Abstract

The effective experiential learning type is role playing, where children play roles in presenting social or psychological problems to understand and develop skills in problem-solving. The purpose of this study is to understand the application of the role playing method on the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at Al-Mizan Islamic Elementary School in Surabaya regarding the application of Pancasila values in the family environment. The method used in this study is qualitative. Data collection techniques include tests, observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses qualitative data analysis with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that 81.25% reached the very good category with 13 students, 12.5% reached the good category with 2 students, and 6.25% reached the sufficient category with 1 student. Although there were some difficulties in the learning process, those 16 students are still considered complete because they have demonstrated good ability and understanding. It can be concluded that the learning process has been effective in improving the abilities and understanding of the students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model based on differentiated learning on students' critical thinking. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (nonequivalent control group design). The population of the study is all 4th-grade students of SDN Pakis V Surabaya for the 2024/2025 academic year, with sample selection using purposive sampling based on students' ability levels (high, medium, low). The research instruments include pretest and posttest questions to measure critical thinking abilities, as well as observation sheets to observe the implementation of learning. The validity of the instruments was tested by expert validators, and reliability was tested using Cronbach's Alpha. Normality and homogeneity tests were also conducted before data analysis using the T-test. The research results indicate a significant effect of the application of the PBL model based on differentiated learning on students' critical thinking. The integration of the PBL model with differentiated learning has proven to be effective in enhancing critical thinking skills among 4th-grade students, particularly in Mathematics. This approach allows for personalized learning, activation of cognitive schemas, active knowledge construction, and metacognitive reflection, which are crucial for facing the challenges of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the former localization environment on the personality development of students at Rahmat Elementary School, Surabaya. The social environment previously known as a localization area has the potential to have a negative influence on the formation of children's character, especially in aspects of behavior, emotions, and social interactions. The research method used was observation and interviews with students in grades IV and V. The results of the study showed that some students tended to be easily influenced by the environment, had difficulty controlling their emotions, lacked self-confidence, and showed signs of psychological stress. However, there were also students who had moral resilience and were able to maintain a positive attitude. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of the role of schools, teachers, and parents in minimizing the negative impact of the environment and strengthening the formation of children's personalities positively.
