Abstract

Success in implementing occupational safety and health in the workplace depends largely on the level of knowledge, understanding and awareness of workers. This is reflected in the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working. The more disciplined workers are in using PPE, the better the implementation of K3 at the job site. The purpose of this program is to increase the awareness of workers in the Sesulu village oil palm plantation on the importance of using PPE while working, so that occupational safety and health can be realized properly. This activity will be held on July 25-26, 2023, located in the oil palm plantation area of Sesulu village, Waru District, North Penajam Paser Utara. The approach used is the provision of education and counseling to workers. The form of implementation consists of providing material, discussion, evaluation and providing PPE as a form of concern for the importance of implementing K3. This program is expected to have a positive impact and be able to raise awareness in maintaining and maintaining K3

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Tombang Tujuah Loge ASGM Cooperative operates in the field of Artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) and produces fine gold. The Exploitation and Fine Gold Refinery Process involves direct interaction of workers with equipment and the environment in a production situation that has quite a high safety risk. The research aims to identify the type or source of danger, determine the high-risk value, and take appropriate risk control measures. The method used is Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to identify failures in facilities, systems, or equipment that have an impact on work accidents. The research results show that the highest risk is the danger of landslides at mining sites (RPN: 120) and exposure to dangerous chemicals in Fine Gold Refinery Process activities (RPN: 112). The results of data processing using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) provide recommendations, namely (1) Landslide Early Detection System; (2) Incinerator; and (3) Use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Abstract

Globally, over 250 million workplace accidents and 160 million work-related illnesses occur annually, with 1.2 million resulting in deaths. In Indonesia, CVD is the leading cause of illness-related fatalities, driven by factors like hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia. PT XYZs parent company reported 19 such deaths in 2021, mostly from CVD. In response, Zone Xs Health Team launched the SEAGU Wellness Program to promote healthy lifestyles. This study aims to conduct research using secondary data obtained from the SEAGU 2.0 Wellness Program. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with secondary data from 153 workers annual Medical Check-Up records. Post-program results showed a reduction in dyslipidemia cases from 45 to 23 and obesity cases from 52 to 27a drop of over 50%. To improve sustainability, activities like group exercise and Health Talks should be held more frequently with stronger participant engagement.

Abstract

The initiative to process coconut shell charcoal emerged as some farmers began selling coconuts as copra, leaving the shells available for charcoal production. However, further processing into coconut shell charcoal briquettes—which offer higher economic value—remains limited. Twelfth-grade high school students (aged 17–19) are in a transitional phase toward employment or higher education, requiring the provision of practical skills. A skills training program on coconut charcoal briquette production was held in January 2025 at SMA Karya Pengalihan Keritang, involving 40 students. The training included hands-on briquette making and business economic analysis. This activity aimed to provide entrepreneurial experience and enhance job readiness. The expected impact is that participants will recognize the economic potential of briquette production as a viable business opportunity, given the high profit margins between production costs and market prices.

Abstract

Fire and explosion incidents at oil refineries in Indonesia pose serious threats to community safety, environmental sustainability, and economic stability. These risks highlight the need for a comprehensive evaluation of safe distance standards between fuel storage facilities and nearby residential areas. This study aims to assess the safe distance of thermal radiation exposure resulting from a tank fire (pool fire) scenario using the ALOHA (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) simulation software, as well as to develop risk mitigation recommendations for surrounding communities. A quantitative, non-experimental approach was employed, utilizing secondary data from PT X and relevant literature. Simulation results indicate that areas within 32 meters of the ISO-6L T-2018 tank are exposed to thermal radiation levels of 6.31 kW/m², a level capable of causing skin burns, with residential settlements located within this zone. Thermal radiation exposure at 6.31 kW/m² may lead to first- to second-degree burns, property damage, long-term health issues, and psychological impacts on residents. Preventive measures and emergency response plans must therefore be developed and implemented to minimize risks and impacts, including community relocation, installation of thermal barriers, safety education, regular radiation monitoring, adoption of control technologies, and enhancement of emergency response infrastructure.
