Abstract

Vocabulary considered one of the important things to learn for students, the vocabulary is basic thing that students must be mastered in foreign language lessons, especially in English. Without vocabulary students will have difficulty in mastering skills in English such as writing, reading, listening and speaking. Therefore, it is very important to find out the solution to enhance students’ vocabulary. The objective of the research is to find out whether or not using Jumbled letters can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru and to find out whether or not using Crossword puzzle can improve the students vocabulary of the tenth grade students in MAN 2 Barru. This research applied quasi-experimental group design with two groups experimental and control class. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru in academic year 2018/2019. The Total sample of the research was taken by using clustering random sampling which consisted of 141 students. From two classes taken from the population of the tenth grade students of MAN 2 Barru, X MIA 1 as the experimental class consisted 29 students and X MIA 3 as the control class that consisted 29 students. The result of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference of students’ vocabulary before and after teaching vocabulary through jumbled word letters. The value of t-test pre-test 2.09 was higher than t-table 2.000, and the value of post-test 4.62 was higher than t-table 2.000, at the level significance a =0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 56. It can be concluded that jumbled word letters can enhance the vocabulary of the tenth grade students’ of MAN 2 Barru

Abstract

English teaching is a process that the teacher interacts with students. Asking and answering are the primary ways to communicate with each other, so questioning plays a central role in classroom. It urges students to think actively and develops their creative thinking. Because of the importance of questions to the research process, one of the things a teacher at a university tries to teach students is how to ask good questions, and how to answer them appropriately. This makes the process of questioning important in every class taught at a university. Questions are important to the students in a class for two reasons: (1) Students learn to ask questions by asking questions. Students learn to ask good questions by asking questions and then receiving feedback on them. Abstract

The development of technology is one of the factors that participate in influencing the behavior of students in learning. In this study, the author tries to create an interesting learning media for students and can be used not only during class hours but wherever and whenever they can access it. One of the media that can be used is E-book. This study uses Research and Development using the ADDIE Model. The population and sample of this study were Nursing Students STIKES YAPIKA Makassar in the 2020/2021 academic year. The development procedure is divided into five stages, namely 1) Analysis stage in the form of literature study and field study and needs analysis, 2) Design stage, 3) Development stage, 4) Implementation stage and 5) Evaluation stage. Research data were collected using documentation and questionnaires which were analyzed descriptively and inferential statistics through SPSS version 22 for Windows. It is hoped that from the results of this study, lecturers can apply or use learning media that are in accordance with the times, namely E-books that can be accessed by students not only in class but anywhere and anytime. Abstract

As the application of the four competencies for the lecturers in teaching and learning, it becomes a new business for them to fulfill those competencies (pedagogical, professional, personality, social). This has an impact on the provision of a new method for students in learning activities so that a lecturer would be able to develop a curriculum in accordance with the respective educational unit and the local needs of each student. The first pedagogical competence deals with the ability of a lecturer in managing the classroom and facilitates the students’ diversity. Sometimes lecturers apply different pedagogic actions with students' perceptions so that what is they supposed good by lecturers sometimes inversely with students’ intake. The aim of this study was to facilitate the perception of the students in regard to the pedagogical competence of a good lecturer. The result supposed to be some consideration from the lecturer in applied pedagogical action in the classroom.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the students' perception of using Edmodo in writing subjects by students of the English Department, Muhammadiyah University of Parepare. This study was also conducted to find out the importance of knowing how the students write properly and correctly according to the writing instructions applied to the Writing Subject of the Department of English, University of Muhammadiyah Parepare based on student perceptions. This study uses a mix methode with a design carried out with students. The population in this study is the students of Department of English, Muhammadiyah University of Parepare. The respondents of this study consisted of eight respondents. In addition, researchers conducted interviews and questionnaires to obtain data. The results of this study indicate that the use of edmodo in distance learning is very effective because edmodo is supported by features that are already in it and is also effective in keeping the class running. However, this application does not support synchronous or face-to-face learning so that there are still shortcomings so students and teachers still have to use other applications to complete the technical learning.

Abstract

In student perceptions, researchers found several things such as the ease of communicating, interacting, obtaining information, and flexibility in accessing learning materials. However, in this case students do not support the use of the Google Classroom application during learning because it is only for collecting assignments during online classes. In addition, the teacher's perception also has the same results as students. Researchers found several points of teacher perception such as the ease of presenting teaching materials, communication and information, and the ease of using gadgets. However, the teacher received complaints from students regarding the application of Google Classroom, such as a lack of understanding of the material being taught, the student's laziness factor, and constraints on quotas during learning and as for the distribution of special questionnaries for students, most students did not really like the application of Google Classroom in the learning process. shows that the learning media does not affect student learning motivation at SMP Negeri 1 Parepare, especially in class V.III.10 seen from the response of the teacher who said that there was a decrease in enthusiasm for learning when the use of the Google Classroom Application was added without the support and supervision of parents so that it makes students more lazy to take part in the teaching and learning process online. Therefore the use of Google Classroom does not affect students' learning motivation.The results of research on student and teacher perceptions of the application of Google Classroom show that learning is implemented using Google Classroom is not optimal and not optimal so it does not affect student learning motivation which raises several student perceptions of the application of learning media using Google Classroom media.

Abstract

This research was conducted to obtain the Indonesian Students’ Perception on Communication Language in the International Credit Transfer Program. This research also conducted to obtain the Cultural Study in the International Credit Transfer Program based on the students’ perception. This research used Qualitative Descriptive by design conducted with students. The population of this research is the students of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Parepare who have joined the International Credit Transfer Program in Tarlac Agriculture University in Phillipines. The respondents of this research consist of three respondents. In addition, the researcher conducted interview and questionnaire to obtain the data. The result of this research showed that the students’ have some various perception of this program that discussed about communication language and cultural study based on the result of interview and questionnaire. English language is the efficient tool of communication in this program based on the result of questionnaire. It is because English the international language that used to unity all people in this world in communication language. Besides, the result of this research also showed that students’ perception toward the importance of cultural study that discuss about the culture, traditions, habits, dialect and learning method. It is because, it can help the students to make a differences between foreign culture and our local culture to make them proud with our culture and plays an important role in learning process for students themselves.

Abstract

The creativity of a teacher in the classroom is very important because it describes the personality of a good teacher, it can also be liked by many people and even by the students being taught. In teaching English, English vocabulary is very important to master in improving fluency in speaking English, increasing understanding and also helping to improve student achievement. The purpose of this study is to determine the creativity of teachers in teaching students' vocabulary, and to determine the effect of teacher creativity on students' vocabulary mastery. Researchers used qualitative research with the case study method. The sample of this research was 1 English teacher and 8 students at 7th grade students. The research instruments in this research were observation, interviews and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of the analysis of the data in this study showed good results between the creativity carried out by the teacher in teaching in class. This is evidenced by the creativity that the teacher always does when learning takes place, the teacher sometimes gives games while learning, gives vocabulary to students to memorize, students are encouraged to use English in class at every meeting, the teacher also always motivates students to always learn English. The increase in English vocabulary is evidenced by how often students use English in class and use English when students meet the teacher.

Abstract

Technology in the learning process can assist in providing teaching materials to students, making it easier for students, teachers, and parents to react whenever and wherever they are; facilitate and assist in the preparation of materials sourced from the internet; as well as assist in simulating, visualizing the learning process in a structured, processed, and scientific manner. This research analyzed the student's need to develop the mobile application. This research used the steps in the combined research and development (RD) and analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (ADDIE) models. The study was conducted in Makassar, and the research subject was the students at Junior High School, with 100 randomly selected participants. The data were analyzed descriptively using interviews, observations, and participant questionnaires. The result showed that students need applications containing material that is easier to understand, using audio or video using Indonesian speakers, and interactive exercises so the students can improve their speaking skills. Based on the results of the questionnaire, the researcher synergized the school's existing curriculum with the needs analysis (N.A.) carried out by the researcher so that the results of this study would benefit the English as a foreign language (EFL) young learners, teachers, and stakeholders.

Abstract

This study investigates the challenges faced by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in developing interactive teaching materials for senior high school students. A qualitative approach was adopted, using a questionnaire distributed to 11 EFL teachers in senior high schools in Makassar. The questionnaire explored their experiences, challenges, and needs in developing interactive teaching materials. The findings reveal significant challenges, including limited access to technology, time constraints, and insufficient training. There are some recommendations that include in this study namely enhancing professional development programs, increasing access to resources, and addressing administrative workloads to enable teachers to create more engaging and effective materials.
