Abstract

The reality of homeschooling as a choice for parents in providing education to children is one of the efforts to solve various educational problems that exist in society. However, the legality of home education and the learning approach has become a significant issue. With a descriptive qualitative approach, this research reveals the legal aspects and the various learning approaches of home education. Regarding the legality of homeschooling, the government should carry out the mandate of the Constitution, ensuring that every citizen receives a proper education, as stated in Article 31 of the 1945 Constitution, which is further elaborated in Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, Government Regulation Number 57 of 2021 concerning National Education Standards, and Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 129 of 2014 concerning Home Schools. Homeschooling is one of the informal education paths which is carried out by families. The approach in the practice has a wide range, from very unstructured models such as unschooling to highly structured ones such as school at home. To facilitate home school practitioners, the existence of a test center will significantly encourage the emergence of initiative and creativity in the development of learning methods and education models.

Abstract

The research aimed to find out how the narrative and language signs of Hajj correlate with social issues in the Mecca I’m Coming movie. In Indonesian society, Hajj, as one of the Islamic pillars, was not only associated with religious values but also socio-cultural aspects. The research employed a textual approach, incorporating two analytical theories: narrative structure and semiotic signification. The narrative structure model by Lacey and Gilespie was used to ascertain the narrative structure, while Ferdinand de Saussure’s concept of signification was applied to investigate the meanings of the research object. Stuart Hall’s circuit of culture, referred to as the framework analysis model, deepens the study of the research data. The research data were visuals and verbal information related to Hajj and its connection with social issues. The result shows that the object has equilibrium, disruption, disruption (complication), climax, disequilibrium, and new equilibrium narrative structure. The correlation of Hajj and the social issues featured in the film is (1) Hajj as social status; (2) the portrayal of Hajj status as a favored choice for marriage that intensifies in the unfolding of the story’s plot, leading to conflicts and complex situation; lastly (3) the issues of the social media phenomena in the community that appears in a secondary plot in the story through two figures; Bagyo and Tuti.

Abstract

Indonesian language is rich in loanwords. This is due to the historical presence of various colonizers in the country, such as the Netherlands, Portugal, England, and Japan. Additionally, there were trading interactions with nations like the Arabs, Indians, Chinese, and Persians. The influx of these foreign cultures inevitably left linguistic imprints on the Indonesian language. Portuguese, which arrived in 1511 with initial trading intentions, ended up being enticed into colonization, leading to the unwitting integration of Portuguese words into the Indonesian society. This research aims to examine the extent to which Portuguese words have been absorbed into the Indonesian language and have been used by the language users in this country without awareness. A qualitative method was employed in this study, relying on primary data gathered through direct interviews with native speakers of Portuguese. Secondary data was also collected through the analysis of various dictionaries. The findings of this research indicate that only a limited number of Portuguese words have been assimilated into the Indonesian language. Several words related to religious elements, food, and object names continue to be in use, such as "gereja" (church), "natal" (Christmas), "sekolah" (school), "bangku" (bench), and "kemeja" (shirt). This phenomenon can be attributed to the strong linguistic ties of the Indonesian society with religious and socio-cultural matters, as these loanwords have become deeply integrated and commonly used by the population.

Abstract

Background: Majelis taklim holds significant potential for Arabic language education through the application of varied and adaptive methods. The combination of traditional and modern methods can enhance teaching effectiveness if accompanied by appropriate strategies to overcome challenges. Thus, majelis taklim can continue to serve as a relevant and high-quality center for Arabic language learning for the Muslim community. Purpose: This article examines the methods and approaches to teaching Arabic in majelis taklim.. Design and methods: A qualitative paradigm using literature reviews was chosen to understand how aspects of Arabic language teaching methods can be formulated to meet the needs of majelis taklim. Results: In majelis taklim, various teaching approaches are employed, both traditional and modern. The combination of these approaches, along with the development of teaching methods and content, aims to support Islamic education, including Arabic language instruction. The preparation of teaching materials considers participants' backgrounds, particularly their age, and integrates traditional and modern methods. Commonly used Arabic teaching methods in majelis taklim include lectures and discussions, the grammar-translation method, as well as repetition and memorization techniques. The implementation of these methods must be adapted to address challenges such as limited time, diverse participant backgrounds, and restricted access to modern learning resources.

Abstract

This study explores the use of literary techniques, particularly metaphors, in imaginative writing, with a focus on song lyrics. The research examines the metaphorical elements in the song lyrics of "Tarian Penghancur Raya" by Feast. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, data were collected through note-taking techniques. The data analysis utilized the directed content analysis method to identify the types of metaphors and their implications from a semantic perspective. The findings reveal four explicit (in praesentia) and implicit (in absentia) metaphors in the song "The Great Destroyer Dance". These metaphors were proportionately applied, creating a balance that enhances the song's auditory appeal while effectively conveying its embedded messages. The study concludes that the strategic use of explicit and implicit metaphors contributes to the song's ability to evoke imagination and deliver its thematic depth. This research highlights the significance of metaphorical elements in enriching literary works and their potential impact on listeners.
