Abstract

Indonesia's development must be connected to the important role of village empowerment and disaster resilience. Efforts to increase village empowerment and resilience to disasters have been carried out previously, especially in villages in East Rembang. Even so, there has yet to be an evaluation to measure its success. This research aims to evaluate and map village empowerment and resilience using research instruments consisting of aspects, indicators, sub-indicators, and questions regarding disasters in East Rembang. The four main stages of research include instrument development, measurements of empowered and disaster-resilient villages that have been carried out, mapping of measurement results, and based on recommendations. The data collection technique used is a document study with the data collection instrument, namely a document study sheet containing a scale for measuring village empowerment and disaster resilience. The village empowerment scale was developed based on geographic, government, population, social, agricultural, economic, and housing aspects. In contrast, the disaster-resilient village scale consists of six aspects that reflect the value of security from disasters, facilities, and mitigation efforts. This research shows seven categories of villages that are empowered and resilient to disasters. The three villages with the highest level of empowerment are Sluke, Sendangmulyo, and Kragan Villages in Sluke, Sarang, and Kragan Districts, respectively. Meanwhile, the three villages with the highest disaster resilience are Sanetan, Bendo and Langgar Villages, Sluke District.

Abstract

Malaysia’s education development plan 2013-2025 promotes 21st-century learning. Instruction, learning, and school assistance are the key focus. This study selected Rompin State instructors to assess their 21st-century education ability, perspective, and application. The questionnaire was the main data-gathering tool in this quantitative investigation. Standard random sampling chose 152 school teachers. This study used Pearson correlation and t-test for descriptive and inferential analysis. The results showed reasonable knowledge, attitude, and practices (mean=2.95, standard deviation=0.22, 2.94, 0.23, 2.90, 0.29). The t-test showed significant differences in knowledge (t=-2.11, df=157, p 0.05) and attitude (t=-2.26, p 0.05) but not in practice (t=-1.81, p>0.05). Using Pearson correlation analysis, knowledge, and behaviors were moderately positively correlated (r=0.677, p<0.01), whereas attitudes and practices were strongly positively correlated (r=0.837, p<0.1). Teachers have modest knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Teachers must frequently take short courses to improve their 21st-century education. Mandatory authorities and scholars will help instructors professionally grasp 21st-century education. This study found that teachers with 21st-century education literacy can improve their knowledge, attitude, and practice and regularly apply it to their teaching.

Environmental damage is a recurring issue in South Sulawesi. The community remains insufficiently aware of the importance of environmental conservation. One of the contributing factors is the lack of a character that values and loves the environment within the community. It is necessary to integrate local culture into environmental issues. Society should recognize that integrating knowledge and personal norms inherited from their ancestors can shape an environmentally friendly character. This research examines how Maudu Lompoa culture shapes an environmentally aware character among the followers. The research findings reveal that the formation of an environmentally aware character in Maudu Lompoa is rooted in the love and devotion to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a holy figure. Maudu Lompoa is conducted with great reverence at each stage, emphasizing cleanliness and the sanctity of the celebration process. Abstract

This study addresses the issue of disaster vulnerability in Demak Regency, an area highly exposedto tidal flooding, coastal erosion, and extreme weather. The objective of the research is toformulate a community participation-based disaster education model that strengthenspreparedness and resilience at the local level. Theoretically, the study draws on disaster riskreduction frameworks emphasizing community empowerment, participatory education, andintegration of local wisdom. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitativeZ-score analysis of disaster data from 2020–2022 with qualitative thematic analysis using NVivoto assess literature, policy documents, and community practices. The results reveal that disasterhazards in Demak are spatially varied: Sayung District is categorized as high-hazard, Guntur asmedium, while twelve other sub-districts fall into the low category. These findings highlight thenecessity of contextualized disaster education tailored to specific local hazards. The proposedmodel integrates schools, communities, and cultural traditions to enhance disaster literacy, fostersocial cohesion, and improve adaptive capacity. The conclusion emphasizes that a participatory,location-specific education framework is more effective than uniform approaches and can bereplicated in other disaster-prone regions. The novelty of this study lies in combining empiricalhazard mapping with community participation principles to design a disaster education modelthat is both data-driven and socially embedded, thereby bridging gaps between statistical riskassessment and local educational practice.
