Abstract

Single phase induction motors are one of the most frequently used types of motors because of their economical, sturdy, simple and easy maintenance advantages. One application is for electric vehicles. When single phase induction motors are applied to electric vehicles there are problems related to torque regulation based on vehicle operating conditions where when operating on light road conditions the torque produced by the motor remains high. In this research, a single-phase induction motor was made to have the same proportion of torque produced by the main coil and auxiliary coil or a 1kW 1000 rpm symmetrical two-phase induction motor. The type of winding applied to the stator is divided screws with the main and auxiliary coils each occupying 18 stator slots, 45 conductors per slots,, with a conductor diameter of 1.2 mm. As a phase shifter at start and operation so that they differ by 90°, a capacitance of 505.51 µF is used. As a result of the winding modification, the induction motor parameter values for each stator winding are the same. So the starting torque of the main and auxiliary coils is 3.89 Nm and 3.88 Nm respectively and the nominal torque produced by the main and auxiliary coils is 4.28 Nm and 4.29 Nm respectively.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The single-phase induction motor is one of the most widely used electric motors. Under certain conditions, the induction motor needs to be rewinded on the coil. The rewinding process must determine the number of poles, the type of winding, the dimensions of the conductor, and the number of turns. Generally, when carrying out the rewinding process, the winding type is not given much special attention. Where each type of winding produces a different magnetomotive force (mmf). This will result in different fluxes resulting in different parameter values for single-phase induction motors. In this study, a comparison of the parameters of an induction motor with the same construction and with different winding types will be carried out. The first motor (M1) is of the screw-shared winding type and the second motor (M2) is of the distributed concentrated winding type. The test results show a difference in the reactance value where M1 the reactance values of the stator and rotor coils are 5.71 Ω and 5.71 Ω, respectively, while in M2 the stator and rotor reactance values are 5.98 Ω and 5.98 Ω, respectively. The difference in reactance values was carried out by finite element analysis using FEMM 4.2.

Abstract

The increasing demand for electrical energy, driven by population growth and industrial development, necessitates efficient and sustainable power distribution systems. Transformers, essential components of these systems, typically use mineral oil for insulation and cooling, despite its environmental drawbacks, such as high carbon emissions and non-biodegradability. In response, natural ester oils have emerged as eco-friendly alternatives. This study aimed to compare the dielectric breakdown voltage characteristics of mineral oil (Diala B) and natural ester oil (FR3) in transformer applications. The testing followed the IEC 60156 standard, focusing on transformers operating at 20 kV, with a minimum breakdown voltage threshold of 30 kV/2.5mm. Both treated and untreated samples were examined. The results indicated that FR3 ester oil exhibited superior dielectric properties, including higher breakdown voltage, flashpoint, and firepoint, as well as lower carbon emissions compared to mineral oil. These findings suggest that natural ester oil has significant potential as a sustainable replacement for mineral oil, particularly in applications where environmental and safety concerns are prioritized. The study recommends further long-term testing under operational conditions to confirm the performance and stability of ester oil in real-world transformer applications. These findings contribute to the growing body of research supporting the transition to more environmentally friendly transformer insulation materials, which could have broad implications for the power industry’s sustainability efforts

Abstract

This study presents common problems of Sufi texts’ interpretation by orientalists, with a specific emphasis on the Annemarie Schimmel’s works. The primary purpose of this study is to uncover biases and limitations that may reside in Schimmel's approach to Sufism and to pave the way for a more reflective and contextual approach in Islamic studies. This work employs a philosophical hermeneutic approach developed by Hans-Georg Gadamer. The primary data source comes from Schimmel's works on Sufism, while secondary data are obtained from academic literature related to hermeneutics, Orientalism, and the study of Sufism. The results of the study show that Schimmel's understanding of Sufi texts is influenced by her prejudices and understandings as an orientalist. Schimmel's "casting fusion" process produces a rich interpretation but is not free from inherent bias. In conclusion, this study has revealed essential dimensions in the hermeneutics of Sufi texts studied by Schimmel and the emphasis on the need for more critical and reflective cross-cultural dialogue to understand the Islamic spiritual tradition more deeply.

Abstract

This study examines the Qur'anic perspectives on interfaith relations in the contemporary world, emphasizing the relevance of its principles in addressing modern pluralistic societies. Islam, as a divinely revealed religion, acknowledges the existence of other faiths while upholding the theological stance that Islam is the only religion approved by Allah. The Qur'an recognizes religious diversity as part of divine will and explicitly rejects coercion in matters of belief, positioning the prophets solely as conveyors of God's message. Employing a thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhui), this study systematically collects and analyzes Qur'anic verses related to interfaith relations. This method enables a structured and comprehensive understanding of key principles such as tolerance, peace, equality, deliberation, and justice. The analysis reveals that the Qur'an promotes peaceful coexistence and ethical engagement with non-Muslims while maintaining doctrinal exclusivity in matters of faith (aqidah). Theoretically, this study enriches discussions on Qur'anic hermeneutics by contextualizing interfaith themes within contemporary realities. Practically, it offers insights for policymakers, religious leaders, and scholars seeking to promote constructive interfaith engagement based on Islamic teachings. Contribution: The findings contribute to contemporary Islamic discourse by demonstrating how Qur'anic principles can serve as a foundational framework for fostering interreligious dialogue and social harmony in an era of increasing global religious diversity.

Abstract

The substation played a vital role in the distribution of electrical power from the generator to end users, requiring a reliable protection system to ensure continuity and safety. At the 150 kV Lengkong Substation, the existing busbar protection system used an electromechanical high impedance relai, which lacked the sensitivity, selectivity, and reliability demanded by current operational standards. This research aimed to improve the reliability of the substation’s protection system by replacing the high impedance relai with a digital low impedance numerical relai (GE P746). The method involved direct field observation, data collection, and system testing, including individual relai tests, functional evaluations, and differential current calculations. Tap settings and wiring integration were adjusted to accommodate the new relai's configuration and performance standards issued by PT PLN (Persero) UIT JBB. The findings showed that the new relai functioned well in normal operation, block trip, and block all modes. The differential current (Idiff) calculations at Busbar 1 and Busbar 2 yielded 9.32 A and 28.25 A respectively—both well below the 80 A protection threshold, indicating system stability and correct operation. These results confirmed that the upgraded relai system operated within the safe zone and did not trigger false trips. This study highlighted the necessity of modernizing protection systems across substations and recommended further integration with digital communication protocols such as IEC 61850 to enhance future grid reliability and responsiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of religious moderation in shaping interfaith relations in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research investigates how state policies and community-based initiatives contribute to social harmony and interfaith cooperation. It also seeks to identify the challenges each country faces in promoting religious moderation and its impact on Muslim-Christian interactions. The research employs a qualitative comparative approach, incorporating in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and focus group discussions with religious leaders, government officials, and interfaith activists. Data collection was conducted in key regions with diverse religious populations, including Yogyakarta and Surabaya in Indonesia, as well as Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in Malaysia. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns in religious moderation practices and their influence on interfaith harmony. The study finds that Malaysia’s religious moderation is actively supported by government policies, resulting in a more structured and dynamic interfaith environment. The National Unity Blueprint and other pluralism-oriented initiatives have contributed to stronger cooperation among religious communities. In contrast, Indonesia’s religious moderation efforts remain largely formal and symbolic, facing cultural resistance, particularly in rural areas. Limited local government support and socio-historical tensions further hinder effective interfaith engagement in Indonesia. The findings underscore the importance of government involvement in shaping interfaith harmony. The study suggests that Indonesia could benefit from adopting a more structured approach to religious moderation, integrating state-backed policies with grassroots engagement. The research also highlights the role of religious education and interfaith dialogue in reducing social tensions and fostering inclusive religious pluralism. This research contributes a novel comparative perspective on religious moderation by systematically analyzing policies and their social impact in two multicultural nations. Unlike previous studies that focus solely on qualitative descriptions, this study incorporates empirical insights into the effectiveness of religious moderation policies in fostering interfaith harmony. The findings provide valuable recommendations for policymakers and religious leaders in designing more effective pluralism strategies to enhance interfaith cooperation.
