Abstract

THE IMPACT OF ENDEMIC ECOTOURISM PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT BASED ON  TANGKOKO  NATURE RESERVE OF BITUNG. Tangkoko National Reserve is one of the nature reserves located in Bitung regency of North Sulawesi. The reserve covers an area of 8,745 hectares. There is abundant biodiversity such as various types of protected flora and fauna can be found in the reserve. Among them there are endemic wildlifes such as Sulawesi Macaque (Macaca nigra), Tarsiers (Tarsius spectrum), the Sulawesi bear cuscus (Ailurops ursinus), and Hornbill (Rhyticeros cassidix). Here is where the tourists can enjoy the beauty of the reserve or seen firsthand the wealthy of nature in such a protected forest, where the forest has potential as anecotourism spot. Tourism industry has an important role in the development efforts and the development of the region where the tourism spot located.Even in some areas show that tourism industry is able to develop the region as well as create a main income source. The present study was conducted to elaborate the impacts of endemic ecotourism program development basedon the development of Tangkoko nature reserve of Bitung. The study was conducted from November 2016 to January 2017. The ellaboration of the study was focused on the impact of ecotourism developmentonthe existing endemic Sulawesi Black Monkeys and Tarsiers. Survey method was employed to collect and analyze various data and information on endemic fauna of Sulawesi Black Monkeys and Tarsiers. The primary data was obtained through direct interviews with various communities around nature reserve area, and secondary data was obtained from related government sources in Bitung regency.Variables observed were:1) vegetation, 2) the existing wildlife conditions, 3) community income, and 4) the income of the region of Bitung regency.Based on results and discussion, it can be concluded that ecotourism is the best program to be implemented as it could give positive impact towards conservation efforts,increase community's income, and regional income.Keywords: Tangkoko reserve, Ecotourism, Endemic Fauna.

Abstract

REFLECTION OF INTEREST OF THE TUMINTING VILLAGE COMMUNITY TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF QUAIL BUSINESS AS A SOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE FAMILY ECONOMY IN THE NEW NORMAL. The purpose of the study was to explore the level of interest of the Tuminting Village community towards the development of quail business as a solution to support the family economy and to find an overview of the basic understandings that the Tuminting Village community had known if their quail farming business would be developed with simple technology. The variables measured in the community were: level of education, community work and income, community interest in quail business, understanding of village officials on quail farming. The data or information collected was analyzed simply by calculating the percentage and then presented in the form of a bar chart, while the results of other observations would be described descriptively, including describing things that were seen and received directly from the community as the object under study. The results of the research on public interest in quail business showed that there were around 32.02% interested in developing quail cultivation in the New Normal Covid-19 period. The level of basic understanding of the Tuminting Village community towards quail development efforts from the results of the study was shown to be 51.09%. Meanwhile, the understanding of village officials in supporting quail farming by the community illustrated that more than 56.25% did not understand, but they strongly support the development of quail cultivation and the value was around 84.75%. The conclusion was that although the number of people who did not understand was still very high, they still have a high interest in participating and in developing the quail farming business as a support for the family economy during the New Normal Covid-19 period.Keywords: Community interest, village officials, quail, new normal covid-19

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui informasi jenis-jenis satwa liar dan endemik yang banyak ditemukan di pasar-pasar tradisional beredar di Wilayah Kabupaten Minahasa Utara. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di beberapa pasar tradisional yang ada di Minahasa Utara. Objek penelitian adalah masyarakat pengguna pasar-pasar tradisional di Wilayah Kabupaten Minahasa Utara dan ini merupakan data primer. Data sekunder yang diperoleh dari instansi terkait dengan penelitian. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey. Data yang dikumpulkan dengan cara mendatangi langsung ke responden dan mewawancarai melalui quisioner yang berikan tanpa adanya intervensi dari peneliti. Data yang diperoleh ditabulasi dan dianalisis secara sederhana yaitu menghitung persentase dari tiap-tiap vartabel yang terkait dengan responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, satwa liar yang diperjual belikan di pasar Minahasa Utara diambil atau didatangkan dari Gorontalo dan Palu  sebanyak 1 sampai 2 pedagang, akan tetapi ada 1 orang pedagang mendapatkannya dari Gunung Kelabat dan Likupang. Jenis satwa liar yang diperdagangkan diantaranya tikus, kelelawar, babirusa dan juga ular phyton. Jumlah pembeli daging satwa liar dipasar tradisional Minahasa Utara untuk daging babirusa yang dikonsumsi sendiri sebanyak 6 orang pembeli dan untuk dijual kembali ke rumah makan hanya 1 orang, sedangkan pembeli daging tikus 12 orang hanya untuk dikonsumsi sendiri dan dijual kembali hanya 1 orang. Untuk daging kelelawar pembelinya 7 orang dan dijual kembali hanya 1 orang, serta pembeli daging ular piton pembelinya 5 orang dan tidak menjual kembali daging yang mereka beli. Kesimpulan penelitian ini  bahwa, ada peredaran satwa liar  baik dalam bentuk hidup maupun mati yang ditemukan dipasar tradisional Minahasa Utara, dan ini sangat bervariasi sedangkan satwa endemik tidak diperjual belikan dipasar tersebut baik dalam bentuk hidup maupun mati. Kata Kunci: Pasar tradisional, satwa endemik, satwa liar
