Abstract

Abstract

Power politics is a sovereign entity that aims to protect the interests of individuals and groups. The disharmony of Islamic politics triggered by stigma, discrimination, and persecution of the authorities against the people causes radicalism and intolerance of the concept of the state. Hizbut Tahrir, with textual interpretation dominatingly intervened by ideological reasoning, produced controversial sectarian revivalist thoughts, far from the universal message of the verse and its maqāṣidī meaning. This study examines the concept of power politics in the Quran through the theological analysis of the khilāfah in al-Wa'ie. The method used in this study includes a descriptive-qualitative analysis of mauḍū'ī interpretation through a context and content approach. This study concludes that the power politics of scripturalist, textualist, and fundamentalist interpretations in al-Wa'ie is far from authoritative (mu'tabar) scholars' thoughts or interpreted by jumping to conclusions, such as in solving al-Baqarah [2]: 30, al-Nisā' [4]: 59, and al-Mā'idah [5]: 49. The verses of the power politics clearly state that the khilāfah is an institution of civilization within state sovereignty, not a political conception that is taken for granted that negates Islam or a modern Islamic government system that substantially contains the principles of siyāsah and maqāṣid al-syāri'ah.

Abstract

Perjalanan panjang tafsir Al-Qur'an di Bugis dimulai sejak era KH. H Yunus Martan, AG. H Abdullah Pabbaja AG. H Hamzah Manguluang, AG. H. Daud Ismail dan AG. H Mu’in Yusuf.

Abstract

Abstract

This study attempts to reread Al-Ghazali's Tahafut al-Falasifah not merely as a theological polemic text, but as a critique of scientific paradigms that has profound relevance to modern philosophy of science. Al-Ghazali's critique of rationalist claims, particularly regarding causality, the eternity of the world, and the limitations of reason, is positioned as an attempt to shake the established epistemic foundations of his time. A qualitative-comparative approach is used by analyzing the primary text of Tahafut hermeneutically, then connecting it with the thoughts of modern philosophers such as David Hume, Karl Popper, and Thomas Kuhn. The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali had already presented an epistemological awareness that aligns with the discourse of the paradigm shift in science. He emphasized that causal relationships are not absolute certainties, but rather habits that can change according to transcendental will. This perspective finds resonance in the development of contemporary science, particularly in quantum physics and the philosophy of science, which emphasize the tentative nature of knowledge. Furthermore, Al-Ghazali's paradigm critique also carries ethical implications: knowledge must always be based on moral values and spiritual awareness to avoid being trapped in scientific arrogance. Thus, Tahafut al-Falasifah can be understood as a laboratory for epistemological criticism that remains relevant for building a paradigm of modern science that is humble, reflective, and humanity-oriented. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating revelation, reason, and science in formulating a new direction for Islamic philosophy and its contribution to the global discourse on the philosophy of science.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the paradigm of ecotheology as a response to the global ecological crisis rooted in anthropocentrism and the secularization of the relationship between humans and nature. The research employs a qualitative method using a literature review approach and hermeneutical analysis of Islamic theological sources, particularly the concepts of cosmic tawhid, khalifah (stewardship), mīzān (balance), the prohibition of fasād (corruption/destruction), and ihsan (moral excellence). The findings indicate that an ideal ecotheological paradigm should be developed through the integration of spiritual awareness, ecological ethics, and sustainable social praxis. Ecotheology functions not merely as an environmental ethic, but as an epistemological foundation and civilizational orientation that affirms the interconnectedness of humans, nature, and God. The resulting operational model of ecotheology positions spirituality as the basis of ecological consciousness, ethics as moral regulation, and ecological action as its concrete implementation in social life.

Abstract

This article examines the role of Muhammadiyah in fostering a balanced economic order, tracing its trajectory from puritanical reasoning toward religious moderation. Muhammadiyah’s religious vision serves as a form of social capital that strengthens food security initiatives. This study is a library-based inquiry employing a philosophical–historical–critical approach. The chosen analytical framework is functionalism, which emphasizes impact and explores the interrelations between religious functions and work ethic. Within this framework, functionalism observes how Muhammadiyah’s puritanism is transformed into economic consciousness, ultimately producing concrete achievements through its charitable enterprises. The findings reveal that Muhammadiyah’s puritanism is dynamic rather than static. Its puritan impulses operate more actively in the social sphere than in the theological one. Its rejection of certain rituals and traditions reflects a refusal of inefficiency. Conversely, Muhammadiyah’s moderation strengthens ethos and action, cultivating balance between worldly and spiritual life, between the physical and the metaphysical, and between spiritual and material pursuits. For Muhammadiyah, the interpretation of Qur’anic verses is assessed through practice and the benefits they generate. This pragmatic religious orientation aligns with the character of urban Muslims and represents a geo-spiritual approach that contributes to social mobility within the community.
