Abstract

Abstract

The use of perfume is a necessity in daily life for many individuals. Perfume compositions rely on essential oils, categorized into top, middle, and base notes, which differ based on the volatility and specific gravity of the oils used. The essential oil of medang pirawas leaves (Litsea elliptica Blume), rich in terpineol (23.36%), is known for its distinct aroma and is used in perfumes. This study aimed to evaluate the physical properties and preference levels of perfume formulations made with Litsea elliptica essential oil. The oil was extracted via steam distillation and analyzed using GC-MS. A base formula (F0) combined Litsea elliptica and lavender essential oils, with variations incorporating sweet orange (F1), lemon (F2), lime (F3), and bergamot (F4) essential oils. Physical tests included specific gravity (0.7–1.2), stain tests on tissue, HVS, and filter paper, and aroma longevity (>240 minutes). Preference tests were conducted with 30 respondents. All formulations met specific gravity standards and showed no staining. F4 was the only formulation that satisfied aroma longevity requirements, while F1 was the most preferred. Statistical analysis using SPSS 26 revealed data normality for specific gravity and aroma longevity. Paired Sample T-Tests showed significant effects of citrus essential oils on specific gravity (p = 0.01) but not on aroma longevity (p = 0.638). In conclusion, the formulations met physical property standards beside aroma longevity which only F4 excelled at and F1 being the most favored by respondents. The addition of citrus essential oils had a significant impact on the specific gravity, but not for the aroma longevity.

Abstract

Salah satu tanaman potensial yang berasal dari Pulau Kalimantan adalah Litsea elliptica Blume di mana daunnya mengandung minyak atsiri. Minyak atsiri dari Litsea elliptica Blume juga mengandung terpineol dan undecanol yang memiliki aroma menarik sehingga sering digunakan dalam komposisi parfum. Selain minyak atsiri Litsea, penelitian ini juga menggunakan kombinasi minyak atsiri lavender dan minyak atsiri Cajuputi dalam formulasi minyak gosok dengan tujuan untuk mengevaluasi hasil analisis fisika, serta uji hedonik dari sediaan minyak gosok. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan civitas akademika STIKes IKIFA sebagai responsi uji hedonik. Formula dibagi menjadi 2 jenis, yaitu formula LL (Litsea + Lavender) dan formula LC (Litsea + Cajuputi) di mana tiap formula memiliki 3 sub formula dengan perbedaan pada perbandingan kombinasi minyak atsiri & bahan dasar yang dipakai yaitu menthol, camphora dan virgin coconut oil sebagai base. Pengujian Organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa baik formula LC atau formula LL menunjukkan aroma khas dari minyak atsiri masing - masing. Seluruh minyak gosok berwarna bening kekuningan, dengan rasa panas di kulit saat digunakan & sediaan berbentuk jernih & homogen. Pada pengujian keasaman, seluruh formula memiliki pH 5 di mana pH tersebut memenuhi syarat pH kulit yaitu 4,2-6,5. Uji hedonik dilakukan kepada 5 kategori, yaitu aroma, warna, rasa, kejernihan serta formula mana yang secara keseluruhan paling disukai. Hasilnya menunjukkan formula LL1 merupakan formula dengan aroma dan warna paling disukai dengan persentase 53% dan 42%. Formula LC1 merupakan formula yang paling disukai dari segi rasa. Formula LL2 merupakan formula yang kejernihannya paling disukai dengan 56%. Sedangkan LL3 merupakan formula paling disukai secara keseluruhan dengan persentase 33,33%.

Abstract

spa yang dinamis dengan efek gelembung (fizz), sekaligus berfungsi membersihkan, merelaksasi, dan menyehatkan kulit karena dalam formula bath salt menggunakan pengaroma sintetis. Namun, seiring meningkatnya kesadaran konsumen terhadap keamanan produk, penggunaan aroma sintetis menjadi perhatian karena potensi bahayanya bagi tubuh dan lingkungan. Menjawab tantangan ini, kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berfokus pada pemanfaatan minyak esensial alami sebagai alternatif pengaroma yang lebih aman, khususnya kombinasi minyak esensial dari daun litsea (mengandung terpineol dengan bau khas), bunga Lavender (mengandung linalool), dan jeruk manis (mengandung limonen). Penggunaan minyak esensial alami tidak hanya meningkatkan nilai estetika, tetapi juga memberikan manfaat seperti relaksasi dan peningkatan mood tanpa risiko efek samping berbahaya dari pengaroma sintetis. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan mengedukasi 15 Kader PKK RW 008 Kelurahan Klender, Jakarta Timur, mengenai produk bath salt dan cara pembuatannya. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penetapan formula bath salt dengan bahan-bahan kering (natrium karbonat, asam sitrat, magnesium sulfat, tepung maizena, pewarna) dan bahan cair (minyak kelapa murni/vco, minyak esensial, air), pengujian produk, serta evaluasi pemahaman peserta melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta yang signifikan, di mana total rata-rata jawaban benar mengalami kemajuan yang positif. Peningkatan paling nyata terlihat pada Pertanyaan 2 mengenai bahan utama yang bereaksi menghasilkan gelembung gas (dari 47% menjadi 93%). Lebih lanjut, uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai signifikansi p=0.019, yang mengkonfirmasi bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan secara statistik antara nilai pre-test dan post-test. Dengan demikian, intervensi edukasi dan demonstrasi yang diterapkan berhasil secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman Kader PKK terhadap pembuatan produk bath salt dengan menggunakan pengaroma minyak esensial alami

Abstract

Kalimantan Island is an area with forests that can be developed for potential results, especially in plants with medicinal properties for health. The medicinal properties of plants are the role of the secondary metabolites contained in them. One of them is Litsea, a plant that comes from the Lauraceae family with 45 genera and more than 2,000 species. Plants from this genus are widely used by the community as traditional medicine, especially Litsea elliptica. One of the secondary metabolite contents of Litsea elliptica is flavonoids. The aim of this research was to determine the flavonoid content of Litsea elliptica leaf extract. The extraction process was carried out by maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. The results of the maceration extraction are then carried out by evaporation until a thick extract is obtained. The total flavonoid content was determined using the Colorimetric-Aluminum Chloride Method with a UV-Vis spectrophotometric instrument, resulting in a total flavonoid content of Litsea elliptica leaf extract of 391.01 mg ± 0.27 mg. The conclusion of this research is that Litsea elliptica leaf extract has a flavonoid content of 0.39%

Abstract

Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) are herbal plants known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and phenolics, which have potential as natural antioxidants and can be utilized in the development of herbal-based pharmaceutical preparations. This study aimed to determine the organoleptic characteristics and the total flavonoid content of 96% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves. The extraction process was carried out using the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent on 1 kg of fresh Moringa leaves. The leaves were dried into simplicia powder weighing 126.22 g, then macerated for 3 days with stirring every 24 hours. The filtrate was evaporated using a rotary evaporator at 40°C to obtain a thick extract, yielding 7.01% with a native DER value of 14.26. The organoleptic characteristics showed that the extract had the typical odor of Moringa leaves, a bitter taste, and a greenish-brown color. The determination of flavonoid content was conducted using the aluminium chloride colorimetric method with quercetin as the standard, and measurements were performed at a maximum wavelength of 450 nm. The calibration curve showed a linear relationship between quercetin concentration and absorbance with the regression equation y = 0.0163x – 0.0789 and R² = 0.9986. The analysis results showed that the total flavonoid content of the 96% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves was 1203.78 ± 2.98 mg/100 g. With its high flavonoid content, Moringa leaf extract has the potential to be developed as a natural antioxidant in herbal-based pharmaceutical formulations.

Abstract

AbstrakKelompok Asuhan Mandiri (Asman) Toga Berseri RW.008 di Kelurahan Klender, Jakarta Timur, memiliki potensi besar dalam pemanfaatan tanaman obat keluarga dalam bentuk produk minuman botanikal. Namun, produk tersebut terkendala dengan masa simpan singkat (2-7 hari) dan kemasan yang sederhana. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan nilai ekonomi dan daya saing produk melalui diversifikasi sediaan menjadi produk kering yang tahan lama dan kemasan yang lebih menarik. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) yang melibatkan 16 anggota mitra, meliputi materi penyuluhan Cara Produksi Pangan Olahan yang Baik (CPPOB), alih teknologi pengeringan menggunakan mesin food dehydrator, pelatihan pengemasan serta pendampingan komersialisasi. Evaluasi pengetahuan dilakukan menggunakan uji pre-test dan post-test yang dianalisis dengan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,874 (p>0,05), yang mengindikasikan tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada peningkatan pengetahuan kognitif secara umum, namun terdapat peningkatan pemahaman spesifik pada aspek konsep teknologi pengeringan dan standar kemasan hingga mencapai 100%. Secara praktik, mitra berhasil melakukan diversifikasi produk dengan mengubah minuman botanical dari bentuk cair menjadi bentuk kering. Penerapan teknologi ini meminimalisir risiko kerugian akibat kerusakan produk dan memperluas potensi jangkauan pemasaran. Kata kunci: diversifikasi produk; food dehydrator; masa simpan; tanaman obat keluarga. Abstract The Asman Toga Berseri group in RW.008, Klender Village, East Jakarta, has significant potential for the utilization of medicinal plants as botanical beverages. However, these products are limited by a short shelf life (2–7 days) and simple packaging. This community service activity aims to increase the economic value and competitiveness of the products through diversification into durable dry products and more attractive packaging. The implementation method employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 16 partners, which included counseling on Good Manufacturing Practices for Processed Food (CPPOB), technology transfer using a food dehydrator, packaging training, and commercialization assistance. Knowledge evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test, analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Statistical analysis results showed a significance value of 0.874 (p>0.05), indicating no significant difference in general cognitive knowledge improvement; however, there was a specific increase in understanding regarding drying technology concepts and packaging standards, reaching 100%. In practice, the partners successfully diversified their products by converting botanical drinks from liquid to dry forms. The application of this technology minimizes the risk of financial loss due to product spoilage and expands the potential marketing reach. Keywords: product diversification; food dehydrator; shelf life; family medicinal plants.
