Abstract

Abstract

This article aims to verify the critical elements in identifying factors for the change of small settlement centres due to overflow of the Klang-Langat Valley using the Exploration Factor Analysis (EFA) and Comfirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) approach. This study involved 355 respondents from Hulu Selangor, Selangor selected by random sampling technique. The Likert scale questionnaires 1 until 5 were used to obtain feedback. Overall, the questionnaire reached the level of reliability with Alpha Cronbach value for each construct greater than 0.7. The collected data were processed through EFA for the grouping of the constructs and items for the change factor of small settlement centres. The CFA was done to verify the accumulated constructs based on their respective groups. The findings show that there are six constructs has been created which were access (5 items), environment (5 items), security (2 items), activity (4 items), neighbourhood (2 items) and infrastructure (2 items). Therefore, hopefully, the finding of this research can help in identifying factors to the transformation of small settlement centres due to the overflow of the Klang-Langat Valley and in the studies area in the transformation of small settlements. This is because the transformation driving a positive and negative impact on both urban and rural areas through increasing socioeconomic in society and ultimately contribute to the quality of life of the community in line with the current globalisation.

Abstract

Malaysia’s education development plan 2013-2025 promotes 21st-century learning. Instruction, learning, and school assistance are the key focus. This study selected Rompin State instructors to assess their 21st-century education ability, perspective, and application. The questionnaire was the main data-gathering tool in this quantitative investigation. Standard random sampling chose 152 school teachers. This study used Pearson correlation and t-test for descriptive and inferential analysis. The results showed reasonable knowledge, attitude, and practices (mean=2.95, standard deviation=0.22, 2.94, 0.23, 2.90, 0.29). The t-test showed significant differences in knowledge (t=-2.11, df=157, p 0.05) and attitude (t=-2.26, p 0.05) but not in practice (t=-1.81, p>0.05). Using Pearson correlation analysis, knowledge, and behaviors were moderately positively correlated (r=0.677, p<0.01), whereas attitudes and practices were strongly positively correlated (r=0.837, p<0.1). Teachers have modest knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Teachers must frequently take short courses to improve their 21st-century education. Mandatory authorities and scholars will help instructors professionally grasp 21st-century education. This study found that teachers with 21st-century education literacy can improve their knowledge, attitude, and practice and regularly apply it to their teaching.

Abstract

Lampung Province is categorized as a highly vulnerable area due to its proximity to the Indian Ocean, the Sunda Strait, and the volcanic activity of Anak Krakatau. This geographical setting poses significant adaptation challenges, particularly for Generation Z, a strategic age group in disaster mitigation. This study aims to examine the relationship between place of residence and tsunami disaster adaptation capacity among Generation Z, with a specific focus on geographical proximity to the Megathrust and Krakatau Volcano. A quantitative approach was employed through an online survey distributed to 261 students of the University of Lampung. Data were analyzed using descriptive non-inferential statistics and multiple linear regression. The results indicate variations in disaster literacy levels across regions, with the highest scores reported by respondents from Bekasi (100) and Prabumulih (98), while the lowest scores were observed in Musi Banyuasin (66.5) and Medan (69.67). However, regression analysis revealed that geographical distance from either the Megathrust or Krakatau had no significant effect on tsunami literacy (Sig. > 0.05). These findings highlight that distance is not the primary determinant; rather, disaster experience, access to information, education, and local policy play a more substantial role in shaping the preparedness of Generation Z. The study recommends integrating disaster literacy into higher education curricula and strengthening evacuation simulations as adaptive strategies

Abstract

This study aims to explore and evaluate the effects, contribution levels, and interrelationships of debate-based civic education on students’ critical thinking (CT), problem-solving (PS), and decision-making (DM) skills within the context of border conflict resolution simulations. The study employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method involving 120 participants whose competencies were assessed. Data were collected using open-ended tests and analyzed through inferential statistics, including simple linear regression, t-tests, R-square, and correlation analyses. The findings revealed that debate-based civic education significantly influenced critical thinking (R² = 21.5%), problem-solving (R² = 32.3%), and decision-making (R² = 18.6%). However, the correlations among the independent variables (CT, PS, and DM) were found to be weak. The results emphasize the applied importance of civic education practices in cultivating 21st-century skills among students in higher education institutions.
