Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that contribute to the intention of student entrepreneurs in Aceh from the aspect of the desire need for achievement, locus of control, and self-efficacy. This research is quantitative research which applied the survey approach to be able to determine the intention of entrepreneurs among students. The results indicates that only locus of control can explain the intention of students to be entrepreneurs in Aceh . The results of this research will hopefully help to clarify aspects of the development of entrepreneurship among the students that will enrich their knowledge of entrepreneurship especially among the students in Indonesian. The result of this study will be able to take a step closer to finding ways to increase the number of students to become entrepreneurs.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify the factors contributing to students' nervousness when speaking English and to assess their English speaking proficiency at SMK Nasional 2 Kayu Tanam. This research employs qualitative methodologies with a descriptive orientation. Two instruments were utilized in this research, specifically the LFCAS questionnaire developed by Horwitz in 1986 and the speaking test created by Brown in 2004. The research sample comprised 35 students, divided across two classes: class X accounting and class X TSM 2. The sample was obtained using purposive sampling. The research data was gathered through the administration of a questionnaire and a speaking test in two classes: class X accounting and class X TSM 2 SMK Nasional 2 Kayu Tanam. The results of the LFCAS questionnaire indicated that communication apprehension was at 33.5%, fear of negative evaluation at 24.56%, and test anxiety at 41.94%. The outcomes of the class X accounting and X TSM 2 in the five aspects are as follows: vocabulary 19.93%, grammar 19.26%, fluency 19.77%, pronunciation 20.6%, and understanding 20.44%. Based on the LFCAS questionnaire, pupils can be classified as either low or below average, whereas the results of the students' speaking test are classified as excellent.

Abstract

One of the English academic writing at college is English essays. Since English essay writing is one skill that should be taught to students, English essays must be mastered by students. Although writing English essays is complete and well organized, it still has a big contribution to developing students’ writing ability. This research aims to describe the students’ errors of cohesion in students' English Essay writing at STKIP YDB Lubuk Alung. The samples of the research were students of the 3rd semester of the English Department of STKIP YDB Lubuk Alung using purposive sampling which consisted of eight students. The instrument of the research was documentation through students’ essay writing. This study explores types of cohesion that are classified into two cohesions, namely grammatical cohesion, and lexical cohesion. The grammatical cohesion involves references, substitutions, ellipses, and conjunctions. Meanwhile, lexical cohesion involves reiteration and colocation. The result of this study shows that there are 299 errors of cohesion in students’ essay writing. The errors found by grammatical cohesion are 203 and the errors of lexical cohesion are 96. Referring to the research findings, it is recommended that English writing lecturers should more attention to discussing, explaining, and analyzing all these errors to overcome the writing English essays problems dealing with grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Kualitas Pelayanan terhadap Loyalitas nasabah dengan Kepuasan sebagai variabel intervening di Bank Syariah Indonesia, Kabupaten Bireun, khususnya bagi nasabah yang melakukan gadai emas. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 230, dihitung dari lima kali jumlah indikator (46 x 5). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan program SEM AMOS. Hasil regresi dengan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) menunjukkan bahwa Kualitas Pelayanan dan Kepercayaan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Kepuasan nasabah. Selain itu, Kualitas Pelayanan, Kepercayaan, dan Kepuasan juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Loyalitas nasabah dalam melakukan gadai emas. Selanjutnya, Kualitas Pelayanan dan Kepercayaan memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap Loyalitas nasabah dengan Kepuasan sebagai variabel intervening di Kabupaten Bireun.

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the use of politeness strategies in classroom interaction in English teaching learning at MAN 1 Tanah Datar in academic year of 2024/2025. The objectives of the research are to (1) identify the types of politeness strategies which were used in the classroom interaction, (2) identify the function implied in the politeness strategies used by English teachers. The research was designed as a qualitative study. There are three steps used in this research, they are (1) colleting the data, (2) analyzing the data and (3) presenting the result of the analysis. The data are collected by observational method. The obtained data were in the form of utterances produced in classroom interactions. This method was followed by non-participatory observational, recording and note taking. The data were analyzed by using referential, translational and distributional method. The results of the analysis were described by using formal and informal method. After analyzing the data, the result of study show (1) politeness was conveyed through three types of politeness strategies, namely: bald-on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, (2) the functions of the politeness can be divided into three, namely, expressive, directive and representative function. The implication of the politeness used at the classroom interaction performs in five aspects where those aspects are very influenced in the process of teaching and learning. The five aspects are efficient teaching and learning, respect communication between teacher and students, togetherness between teacher and students, cooperating interaction between teacher and students, and the use of less imposition and indirectness expression. Those aspects can motivate students and also developing a meaningful teaching and learning process.
