaran dan pengembangan kognitif siswa. Minat baca siswa akan tumbuh jika siswa nyaman dalam kegiatan membaca. Misalnya, tersedianya ruang baca yang nyaman dan tersedianya berbagai macam buku bacaan. Namun, ada beberapa sekolah yang fasilitas ruang bacanya masih minim dan koleksi bukunya masih terbatas. Penulis tertarik untuk mengembangkan perpustakaan digital di MTs. Nurul Hikmah Surabaya karena luas ruang perpustakaan MTs. Nurul Hikmah Surabaya hanya 6.25 m2 sehingga hanya bisa menampung sedikit buku dan rata-rata koleksi bukunya terbitan lama. Kondisi tersebut menjadi salah satu penyebab rendahnya minat baca siswa di MTs. Nurul Hikmah Surabaya. Dengan adanya perpustakaan digital siswa MTs. Nurul Hikmah Surabaya dapat mengakses buku bacaan apa saja, dimana saja, dan kapan saja. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk merancang dan mengimplementasikan sistem perpustakaan digital di MTs. Nurul Hikmah Surabaya untuk menunjang peningkatan minat baca siswa. Dari sistem perpustakaan digital yang dikembangkan diperoleh bahwa terjadi peningkatan jumlah pengunjung dengan rata-rata 4 siswa tiap minggunya. Melalui perpustakaan digital juga diperoleh bahwa kategori buku Matematika yang paling banyak dibaca atau dipinjam siswa.

Abstract

The era of globalization affects the world of education including student behavior, this is reflected in the decline in the attitudes or characters of school students at MTs Al Karimi 1 Gresik, far from the culture of Islamic boarding schools in the previous generation. To overcome these problems, community service activities aim to develop teacher professionalism through the application of integrated science and Islamic learning by being implemented in the form of interactive training and mentoring involving MTs Al Karimi 1 Gresik teachers. The method of community service activities with the ICARE model (Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection and Extend) is structured and systematic with the stages of introducing concepts, connecting with teaching experience, preparing learning plans, reflection and independent application in class. The results of the evaluation of community service activities show that teachers' understanding of the application of integrated science and Islamic learning has a positive impact and is able to prepare contextual learning plans and teachers are confident and consistent in implementing integrated science and Islamic learning. The findings of this community service activity show the importance of sustainable activities and follow-up with the learning community to develop sustainable learning, especially schools in Islamic boarding schools.
